n.b. if you are using the new 0.2.7.3-rc, be sure to set 'HiddenServiceStatistics 0' in your relay's torrc.

OS4M4
hmm, is there any way to make --verify-config more verbose?
after upgrading to 2.6.10 I just get "Illegal instruction"
murb
OS4M4: what device?
not an RPI or eqiv?

OS4M4
yes an rpi
murb
ah yeah, sounds as if you installed the tor project repository?
the RPI isn't compatible with debian atleast the RPI1 isn't.
OS4M4
yeah, but it's worked before
qwerty1
you need the raspbian packages
murb
as rasbrian usess armhf as its arch name which debian uses for a slightly newer hardware revision.
so it will work for RPI2 but not RPI1
OS4M4: you can still grab sources from the tor apt and build them locally
i've done this in the past and it has worked fine.
OS4M4
yeah, will have to do that
murb
debuild ha sjust worked for me.
(tm)
OS4M4
maybe that is how I fixed it the last time around and messed up the package manager
murb
although not awefully fast.
torQUES
hello, Tor v0.2.7.3-rc (git-eb2188168e2eca96) running as a client in win32 TBB 5.0.3 open a persistent cmd windows with notice: read torrc-defaults and then torrc (I set torrc-defaults: #Log notice stdout + torrc: no any log) - Socks listener on 127.0.0.1:9150 - Control listener on 127.0.0.1:9151 - ...Bootstrapped 100%: Done --> if I close the cmd, tor launcher pop up a warning windows "Tor unexpectedly exited" with two buttons <Restart Tor>
is a normal behaviour for Tor v0.2.7.3-rc running as a client? the tor.exe shipped with TBB has only limited capabilities (no opened cmd when running)?
saper
torQUES: not using TBB at the moment but I think it can run tor.exe in the background without showing its "console"
torQUES
saper: tor.exe from TBB doesn't show its console - only if I replace it with the latest tor.exe
I run also a relay in the background (tor win32 service) with no console window - I just wanted to see if TBB works with any updated tor.exe including a user compiled version
saper
torQUES: https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/doc/TorBrowser/Hacking check this one, it has some hints about how TBB is built
torQUES
ok
saper
torQUES: most notably to would be cool to add a section there "Running Tor Browser with an updated Tor"
torQUES
I think I will make a section "how to run a relay in win32" with details but I don't know where to send it
a relay without vidalia
after I showed here yesterday how google discloses itself that it knows the origin country/IP of an proxified with tor opera browser user, they changed the "We're sorry..." page to hide that terrible info ;-)
turboclick
Hello guys
can you help me please ? I want to create an very anonymous email but i don't know wich provider supply that. Can you give me one ?
sorry for my poor english :p
torQUES
saper: I think I will use the easy way to send a new section proposal for tor wiki - opening an enhancement ticket with all details included

torQUES: that is a not-even-alpha version you're using
torQUES
qwerty1: I test the Tor v0.2.7.3-rc (git-eb2188168e2eca96) in every way: client, relay, HS creation, etc.
so far so good

ParneskGiros

torQUES, windows is proprietary software and known to be hostile to privacy
don't encourage people to use it
torQUES: http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/windows-10-automatically-sends-parents-detailed-dossier-of-their-childrens-internet-history-and-10472226.html
torQUES: if anything you should spread the word about how bad it is
to tech-illiterate friends who may not know
torQUES
the vista 10 has built-in keyloggers and acts like a law enforcer
qwerty1
all versions of windows are bad
torQUES
Linus Torvalds, lol Tor..., said he don't use debian because is hard to install - ubuntu is derived from debian - so, what linux is better? especially for developing
qwerty1
windows uploads your files, such as relay keys, to the cloud, where they are immediately subject to seizure by the nsa under their famous prism program
torQUES
windows xp upload nothing
qwerty1
not any more
new updates put the uploading features in all windows versions
torQUES
for Xp there are no new updates for years
qwerty1
not true
torQUES
anyway the update service is disabled
on th other side, ubuntu souds like a tribal OS
;-)
*sounds
I will stick around with debian
Peng
torQUES: Windows XP uploads everything after you *get hacked* because you are running an old, vulnerable, insecure, unsupported, OS with a crappy IPv6 stack.
(Action) looks at coderman_
I'm sure you'll be very happy that you dodged the Microsoft phone-homey stuff that is totally harmless, for your benefit and can be turned off after you get CryptoLockered.
torQUES
Peng: did you checked my HS? http://4dbwoqy2c47vc5ux.onion/
I built my own crypto things
with the openssl engine
and with my improved random bitstream generator
entropy 7.99999998 NIST tests passed
the proprietary crypto software are crappy and untrustful
the tor.exe would automatically encrypt/decrypt the tor keys to enhance the security of the tor files
even on linux platforms these keys are not kept secure
