i wanna join the course https://www.france-universite-numerique-mooc.fr/courses/CNAM/01019/session01/about# but i cannot click on to enroll why
it's because javascript is disabled
???
check it please
just click in and test if you can enroll
UnrealCat please can you click on the enrol course with javascript and not javascript afetr to see if it is the error comes from it. I am somewhere I can not risk to do this experience.
arma
the # at the end is a good hint that it wants javascript
pahtd
okay
it's https so it looks protected but a big website like it does not make me trust in
Do you think it's a good idea to idsable javascript here? after all the siet is in https
arma
depends how much you care about the site. i generally allow javascript in most places. otherwise the web stops working, and then what's the point.
pahtd
itve got the french flag so the french governement may be able to attack himself

Hello I would like to make a irl hacker team.
irl
ok so, the reason i linked you to the hackerspaces website is that will be where you'll find other interested people
you should be able to find a group local to you, and if not, it has hints and tips on starting a group of your own
https://wiki.hackerspaces.org/
i guess that link would have been more useful
wrt freenode, you can connect to freenode if you use SASL authentication
which i believe means you need to register your nick beforehand
which you could do from a coffee shop, train wifi, airport wifi, public library, whatever
pdjtf
I am banned before accessing at freenode irc so I can not register my name.

irl
ok, but other computers are not banned, like those i listed above
yano
freenode doesn't allow tor connections at all at the moment. they use to run an onion service
irl
oooh, did not realise this
that's a shame
kernelcorn
I don't know if the hidden service is still available. Last I heard it was down.
yano
yea, same here. last i heard the onion service was down too
irl
"PLEASE NOTE THAT THE tor HIDDEN SERVICE IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE AND THERE IS NO SET DATE FOR ITS RETURN"
from their website
so ok, that is sad ):
tadaa
connect to tor, ssh to a service forced or otherwise, connect to freenode. tadaaaa
irl
that works
yano
the first part of the /topic on #freenode (on freenode) is: -- | Topic for #freenode is " Welcome to #freenode | The tor-sasl service is currently unavailable and there is no current ETA for its return..."
irl
they've not removed the documentation, so there's hope
pahtd
u'r still okay i can?
pdjtf
I have just to wait for?
irl
pdjtf: you might be waiting a while
you can still try to find a local hackspace though and meet people
pdjtf
Thank you :)
irl
(:
pahtd
another person can confirm what I listen???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
yes or no it's a good idea?
kernelcorn
what, like on Pandora?

hey
kernelcorn
that's a nice picture of him
s7r
kernelcorn: can we try onionns anywhere?
I would be happy to help you test it
kernelcorn
I will be building packages very soon
that's great to hear
I'm currently eliminating the warnings given by GCC, Clang, and the cppcheck static analysis tool
s7r
I find it important, especially for next gen HS @prop 224 which will be longer
kernelcorn
I'll post on tor-dev when I have an OnioNS prototype, it really should be this week
what Linux distribution do you run?
s7r
great. mostly debian
kernelcorn
Wheezy or Jessie?
s7r
also, isn't it kind of related (speaking from the used technology point of view) to prop#250 ?
both
about 50 - 50 currently. didn't upgrade all machines, didn't have the time
kernelcorn
I will need that commit-and-reveal scheme that George just put out on tor-dev
since RSA identity keys are going away, I will also need relays to have ed25519
s7r
thought so. you know better how it works so if you have time please comment on what George posted. I will read it tomorrow, been working on ed25519 identities doing some tests
kernelcorn
I thought it looked rather well, I didn't really have anything more to say
it was discussed in the HS meetings in DC
s7r: check out https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Jesse-V/OnioNS-client/master/src/assets/client.py
s7r
ok. just need python-dev and pip?
kernelcorn
that's a Python script, and so I have tor-stem as a dependency. Installing Python in Windows is harder. Do you think I should port that script to C++?
s7r
yeah, that will be needed. users running Tor Browser on Windows expect the click click next next easy stuff I guess.
but it's fine for the testing stage.
so onionns is in 2 parts: server side, and client side?
kernelcorn
no, it's in four parts: HS-, server-, and client-side, and they all have OnioNS-common as a dependency as it's a shared library
s7r
what is HS- used for?
server and client side it's obvious
kernelcorn
that's what the hidden service operator runs to claim a domain name and then automatically upload it to the OnioNS servers
AspiringTech
hi
anyone online?
s7r
kernelcorn: for how long can a hidden service claim a domain name?
I mean ,for how long can it keep the same domain name (sorry asked the wrong thing)
AspiringTech
i have a question
what is a better way to enter tor than the tor browser (mozilla)
or rather what precautions must i take?
cacahuatl
There isn't one if anonymity/unlinkability if your goal.
*is
AspiringTech
there is one?
oh nvm lol
kernelcorn
s7r: long term, I haven't defined that yet
s7r
I ment if the hidden service is taken offline, for let's say n days. it should be able to keep its domain name
kernelcorn
in the design, HS operators have to periodically renew the domain
yes, I was thinking that
right, once you claim a domain you should have it for several months I suppose
I haven't locked down that value yet, it's just a variable in my design
I've been thinking that if a HS is offline for n days, eventually they should lose control of their domain, but there are problems with that approach so I haven't put that idea in the design yet
