dyll
hello everybody
kernelcorn
hi dyll
iddqd
Seriously. What is this?
Tor Browser 5 has a... "share" button?
Are you going all Mozilla now?
ekan
iddqd: Fork it
iddqd
ekan: ...
ekan
iddqd: haha, was a joke, what branch are you using?
iddqd
Branch?
ekan
stable, dev?
iddqd
Stable, I assume.
I didn't pick a branch.

ekan
wait, the default tor browser has a share button?
wot
iddqd
Tor Browser 5.
Apparently new update since today.
You have not updated?
ekan
omg.
I don't use the tor browser
iddqd
The Mozilla cancer is spreading to Tor Browser...
You don't?
ekan
No, I use the normal firefox
iddqd
That's... not secure.
ekan
Why not? I properly hardened it
iddqd
Can you be sure about that?
ekan
Said the guy with the share button, hehe
iddqd
The share button is the whole reason I join now.
When I was actually going to Dream Land.
ekan
ask to #i2p-devel
lol I mean
#tor-devel
iddqd
Why not in here?
ekan
Well, do you wanna know the reason why developers didn't do something about the button, right?
#tor-dev
cacahuatl
Where are you seeing the "share" button?
gamambel
ekan: "share button"? you mean sync?
ekan
don't look at me, I don't use tor-browser, ask iddqd
gamambel
iddqd: you are aware of the many patches that tor browser applies to the codebase to try and harden it, right?
i don't understand why you would want to go through all of that and not simply use tor browser
cacahuatl
I don't see any share button
gamambel
me neither
ekan
iddqd: Care to share a screen?

iddqd
Back.
Right left to the "hamburger menu".
To the right of the address field.
It looks like a paper plane.
gamambel: I wasn't the one running vanillafox.
Paper airplane icon.
Tor Browser 5.
Was not present in 4.x
cacahuatl
nope don't have that here
gamambel
i see it in the customizations, but not by default
iddqd
Then why do I have it?
I'm falling asleep, so answer within 5 seconds, please.
cacahuatl
you've changed away from defaults :)
iddqd
No, I have not.
Very strange.
Anyway. Must sleep now.
Peng
well, it's not a big deal.
cacahuatl
ahah
kvm345
mine does not have an associated icon, just the text "share this page"
cacahuatl
tried to use the builtin upgrade from 4.5.3 to 5.0
and now I see it, but it seems totally inactive, I can't even click it, it's greyed out
Peng
huh
gamambel
hm :(
cacahuatl: can you file a bug report about this?
kvm345
I think with many users, "share" tends to be associated with no privacy....like "cloud" or other marketing terms
cacahuatl
what happens if you try to share a page?
kvm345
have you tried it?
cacahuatl
on my instance it was greyed out, I couldn't click it, just see the paper plane
kvm345
different for everybody
gamambel
i did a clean install and i can add it, but it stays greyed out
kvm345
maybe it depends on where the privacy bar thing is
gamambel
ah possible
cacahuatl
gamambel: I downloaded 4.5.3 and then upgraded through the mozilla updater
gamambel
kvm345: privacy setting does not change the status for me
cacahuatl
64bit linux, en_US locale also, writing a ticket just now, I guess people can append once I submit it. I don't know how serious it is though. if the functionality is ripped out?
kvm345
gamambel: I tried it as well, no change
gamambel
i don't see how this is more than a small usability bug
but it still is a bug, why would you want that button there
kvm345
yeah
cacahuatl
#16784
Peng
It's not a huge deal even if the button works.
cacahuatl
I do now have an M.I.A. song stuck in my head though
kvm345
does cypherpunks provide free anonymous email?
ekan
kvm345: That server must be compromised as *censored*
gamambel
ekan: in our case, cypherpunks is a publicly shared trac/wiki account for anonymous/guest submissions
it's not associated with any mail account
kvm345: ^
kvm345
Oh, thanks for the info.
so anyone can submit a ticket under "cypherpunks"? Good idea

What's the best way to use irssi with Tor nowawdays? This (https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/doc/TorifyHOWTO/irssi) seems to be a little out of date.

Has anyone with Avast seen Avast! Web/Mail Shield Root as the root CA that authenticates *.torproject.org ?
ghetto
tbb is overwritting my bridges in torrc with the default bridges. what the hell?!
i can't get rid of obfs4 settings in tbb. i tried editing torrc directly. i tried clicking open settings then connect directly. whatever i did tbb always recreates torrc with the default three obfs4 bridges
ok, finally got it to work, i had to click open settings and configure, then select no for the isp question.
