How did the meeting in Prague go? Is .onion TLD moving forward?
yano
wait, they are trying to make .onion a global TLD?
how would that work in conjunction with Tor's onion services?
wseltzer
There's a draft in IETF Last Call (thanks ioerror!) to reserve .onion for use by the tor protocols
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-dnsop-onion-tld/
yano
ooooh, neat
ln5
yano: no, putting .onion on a list of names _not_ to ever become a TLD
yano
ln5: oh
that makes sense
sambuddhabasu1
are there any npm packages for search .onion sites?
_aeris_
hello guys !
recently i saw on twitter a link to a tor exit notice made with bootstrap
somebody have the link here ? :)
qwerty1
sambuddhabasu1: what the what?
sambuddhabasu1
qwerty1: I was thinking of making a npm package which lets us search for .onion sites
but I wasnt sure if anything like that already exists
qwerty1
uh
heyo
heya, which chanel for tor browser developers?
algorythm
there are multiple onion search engines out there
qwerty1
all suck
algorythm
yeah, well
GeKo
heyo: #tor-dev
qwerty1
some have sketchy usic funding
sambuddhabasu1
I did see the one by ahmia
https://ahmia.fi/search/
but whenever I try to search for sites
and try to open the site with tor2web.org, the server seems to be down :(
qwerty1
maybe tor2web is down
sambuddhabasu1
qwerty1: looks like so. the sites open when opened using Tor on my machine

qwerty1
hs websites are searchable with google
many
wgreenhouse
sambuddhabasu1: there are other instances of the tor2web software
onion.city is another
you could also possibly host one yourself

Can someone give me a hint on where i can find how the information of a relay is published in the network? e.g. when do details of a relay get updated(on atlas)
sambuddhabasu1
wgreenhouse: thanks for that
wgreenhouse
triton_: read around https://gitweb.torproject.org/torspec.git/tree/dir-spec.txt#n1271 and surrounding headings
triton_
wgreenhouse: thx a lot
wgreenhouse
the authorities vote on the "consensus" about once every half hour and those are published as "microdescriptors" to all tor running clients, including the one running under atlas
triton_
thank you very much! i'll keep continue to read. Can't know enough if you want to run relay.
