torQUES
in windows - in debian I installed TBB and it works whitout any other setting
<KulaIRC> you actually use tor.exe here as a proxy
KulaIRC
strange - i use w7
with standard firefox i have full internet connectivity
torQUES
my IRC client is proxified through other running instance of tor.exe, not from TBB
KulaIRC
except tb network setting (socks 5 remote dns), are there more relevant settings i could check?
ensign__
xeb do you see that
qwerty1's same tired sh*t
torQUES
close the IRC client and use only TBB
ensign__
now what is torQUES going on about
KulaIRC
not related to my question
i my isp would block tor traffic, i assume i would not get a circuit at all, right?
torQUES
is not your ISP

KulaIRC
and i guess i do not need an obfs4proxy or something ...
torQUES
if your IRC client use the tor.exe from TBB with certain settings then I think the TBB can't find URL's in the same time
KulaIRC
also tor privacy setting should not be the cause whatever level ...
my irc client does not use tor, it plain irc
sorry - it's plain irc
torQUES
I thought it's a cloaked tor IP
KulaIRC
my process explorer shows some traffic on tor child process - but very very small
it is not totally blocked or stuck, but only few byte with long pauses
very strange
do you have an arbitrary onion address i could try
meejah
http://timaq4ygg2iegci7.onion should be up
KulaIRC
tb connecting wheel is endlessly wheeling
torQUES
<KulaIRC> your small traffic is tipically for a relay, not for a tor client
KulaIRC
i did not configure a relay
still wheeling
torQUES
reinstall TBB as an administrator
and roun asa a client not as a relay
KulaIRC
I can try again. Before i installed two times a local admin
torQUES
and point tor.exe in your firewall to any TCP connections
KulaIRC
there is no deinstall, right. i only run the installer exe again (as admin)
torQUES
delete the Tor Browser folder and install again
KulaIRC
ok
i did reinstall as discussed before - same wheeling
is latest tb 5.0.3 en
torQUES
do you run an antivirus with its own firewall/
?
KulaIRC
internet security package with anti virus and (local) firewall
torQUES
open path in firewall for TBB tor.exe
KulaIRC
tor only needs tcp outbound - not inbound, right
and it cannot udp at all
torQUES
not inbound?
and how do you receive the packets from URL destionation

KulaIRC
i change to out and in
cacahuatl
"outbound" and "inbound" are simplications, generally it doesn't require what most would consider "inbound"
I.E. connections initated from outside to it
KulaIRC
did it - wheeling again
torQUES
I run TBB on windows too, but I have no problems
KulaIRC
and the very strange thing is:
I have a bt client with integrated tor (not running at the moment)
There tor works perfect on my machine
torQUES
your firewall is the standard win OS firewall/
?
if you run a full internet security app you may have 2 firewalls running
the OS firewall and the app firewall
KulaIRC
integrated w7 firewall is disabled
only gdata package
torQUES
disable all firewalls for test your TBB against a wellknown link
if it works then the problem is your firewall settings
KulaIRC
no change with no firewall
i reactivate
when i watch into my router settings, i see nothing that indicated tor traffic, sich as opened ports or something. is this normal?
torQUES
if you can reach internet with other browser maybe your ISP is blocking certain tor nodes IPs
but this is illegal
KulaIRC
sounds plausible, but bt tor always works fine on same machine
i guess i have found a mystery, unfortunately
torQUES
open a ticket to https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/register and ask the tor developers for help
with detailed logs
KulaIRC
thanks, but maybe this is too much
i hope with a later regular release it will work again.
wgreenhouse
KulaIRC: using tor as a client doesn't require you to forward ports at your router
qwerty1
maybe you got a bad circuit that time
wgreenhouse
so there's no reason why you would see that
torQUES
I use 5.0.3 too on Windows and works fine
KulaIRC
some time ago, a year or so, i used tb with no incident
hope for the best
thanks for your support
i quit bye
torQUES
download TBB again from tor site
KulaIRC
is the a new build?
qwerty1
have you tried using bridges?
torQUES
maybe something went wrong when you downloaded it
KulaIRC
i tried something in this way this week.
did not work. but i have very little skills with bridges
i copies three addressed into a tor settings field
but no success
qwerty1
https://bridges.torproject.org/howto
KulaIRC
fine - may tomorrow i will dl again and try - but it too late today. nearly midnight
you see my typos - i should concentrate ;-)
if you guys have contact to tor devs - you might want to mention my incident. i am only a dumb user.
ok - i finish for today, again thanks for support
torQUES
<KulaIRC> is on dialup connection - how this can block TBB?
meejah
upstream stuff could be blocking, theoretically
qwerty1
when internet gets slower than a certain speed tor does stop working alogether
torQUES
I didn't used dialup connection for ages '90 - something through a phone line cable
qwerty1
that speed could be just above or just below dialup speed
meejah
qwerty1: "speed" == too little BW, or too much latency?
qwerty1
bw
