hi
arma
hi!

!ask

If you have a question, just ask! For example: "I have a problem with ___; I'm running Tor (or TorBrowser) version ___. When I try to do ___ I get the following output ___. I expected it to do ___". Don't ask if you can ask, if anyone uses it, or pick one person to ask. We're all volunteers; make it easy for us to help. You can also try asking on tor-talk@lists.torproject.org>.
Kinoko
This is fabulous, fantasticX . I found a method to enter freenode throgh tor browser. And will be hArd to break. :D
I will analyse the logs. Is serious. The freenode's slackers are broken for a long time.
devvi
Does Tor pick a new circuit every time I open and close the Tor Browser?
plsenabletor

triton_
hello, is someone here that can answer me a question about accounting?
Peng
Possibly. What do you want to know?
triton_
i am running a relay and i basically have set my bandwidth to unlimited
now the problem is that the relay is burning through 4TB of traffic in about 10 days and then goes down.
I am thinking about either limiting bandwidth so it can run the full month or limiting the data transfer on a daily basis - which do you think is to prefer?
or is there any way to setup your relay that it uses unlimited speed until a certain amount of data is left and then throttle it down according to the time left in the accounting period?
Peng
Limiting it on a daily basis sounds bad, IMO. It sucks to blow away open connections 30 times a month.
triton_
Peng: yeah i thought so too....so i should artificially limit the bandwidth so it will last.
marcusw
triton_: set a bandwidth limit
so that your quota lasts the whole month
triton_
marcusw: okay thanks - will do
Peng: also thanks for helping me

_aeris_
hello #tor !
who i can contact about some trouble on mailing lists (with DMARC) ?
arma
hm! what is the trouble?
_aeris_
arma > because ML modify body and headers, you invalidate DKIM, and because ML repost on behalf of the author, you invalidate the SPF
and because you invalidate DKIM and SPF, you invalidate DMARC
arma
which 'you' is this? that is, which mailserver, and which mailing list
_aeris_
and with DMARC invalid, mails are rejected by all mail provider relying on DMARC, currently my mail to Tor ML are rejected by comcast, fastmail, google and mail.ru
seems all *@lists.torproject.org
arma
it is too late in the night for me to remember all my mail acronyms. but i think google people for sure are getting the list mails.
_aeris_
arma > not if the author domain is protected by DMARC
this is my case
https://paste.imirhil.fr/?3f22efe00c917df6#FkP5bxoJ8Lp7yQQoU/i4hGy19z3PG6s8cX6BjVcBZSE=
here is the gmail report about dmarc, receive this day on my mailbox
gamambel
yes this is becoming more and more a problem
http://wiki.list.org/DOC/What%20can%20I%20do%20about%20members%20being%20unsubscribed%20by%20bounces%20of%20Yahoo%20user%27s%20posts%20for%20DMARC%20policy%20reasons%3F
_aeris_
torproject.org invalidate spf and dkim, so are currently quarantine by google
arma
yuck
_aeris_
and after some time, when i really activate DMARC correctly, will reject all incoming list mail&
arma
weasel is the one on our side who has strong opinions about such things.
gamambel
the link lists 'solutions' but they all suck
_aeris_
see https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-dmarc-interoperability-06, https://sites.google.com/site/oauthgoog/mlistsdkim and https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6377
gamambel > the only « clean » solution i see is to change the from header by something the MTA control the domain
and act really as the author of the mail, not on the behalf of the original author
(as schleuder does for example)
arma
so, all mailman, all majordomo, all mailing lists, broken
_aeris_
yep :D
arma
sounds like the next game of chicken between the huge email providers and the internet
let's cut europe off again. that worked so well last time.
GNUtoo-irssi
hi, is it possible to connect to OFTC using Tor?
_aeris_
GNUtoo-irssi > depends of moon phase :D
GNUtoo-irssi
ah ok, I see
(I guess it depends on if there was some abuse on the same IP before I guess then)
_aeris_
GNUtoo-irssi > if you want, unofficial HS irct4u3giy4f5w2i.onion:6697
GNUtoo-irssi
thanks
weasel
dkim is broken by design.
if you like mailinglists, don't do dkim.
_aeris_
weasel > problem, if you dont do dkim, you are rejected by all big email provider&
or sent on spam folder (gmail), or just not deliver to the end user (microsoft)
weasel
(please don't do ' > ', use ': ')
well, that's really a problem for you as a gmail user.
arma
hence the game of chicken
weasel
I don't see us breaking our setup.
_aeris_
arma: yep :'(
arma: report from comcast : https://paste.imirhil.fr/?7dbd5b45f2749847#oI8qXYqoST+oladmOfCES55zdFb0tfwnCSof8oroiKY=
weasel
what we could do is just outright reject any mail from google domains to our lists.
_aeris_
weasel: not only google
weasel
they are the only one that matter in practice.
_aeris_
currently, i have the trouble with comcast, fastmail, gmail, mail.ru, all microsoft domain (outlook, live, msn&)
and more generally, any MTA validating SPF, DKIM or DMARC&
weasel
any MTA being broken.
_aeris_
AFAIK, any MTA :D
weasel
no.
our setup is fine. the world out there is implementing incompatible crap. that's their problem and their users' problem.
if they don't want to play, they shouldn't and their users can just find places that are still sane.
qwerty1
indeed
use a different provider
_aeris_
qwerty1: im my own provider
