what is this 6-7 MB/s continuous traffic in relay? live stream or torrents?
wtf_fcntl
I had to refresh my Tor IP about 60 times before I found an unbanned IP :/
I can't imagine that's good for the Tor network.
pmwt
i don't know what that says about the node you did wind up getting

LibertyWeNeed
Where can I watch Roger's TOR talk from this week?
arma
there is no video. there was an audio, maybe, but danny says it will be months before he gets around to noticing that it was too crappy to be worthwhile
LibertyWeNeed
if there is a recording, please let me know.
I'll be online for a while
post it to media goblin or media.torproject.org
arma
LibertyWeNeed1: danny really did say the word months.
LibertyWeNeed1
yikes.
I was really looking forward to it

hello
is anyone can help with tor directory server setup please ?

hellou there, i have a question regarding running a relay and its accounting period
i run a tor node which basically has a few MB uplink and i did not restrict the speed. However i have only limited GB / month. So i set an accounting period.
the problem is that the relay has used all its 4 TB after around 1-2 weeks of each month and then goes into hibernation for the rest of the month. Is this bad for its reputation and therefore its consensus weight?
would it be better to either restrict the speed so it can be used throughout the full month or set shorter accounting periods so it will be up at least daily?
Guesst00
is anyone here from tor that i could pm about a tech issue?
winterdarkness-com
Guesst00 : Go ahead here. :) Then everybody can learn some.
Guesst00
there are some specifics i'd rather not post publicly...
DevDaniels
Guesst00: Lots of folks lurking and checking back ocassionally, give a general idea, and likely someone can point you in the right direction
Guesst00
have a program set up to work with tor, blocked in firewall, but netstat and tcp view make it look like it's still direct connecting... i wanted to ask about some of the stats i see in netstat and tcp view...
winterdarkness-com
Guesst00 : Why not to use TAILS live system. From: https://tails.boum.org/about/index.en.html "all software is configured to connect to the Internet through Tor" and "if an application tries to connect to the Internet directly, the connection is automatically blocked for security." I think it might help. :)
Guesst00
i will look into that... ty... but for peace of mind, i still have those questions about the netstat/tcpview logs, trying to figure out if it's showing me a connection through tor or a direct connection...
marcusw
if it's not to localhost
it's not going through tor
unless you configured something weirdly, all tor client traffic should be going to localhost:9050
Guesst00
if it's going to 192.168.*.*, it's direct connecting?
not through tor?
marcusw
that's a local address
so it's not connecting to the internet
but probably also not connecting via tor
but I mean, you do have an unusual setup
what's on that IP? is it just your local machine?
you can PM me netstat output or whatever if you like
Guesst00
ok.. i'll send that in a min...
marcusw, did you get the pm?

is that a regression?
or did that work in the last version, built the same way?
(test_bt.sh checks whether backtraces are printed in the expected format)
torQUES
FAIL: src/test/test_bt.sh it happen always
if I run test_bt with args works
tor fail if I put "sandbox 1" in torrc - "(Sandbox) Caught a bad syscall attempt (syscall time)"
I don't know why
