dun
but when it comes to PHP i'm concerned about security problems (some script however shows the real server ip to the user and youre screwed)
at least i havent found any detailed information on that yet
i'd really like to know how freedom hosting solved that
(yes, i'm not into php at all)

Does every exit node need to have access to the hidden service?
dun: You can use port forwarding trickery so apache and php think the servers address is 127.0.0.1
A handfull worked.
phobos
hidden services run within the tor network
they don't need exit nodes at all
and by within, tor clients can host hidden services as well
cheako
So the daemon I configure the hidden service on connects the the service.

You all today behaved well
So good day

arma: so according to the docs, extensions.torbutton.resize_windows rounds the window size to the nearest 50
Sebastian
it does, unless your browser window is maximized
pde
in which case it randomises?
it seems to randomise the y value but not the x value

Sebastian
in which case it reports accurately
I thought
but no clue.
mikeperry is your friend
pde
I mean, I was just working out what tor users will look like in the panopticlick data
actually, let me revise that
at panopticlick, we collect javascript:screen.width and screen.height
in non-torbutton cases, those variables are the width and height of the _screen_, irrespective of window size
but with torbutton, they become the window size
Sebastian
ah
yeah
pde
(I was confused into thinking the variable was changing because firefox had popped up a little search box, changing my renderable window size)
i'm not convinced that torbutton's behaviour is great
but it's a subtle question
It's definitely a good idea to alter the values of window.innerWidth and window.innerHeight
making screen.width and screen.height the same as those is basically saying "we're not going to give you any more distinguishing information", except for one bit, which is that this is a tor client, and perhaps the server knew that from our IP anyway
BarkerJr
is there a way to increase the ulimit/nofiles on my tor daemon without restarting?
kludge
I wanna noconnect back.
baggy, laggy, with kludges.
why need at all finds the edge cases, no sense with such. and non esge cases even. why
the all behavior like edge cases bunches esge cases
I am sorry that many bugs was reported at all, sorry for your wasted time, it was no need to fix it. nothing need.
hope you close those remains with no sense.
I am sorry for wasting your time right now. hmm but no, you no reads it. no sorry.
ban me please!

brokepunk, did you use the polipo config file from https://svn.torproject.org/svn/torbrowser/trunk/build-scripts/config/polipo.conf ?

brokepunk
do not see the chan.. I am not sure if the pane on the left is users or channels...
dun
what ulimit -n should i use on a relay when bandwith is set to 800kb/s?
brokepunk
dun, made the changes according ti the doc.. installed extension and enabled... no dice...
dun
brokepunk, did you start polipo as root or normal user?
brokepunk
sudo
dun, SUDO
dun, sorry, Im trying to get irc convention down so people do not get pissed....

dun
hm, did you do "sudo polipo"?
if so, try "sudo -H polipo"
brokepunk
dun, lemme man sudo -H
dun
when i start polipo without the -H option it doesnt load the config file from /etc/..
brokepunk
have not logged out since i installed...
hehehe
I think that may be it
never got resolved in/etc???

silence = bad
dun
hm. i installed tor on my ubuntu karmic yesterday and my way to do it was: "su -" "mkdir /etc/polipo" "vi /etc/polipo/config" pasted the polipo config from the tor site in there
then "polipo", "exit" to log out of "su -" and it worked.
brokepunk
ill remove and retry tomorrow
my learning curve for linux has been.... scatterbrained
dun
just keep on ;)
what does "[warn] router_orport_found_reachable(): Bug: ORPort found reachable, but I have no routerinfo yet. Failing to inform controller of success." mean?
brokepunk
this is not high on my list of importance.... more to get better with networking / tcp/ip
i can come back to it...\
hey dun... any good with shell scripts?

Runa, 0.2.2.8-alpha isn't available on all platforms yet, so it's not announced :)
Runa
BarkerJr: it has been announced - http://archives.seul.org/or/talk/Feb-2010/msg00015.html
BarkerJr
ooh, arma forgot to cc or-relays list
all us relay operators are left in the dark
arma
forgot? development releases have been on or-talk since there has been an or-talk.
BarkerJr
I like shotgun approaches :)
ah well, bbl :)
shahn
dun: it means you found a bug. Please report it.
dun: you seem to be good at finding bugs.
arma
dun: is this repeatable? can you log at some more verbose level?
kludge
policy "accept 0.0.0.0/8:80, 0.0.0.0/8:443, reject *:*" wins exit flag if with 03bd98b3b1f92954c286f9d4dd5a2dd5f34a7e8b anyone see this too?
arma
kludge: after you pointed it out, yes. fun. :)
kludge: really, the whole heuristic we picked is not perfect. but what is?
kludge
if not such perfect then exclude for(), for that case exactly need only on change 1 to 0, at call of _internal() why it 1?
else it's not perfect and cpu time heavy. why need 2 problems?
or do what you want, forget this. it's all senseless, all.
baggy, laggy, with kludges.
shahn
kludge: I saw it earlier. You used to be nicer when you reported bugs, though
kludge
baggy, laggy, with kludges.
no sense in reported bugs.
ban me
baggy, laggy, with kludges.
Runa
arma: do you know how many people are on or-relays but not on or-talk?
dun
shahn, arma: should i add my information (there happened some things before this bug came up, maybe its important) to https://bugs.torproject.org/flyspray/index.php?do=details&id=1172 ?

dun
and yes, now it happens everytime i start tor
mh
[info] resolve_my_address(): Address '0trace.de' resolves to private IP address '127.0.0.2'.
no it doesnt?
d-b
dun: ....
odd
dun
before this happened the first time there was an crash/exit on HUP because of: [warn] Unable to write state to file "/home/dun/.tor/state"
forgot to increase this on my system :)
meant to copy: [warn] Couldn't open "/home/dun/.tor/state.tmp" (/home/dun/.tor/state) for writing: Too many open files
nsa
or: kloesing committed revision 21557 (/projects/archives/trunk/bridge-desc-sanitizer): Add country codes to bridge nicknames as in UnnamedCC.
dun
so I increased this file limit to 10000, put ConnLimit 9000 in torrc and since then every time i start tor theres this bug message. dont know if this anecdote is important, though ;)
fabi_
arma: I have the results. Tell me, when you're interested...
weasel
dun: grep 0trace /etc/hosts
dun
uh
127.0.0.20trace.de0trace h1686541.stratoserver.net
weasel
so it does resolve to 127.0.0.2. for you.
dun
i didnt change any network settings, mhhh
gouki
Got an answer from Freenode:
We do not allow exit nodes on the following ports:
6665, 6666, 6667, 7000, 7070, 8000, 8001, 8002, 80 and 443.
backtick
wow 80 and 443
misc
because of the webchat ?
backtick
at least they allow gopher! :)
dun
weasel, thanks for the hint. looks like my roommate changed the hostname to my domain through plesk, i didnt think of this.
anyway, my bug is solved now. i guess it was resolve_my_address which caused that warning?
weasel
you're welcome
fabi_
the function, that you can fetch a descriptor directly from a relay via it's dirport: Is it documented somewhere or is it only intended for debugging reasons?

arma
fabi: dir-spec.txt
fabi_
ah, thanks, now i found it. Just needed to know for my text, if i walked the "official way" or the undocumented territory ;)
dun
arma, i posted my problem(solution) on https://bugs.torproject.org/flyspray/index.php?do=details&id=1172&area=comments#tabs , maybe it helps.
arma
ah.
so it happens when we find ourselves reachable before we have done any directory fetches to give us hints about our external ip address
did you have your tor running for a while, then you restarted it, and then the warning showed up?
dun
yes
and in the meantime my mate edited my hosts file
