lol, I personally like meatloaf.domain.com
Sometimes, you're better off with a domain name like that, and reserve the above named ones for "Front".

freelancers "log in" and work on the "backend".. sounds NSFW

can anyone help me with what to use to create hierchy in phpdoc?
Sammitch
OnceMe: jesus christ, Centos7 shipped with PHP 5.4
silverstick
@pacakge doesn't seem to do it or is it a output setting?
OnceMe
so what?
Use ius and get php56u :)
Sammitch
probably, I'm having a peek at what's in EPEL
anonola
Isnt PHP7 out? :scratches head:

Sammitch
yeah, IUS.
anonola: not officially. october-ish
anonola
from what i understand, theres some pretty decent performance increases with it&
Sammitch
it *is* based on phpng
Bad_Advice_Cat
https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/frequently-asked-questions-faq/26 Sweet.
anonola, not yet. You can install PHP 7.0.0 RC2 right now. -- Release Candidate 3 is going to be available 2 days from now. (or 3 days)
anonola, many new stuff with PHP 7 RC2. I have it installed. All my code and third party libraries/frameworks works/functions nicely in PHP 7 RC2 so far.
So install it. Nothing stopping you from doing it Now. - Create a virtual machine and fire up dat PHP :D
silverstick
anyone know how to add hierchy to phpdoc?
anonola
i still wonder how PHP7 is going to compare against using HHVM
LawnGnome
Similar performance, 80% more minty flavour.
Bad_Advice_Cat
anonola, there are rumors of it doing better than HHVM.
HAI LawnGnome :D
Paratron
hi there
LawnGnome
(Action) waves, then goes back to the indentured servitude that is producing enough mint for everyone.
Bad_Advice_Cat
I should write a tutorial on running PHP 7 RC2 in vagrant with NGinx.
Mmm mint :+)
Hi Paratron.
Paratron
Does anybody happen to know how to apply a certificate to a connection of a SOAP client? Its the first time I have to use SOAP (to a remote server) and I can't seem to get the connection established :(
LawnGnome
Paratron: I've never done it, but apparently you need to give the "local_cert" option to the SoapClient constructor: http://php.net/manual/en/soapclient.soapclient.php (there's an example of that buried in the giant example).
Paratron
aaah, yeah - and it seems like its NOT sending the cert when fetching the WSDL file -.-
whooo, great
well there seems to be a workaround somewhere. I'll read that giant page
thanks LawnGnome

Hey guys, is there a way to conditionally pass a parameter? Something like someFunc($a || $b);
So whichever value is truthy gets passed on?
__adrian
EasyCo, what php version?
$a ?? $b for php7
Literphor
nice

__adrian
(isset($a) && $a)? $a: $b otherwise
actualaly, the way you phrase that, you might need to use the long form anyway.
EasyCo
Hah, yah not PHP7
__adrian
$a ?? $b takes $a if it is set and not null, which is not the same as "truthy"
yeah, so you'd need (isset($a) && $a)? $a: $b
EasyCo
That's cool, what're they calling that operator so I can google it
__adrian
null coalease operator
*coalesce
EasyCo
Awesome, good to know. Thanks __adrian

It doesn't log my "Invalid Document Encoding" errors which are logged in my PHP error log for the $doc->encoding = $test_encoding; line with this code: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=4rEHtjgS
(The problem is that I can't figure out WHAT is "invalid document encoding".)
I wanna log the $test_encoding value when that error happens.
OnceMe
hello, something weird happens, when in production my inserts are way slower... I did like/unlike twice in a second and I got message that "you cant like what you already liked", which means that story wasnt unliked yet, while on my local machine I can do 20 likes/unlikes in second and nothing will happen, any idea? My production server is a way be
tter machine than my localhost so that doesnt make sense..
__adrian
"which means that story wasnt unliked yet" -- first off, you shouldn't assume that. do some profiling and see how long things are actually taking, and check whether any given query is actually successful, and so forth.
you're just stabbing in the dark otherwise :)
Sammitch
production machines are typically under *actual* load and will probably take extra time to handle a request, whereas your local dev env has literally nothing happening on it but what you personally run against it.
OnceMe
no, my app is empty, nobody is visiting it, only me
so there is no "a load" for now..
__adrian
you still need to do some actual checking if you want to figure anything out.
we're not going to just guess for you :)
OnceMe
how to check?
if everything is the basically same on my local and production server
nginx php fpm and even mysql version is the same
only distro is not the same.
__adrian
start with your error log (and check for errors from the db)
OnceMe
good point
__adrian
if there's no errors, you can start profiling to see which parts are actually slow, and how slow

I seen that long ago. Nice stuff.
What I mainly got from this? - The internet. Let's take what we do on desktops (not entirely wrong with it, but... Wait for it) AND DO IT ON THE INTERNET!!!

What exactly is a L developer?
Bad_Advice_Cat
