softwork
<softwork> hello this is correct?
Wig
borland, correct
cythrawll
softwork, pastebin please
softwork
sorry
caffinated
richardlynch: likely because stormchaser has put in his creation as a placeholder until php-bot returns (it was probably down at some point)
richardlynch
softwork: You should also die() for the UTF8 part, and you'll have to ask the #mysql guys if that's correct as far as the syntax/behaviour of MySQL goes.
borland
Wig: why do you ahve $query, it's not being used anywhere, is that supposed to be like taht?
Wig
i do strange things
let me look
defbyte
richardlynch: i don't realy understand how phpinfo() should help me in that way ? i need a function like this: if($usercomesfrommydomain) dont_increment_counter()

richardlynch
defbyte: Because if you play around with the output coming from the different URLs, you will find that HTTP_REFERER is different.
defbyte
thx ... $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']
that was what i was looking about ... is this a save method ?
Apocs
when i've looked at php sourcecodes, sometimes i notice som %s actions, what do they do?
borland
Wig: regardless of that, your code should redir to lost_pass.php always - if it's not, then something is calling exit() or die() from within a function
Wig
yeah, that's why im like wtf
borland
I'm suspicious of your clean function
cythrawll
Apocs, they are probably in sprintf or printf functions, i would look at the syntax for those functions
borland
the mysql_fetch_array wrapping the mysql_query will crash if it finds no results also
cythrawll
basically %s formats anohter argument as a string
borland
that could be it, although I'd expect you to see some kind of error message
defbyte
depending on the function
Wig
i just threw in an if
hold up
richardlynch
defbyte: Not really safe. REFERER is optional for browsers to send, and easily spoofed. But for a homepage counter or something non-critical, it mostly work 99% of the time.
Apocs
cythrawll: but how can php recognise those commands?
cythrawll
Apocs, they would have to be in printf() or sprintf() functions
Wig
well that's it
it wasn't finding anything
borland
and crash
makes sense
richardlynch
Apocs: http://php.net/sprintf Unless you are talking about % as a wildcard in MySQL http://dev.mysql.com
Wig
true
thanks
borland
but where was the error code printed

Apocs
not in mysql
defbyte
richardlynch: the other way would be with session_start() and using the $_SESSION array (and with no cookies i must pass the session_id with ?PHPSESSID)
Wig
at the top, ut i guess i didn't have a mysql_error() after it which i needed
borland
Wig: anyway, whenever you do a mysql_query, check the result set using mysql_num_rows or something before you try fetch, otherwise it'll crash
Wig
all right
defbyte
richardlynch: am i true with this ?
Xyphoid
?PHPSESSID is a generally bad idea
cookies are much better
da-drew
google hates that sh*t
defbyte
i don't like that every user have to use cookies ... i want to make the side cookiefree
borland
defbyte: why? cookies are useful and good
cythrawll
?PHPSESSID is bad bad bad
defbyte
i know .. but some internet users, most of the time stupid users, don't like the and turn them off
cythrawll
bad bad
Wig
value="<?=$code?>" that's the correct syntax for that btw?
defbyte
but how to pass variables from side to side without cookies ??
cythrawll
then they don't get to enjoy the extra things in your site
borland
Wig: that'll output $code yeah
cythrawll
never design a site that tottally depends on cookies
Wig
all right cool
defbyte
i want it cookie free ...
cythrawll
just like its bad idea to design a site that tottally dependant on javascript
borland
just make sure $code has been filtered, as you get it from $_GET, so someone could type javscript and sh*t in it
defbyte
no javascript at all...
at the moment...
cythrawll
doesn't matter, people can inject sites with javascript
smith007

smith007

value=<?="$code"?>>
jbrimble

defbyte
smith007: please go to www.google.com an type "free webspace" ... i'm shure you'll find a local service provider for this ...
richardlynch
jbrimble: echo $row_number % 2 == 0 ? 'red' : 'blue';
Wig
don't matter, i got it
smith007
<defbyte> unable to find any with php support
they were all lieing
defbyte

swim
ok thx
MusashiX90
Instead of having the answer in the javascript alert, it has the first part, such as "Mr. Smith" being the full answer, it will only have javascript:alert('Mr
richardlynch
Musashix90: You'd have to define "won't output properly" for us.
Krunk
Hi. Using sessions by cookie, for a given logged-in session, would $_COOKIE['PHPSESSID'] be identical to $_REQUEST['PHPSESSID'], or for that fact, to $_SESSION['PHPSESSID']? Why I ask: I've run into a situation where a bot somehow has mangled/corrupted the The session id contains illegal characters, valid characters are a-z, A-Z, 0-9 and '-,' . So far, the activity seems to involve two bots: voyager/1.0 and MJ12bot/v1.07.
defbyte
borland
MusashiX90: put quotes around the href=javascript bot
*bit
richardlynch
Krunk: The bots can send any damn thing they want for PHPSESSID in $_COOKIE or $_REQUEST -- much harder for anybody to alter $_SESSION -- they'd need access to server-side files for that.
defbyte
(only .at.tf, de.tf. eu.tf, co.at.tf, net.tf)
KimmoA1
OT: In BBSes, do you think that the "signature" part of messages should be "unsticky", so that if user x writes some posts with a certain signature, and then updates the signature, his old posts (all of them) will contain the updated signature when viewed in the future? Or should signatures be smashed into the history book by including them in the actual posts? I have always thought of them as "unsticky", but perhaps there's a point with making them
"sticky"?
smith007
CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLS
borland
so it's <a href="javascript:alert('$answer')">..</a>
KimmoA1
smith007: Maybe if you ask a question...
borland
otherwise it'll die at the first space it finds, that's standard HTML
MusashiX90
Alright, thanks.
defbyte
smith007... relax a bit and search google also ...
richardlynch
KimmoA1: Unsticky. Some users have bots to alter their .sig at random. :-)
defbyte
i'm look ...
MusashiX90
It worked.
smith007
NEED SOMEWHERE TO RUN MY PHP FORM ACTION WEB TO MAIL FORM

KimmoA1
richardlynch: What do you mean about the bots part?
borland
smith007: WE CAN'T HELP YOU WITH THAT
smith007: THIS CHANNEL IS FOR PROGRAMMING, NOT FOR HOSTING YOUR SPAM EMAIL BOT
Krunk
richardlynch: Hi. So would a session_regenerate_id() have any effect on their activity? My error log is filling up with their nonsense!
smith007
