TML
I don't even know what wiki would consider that a WikiWord
zimnyx
BigE: i use http://wikkawiki.org
BigE
zimnyx: Ah, two sinle quotes is highlighting...
"''" should work, according to their documentation.
(double single single double)
philip
you are too kind :)
BigE
Heh, I'm bored as sh*t.
plus it was kinda hard to find on that age.
They deffinately could have made it a ton clearer
philip
i just skimmed FormattingRules and did not see it
zimnyx
(Action) too
Thanks BigE
philip
ah
Note: Anything between 2 sets of double-quotes is not formatted.
TML
One would assume they use a wiki for their documentation, in which case, it falls to zimnyx as a user of the wiki to fix the problem. :)

philip
the first line :)
mattmcc
(Action) hrms. Need to pay for hashphp.org.
philip
it's in brown text as opposed to black
add paypal link for donations :)
who pays for hashphp bandwidth?
cerveros
hi, I have a problem, how can I see output errors in php,? I know I have to configure php.ini, but I don't know what
philip
display_errors and error_reporting directives
enygma
%^$^@# bulk registrars
Vlet
cerveros: You may also check your apache (assuming it's apache) error log to see what's wrong
zimnyx
BigE: ""''"" - that is right one
cerveros
how?
Vlet
cerveros: What OS are you on?
cerveros
Suse 10.1
TML
philip: Davey
Vlet
cerveros: check /var/log/httpd/error_log
cerveros: or, as philip suggested, look in your php.ini file for the display_errors, error_reporting, etc settings
cerveros
hmm I can see the error in httpd\error_log, but it isn't in firefox
richardlynch
cerveros: That is good, cuz you really don't want end users seeing nasty error messages.
Vlet
cerveros: that's probably because in your php.ini, display_errors is set to 'Off' set it to On
cerveros
it is On
Im sure Xd
Macskeeball
I'm trying to use a functions.php file to store common functions for the first time. I've done includes and requires before, but for some reason I'm having an issue when doing so with functions. functions.php is in the same directory as the other scripts, and I include it with include("./functions.php"); There's only one function in there at this point, and it works when directly in the other scripts but not when I try to use
richardlynch
No! Don't set it to on. Just read your log files :-)
cerveros
display_errors = On

Vlet
how about display_startup_errors=On
Macskeeball
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: _fetch_remote_file() in /Library/Apache2/htdocs/stumble_upon/index.php on line 16
richardlynch
ververos: Did you re-start Apache?
Vlet
cerveros: richardlynch is right :)
richardlynch
Macskeeball: Your function starts with a '_' character?...
Vlet
but I find it useful to turn it on temporarily as you're getting things set up
Macskeeball
The weird thing is the error also includes the code of that function in functions.php.
yes, I was following an example.
it still works inline.
richardlynch
Maybe you are missing a QUOTE mark, so the PHP source ends up being stuck in some variable and then...
Macskeeball
Ok, I'm checking for that now.
cerveros
sorry, I'm stupid, haven't restart apache
thx
Macskeeball
No, I'm not missing any quotes.
BigE
sweet! only 30 more minutes
Macskeeball
I suppose I'll try it without the initial underscore, although I doubt it's making a difference.
No difference.
And yes, I changed all instances.
l2website
how do i get info grabed from an sql query to scroll .... marquee doesnt work
Macskeeball
Full error message: http://macskeeball.dnsalias.com/stumble_upon/
mattmcc
l2website: Try #web, #html, or #javascript
l2website
but this is in a php instance
mattmcc
It has nothing to do with PHP.
Macskeeball
PHP is server side.
BigE
l2website: It doesn't matter where it comes from, you need the right HTML/JS setup, try the channels mattmcc suggested.
l2website
....
philip
Macskeeball: include functions.php before using functions within it
Macskeeball
I am.
l2website
ok guys i'm getting tired of comming in here and u never help me ... u help everyone else ... i had to figure out how to get my query listed on my site something i asked for help with and i got nothing
philip
Macskeeball: use <?php ?> in the include
jpeg
l2website: get a refund in #customerservice
mattmcc
l2website: Well, in this instance, you're asking an HTML and/or JS question.
Macskeeball
philip: Oh wow. I can't believe I made that mistake.
mattmcc
Short of direct you to the right place for that question, there's not much to be done.
Macskeeball
philip: Thanks.
philip
np :)
BigE
l2website: You didn't ask a PHP question this time. Sure, it's in a PHP file, and you're using PHP to output it, but... the output is HTML and JavaScript, which has nothing to do with PHP and is why you need to try other channels.
l2website
well maybe this time ur right
Touqen
you are*
l2website
but i have come in here befor and ive got nothing but the run around for php questions
Touqen
We're nickists.
Your name isn't pure.
l2gatekeepers
there
daysleepr
is there a simple way to determine how many times a particular string appears in another string?
Touqen
I was making a joke.
daysleepr: substr_count
daysleepr
i built a few lines that check to see if .com or .org or .net appears more than thrice in a string
but its ugly...
ah, let me try that!
thank ya
BigE
l2website: You might also want to try to not use aolbonics...
l2gatekeepers
.... ¿¿¿
philip
heh
Wolfpaws
eek
!+enter
php-bot
Don't use the enter key as punctuation. Think in complete thoughts, then type.
BigE
!tell l2gatekeepers about aolbonics
l2gatekeepers
I would like information on how to get an sql query to scroll the marquee tag does not work for this instance ... this would be of great help even if its not a php tag thank you for listening
HAPPY!!??
Touqen
l2gatekeepers: no
This _isn't_ a php issue.
daysleepr
thank you tougen, that is exactly what i needed =)
Touqen
Go to #web.
bemson
need help installing php with mysql support
BigE
l2gatekeepers: No, because again, it doesn't pertain to PHP. You *need* to try other channels such as #web or #html
daysleepr
bye all
mattmcc
l2gatekeepers: I gave you three appropriate channels for an HTML question.
philip
bemson: php.net/mysql
l2gatekeepers
i'm in all 3
bemson
i'll go there (again) and come back
BigE
bemson: What are you having problems with?
Touqen
l2gatekeepers: doubtful because i'm in one of them
BigE
As am I.
Touqen
he just showed up
l2gatekeepers
do a whois geesh
BigE
(Action) nods
l2gatekeepers
so i missed web
BigE
l2gatekeepers: You just need to understand that PHP has no control over how the browser sees it. HTML has control over that, and that's why it isn't a PHP question.
philip
we need a faq "Why does ##php seemingly hate me?"
BigE
(Action) chuckles
Touqen
philip: And the answer: "There is no seemingly about it."
Teltariat
Ouch
Thats rough.
l2gatekeepers
ohh yah because there is another part of my site i need php code for and i'm sure when i come in here to ask about it you will no doubt brush me off
Touqen
depends on how you word the question
philip
it heh
Touqen
If you sound like you are foaming at the fingers then yes we will brush you off.
l2gatekeepers
laugh out loud ... and i mean i'm laughing right now
Touqen
If you sound like you at least graduated eigth year english then we may pay attention to you.
BigE
l2gatekeepers: Yes, we will. It's that 2 in your nick... I hate it.
philip
your attitude is without a doubt "abrasive"
l2gatekeepers
yah because every time i come in here no matter how passive i am ... i get no where with you guys
Touqen
l2gatekeepers: I seriously doubt that's true.
leku
hi
philip
if you ask a proper question, you will get a proper reply, most likely
leku
i'm trying to supply a socket to mysql_pconnect and it's saying it does not support my authentication protocol
i have two different instances/versions of mySQL running
so i'm wondering maybe it is looking at the wrong mysql client library or something?
BigE
l2gatekeepers: Then stop coming here. You're starting to get annoying.
Touqen
leku: php (4) can only support one client library at a time
the mysql extension can only use one and the mysqli ext can use another in 5
leku
so
can i tell it which one to support tho?
i only want it to support one.. i have 3.25.32 and mysql 5
i want the libs from 5
BigE
leku: Yes, see http://php.net/mysql to tell PHP which libs to use.
leku
thx
this goes into the php.ini right?
Sutabi
Anyone here know how to compile php but not as a cgi for apache?
Touqen
leku: It's more at compile time then in the php.ini
BigE
leku: No, you have to specify which libs to use when you're compiling.
xshad
