Keal: rename
^Migs^
just copy and delete, sheesh
that too
rename in Linux is really move
Keal
thank you
sean`
GNN-Ricardo; Try sending it to another e-mail adress
Stormchaser
there is no 'move' in linux. There is 'mv', tho
itrebal
Stormchaser: lol, someone i was teaching linux to wanted a 'rename' function
GNN-Ricardo
sean` what's your e-mail?
sean`
(Action) mv's Stormchaser Stormy
Stormchaser
itrebal: haha :)

Keal
http://www.php.net/manual/en/wrappers.php i still dont understand what a url wrapper is
sean`
GNN-Ricardo; Use your websites e-mal adres
GNN-Ricardo
ok i will try ricardo@gnn.com.br
Keal
is .. a url wrapper?
Stormchaser
no.
sean`
I believe that would be the function you use
Stormchaser
URL is an address...
sean`
Oh wait
I'm a little off-track
Keal
then what is a url wrapper?
sean`
Not the PHP function, but the protocol you use
right?
||cw
Keal: in general a wrapper allows something to be used by something else that normaly wouldn't be able to
Keal
like a demux?
||cw
Keal: a url wrapper allows urls, like http://, ftp://, etc to be use by any file functions, like readfile()
Keal
oh ok
||cw sounds insecure?
GNN-Ricardo
sean` i received the e-mail with success, any ideas?
sean`
GNN-Ricardo; Then there should be nothing wrong.
Or the hotmail server si chocking or your headers
Keal
Or the hotmail server is choking on your headers?
frank_farmer
Keal: There are ways to disable that functionality for security. Specifically, allow_url_fopen
GNN-Ricardo
can you send e-mail to hotmail by php?
sean`
Yes
Keal; Don't copy my answers

GNN-Ricardo
please past to me your php mail script
Keal
i was fixing your lazy typos
(Action) goes downstairs
sean`
Keal; I'm sorry I was in such a hurry typing them.. I have other things to do you know ;)
GNN-Ricardo; My php mail script?
GNN-Ricardo
i mean, your headers...
sean`
mail ('Name <email@host.com>', 'my subject', 'fooo bar hey whats up yeah I\'m soo cool!', 'From: ame <email@host.com>' . "\r\n" . 'Reply-To: name <email@host.com>' . "\r\n");
ks
am I missing some other check here ? if($v2=='' || $v2=='0' || is_null($v2) || empty($v2)){
Stormchaser
the heck? Why not just use empty()?!?
Ahroun
ks: Uh, depends on what you're trying to do. Might also want to check ===false (or use empty)
GNN-Ricardo
i will change to: mail ('Name <toribas@hotmail.com>', 'my subject', 'fooo bar hey whats up yeah I\'m soo cool!', 'From: ame <la@gnn.com.br>' . "\r\n" . 'Reply-To: name <la@gnn.com.br>' . "\r\n");
ks
looking for empty fields from mysql
empty might be 0, NULL etc
GNN-Ricardo
sean` this script got error!
frank_farmer
Ahroun
Time for me to head home, yay, work's over. See ya' soon! :)
sean`
Then fix them..
Ahroun
well... not so soon. Tomorrow morning.
GNN-Ricardo
that is not your script? i think the first colun it's wrong
sean`
whats the error GNN-Ricardo ?
ks
frank_farmer thanks
GNN-Ricardo
i think it's only toribas... not NAME <>
sean`
GNN-Ricardo; 'name' should be changed to YOUR NAME <your@email.com>
Ricardo <ricardo@foo.com>
GNN-Ricardo
http://host.gnn.com.br/m.php look the error
PHP Warning: mail(): SMTP server response: 501 5.5.4 Invalid Address in c:\domains\host.gnn.com.br\wwwroot\m.php on line 7
sean`
You can also just use the e-mail adress.. 'ricardo@foo.com' instead of 'name <ricardo@foo.com>'
GNN-Ricardo
line 7: 'Reply-To: name <la@gnn.com.br>' . "\r\n");
ks
Stormchaser cause some values pass the above check
sean`
GNN-Ricardo; Please read php.net/mail
copy the contents
use t hat script there
I'm too tired to be helping people
alphablue
sean: go to sleep then
Seldo
I am getting an apache-crash every time I run the following line: $output = file('http://localhost:9013/content/view/2');
Is there some reason apache would crash if you ask PHP to store its own output?
alphablue
what do the error logs say ?
frank_farmer
Seldo: are you calling the script over and over again recursively?
Seldo
frank_farmer: nope, it's not a recursive call.
I can output the value of $output
r0xoR
what's the ini set function called?
Seldo
The crash occurs after that.
r0xoR
i can't find it when i search for ini in the docs
frank_farmer
r0xoR: ini_set()
r0xoR
it just takes me to the ini directives page
huh
k
GNN-Ricardo
i found the problem sean` //This line DOES NOT send mail message correctly
$headers .= "From: \"".$fromname."\" <".$fromaddress.">\n";
||cw
Seldo: so http://localhost:9013/content/view/2 isn't the file with that file() call in it, right?
GNN-Ricardo
//This line sends mail message correctly
Seldo
alphablue: the error logs say "[notice] Parent: child process exited with status 3221225477"
GNN-Ricardo
$headers .= "From: \"".$fromaddress."\"\n";
tempest1
GNN-Ricardo: using \r\n not \n
Seldo
Which looks like an overflow of some kind. Do I just have an unstable copy of apache?
tempest1
s/using/use/
Seldo, yea, no process can exit with any number but an unsigned short (0-255)
Menthol
do i set configuration directives in an htaccess file or in the scripts?
Seldo
This is apache 2.0.45/php5.1.1/winXP
||cw
Menthol: depends on the directive
Seldo
I guess I should upgrade apache :-)
mattmcc
Menthol: Whichever is appropriate.
Menthol: Some directives can't be set from scripts, some can't be set from either.
frank_farmer
Seldo: are you using a non-threaded version? There's something about php requiring some prefork version of apache...
Menthol
im looking at register_globals
and session.auto start
||cw
Seldo: if you not using the prefork-MPM then certain non-threadsafe php modules can case apache to crash badly
Seldo
frank_farmer: surely the thread-safe problems could only occur in a multi-user environment? Thread safety is only a problem when you have more than one thread active... right?
Okay, so where do I get a prefork-MPM, whatever the hell that is? :-)
(Action) is going to try apache 2.2 first, in case it was a known bug
frank_farmer
Seldo: I'd think that if a script is calling the same server back, that'd result in the instantiation of another apache thread, no? Since it has to serve two pages at once?
||cw
Seldo: no. threading is built into apache. IIRC it's one of te apache compile options, or an install option, or soemthing
mattmcc
It's just a matter of selecting the MPM to use.
Prefork is included by default.
frank_farmer
Seldo
I am using CakePHP, so I have no idea what modules it is using -- certainly mod_rewrite, but it could be using any number of other things.
Stormchaser

Apache 2 the newest version of the Apache web server. PHP versions 4.3 and above are somewhat compatible with it. Because of Threadsafety Issues, mostly in extension libraries, the Multi-Threaded MPMs should be avoided. The Prefork MPM works in a similar fashion to Apache 1.3.x and appears to work accordingly. See http://news.php.net/php.internals/10491 for a more detailed explaination.
Devyll
how can i redirect to other page after i sent the Header ???????
||cw
Devyll: javascript for http meta refresh
Stormchaser
Seldo: How is that ##php question? Try #cakephp
Seldo
"And finally, this warning against using a threaded MPM is not as strong for Windows systems because most libraries on that platform tend to be threadsafe."
Stormchaser: it is not a php question, it was a clarification of my ongoing conversation about why php keeps crashing apache :-)
mtgh
Hello, all, I use horde right now, and it seems that there are much better frameworks out there. What do you guys think of cake vs symfony ? Thanks for the help
Seldo
mtgh: I am using cake, and I like it a lot, but read the manual, not the wiki -- the wiki is very confusing.
symfony seemed a lot more complicated to set up, but is probably more suited to larger projects (especially if you need internationalization)
GodKilla-
hey all
anyone awake=?
mtgh
seldo: it seems that symfony is more mature....or at least has more features.
GodKilla-
ah
Seldo
mtgh: it depends if what you want is a powerful framework, or a framework that saves you time.
Zmanu
hi
Seldo
I feel that the whole point of a framework is rapid development.
Zmanu
i want to create a file, what must i use ?
GodKilla-
only 1 quick questions, >>$m = $_GET['m'];<< what i you dont overgive $m to the file, what value has it got then?
Zmanu
i think touch like in linux, but that's not ok
Seldo
Zmanu: notepad?
;-)
GodKilla-
i = if*
frank_farmer
Zmanu: the touch() function should work perfectly.
Zmanu
Seldo: with php
Devyll
I want to sent a diffrent ip to the website that a php script connect .... is this possible ?
Seldo
Zmanu: you should have specified ;-)
GodKilla-: if you don't pass a value for m, it will be undefined
You can test that with is_defined or is_null
GodKilla-
ah
php.net says defined
int defined ( string name )
frank_farmer
Devyll: Yes. curl_setopt() with CURLOPT_INTERFACE will do the trick.
GodKilla-
so if (defined ($m) == TRUE) { ... }
Keal
thank you, rename worked
frank_farmer
GodKilla-: defined() is for constants. You're dealing with variables, so you must use is_defined()
GodKilla-
ah, thanks
frank_farmer
From the docs: defined -- Checks whether a given named ___constant___ exists
