jiggster
at least i stopped before i did zip :p
itrebal
jiggster: i also have hourly builds of PHP6 for no reason... http://tools.itrebal.com/various/conf.txt
phpmattk_
Sembiance: tidy will definately do it.. it looks like there are a lot of other more light weight classes out there that will do it, just google it
jiggster
itrebal: lol nice
Stormchaser
um
jiggster
uhm?
gizban
does anyone know of a good PHP forum? I mean a forum about PHP development, not a necessarily a forum written in PHP.
jiggster
(Action) sips a rum & coke
@see yabb, phpbb, etc
lol kidding
mrkris
:-o

itrebal
phpfreaks i went to it for a while
phpmattk_
phpbuilder
i have to say though, i've never gotten response on a message board faster than i could google it my damn self
mrkris
jiggster: do you use simplexml ?
Stormchaser
Well... phpbb's politics have changed sdrastically for phpbb3... It'd be interesting to see, what will come out...
jiggster
i have... but not in depth at all
mrkris
i use $xml = simplexml_load_file($file); and it returns the xml, but it doesn't display the attributes
i'm not sure if i am forgetting to do something or what
py1nb___
how can I identify a url in a string? is there any ready function for it?
nphase
py1nb___: look for a regex for it
phpmattk_
py1nb___: php.net/preg_match
py1nb___
ok tnx
TheDeathArt
evening
phpmattk_
then look in the comments
nphase
py1nb___: is there a specific reason you're looking for it? ie to turn it into an a href?
or what
py1nb___
nphase, yes
TheDeathArt
im looking for some thoughts about doing a php script with a persistent connection
py1nb___
nphase, I meant turn it to a href
Stormchaser
TheDeathArt: Main question: WHY?
phpmattk_
py1nb___: once you get it use $url = parse_url($url);
nphase
py1nb___: i think i already have a preg for that
hold on
TheDeathArt
the idea of having a connection constantly open, and not much a xmlhttprequest that runs a php script each send
wouldn't that be smarter ?

jiggster
seems to me simplexml had probs with attribs for a buddy of mine too
Stormchaser
TheDeathArt: Um... What are you planning to do?
TheDeathArt
a webchat (iknow it sounds childish)
phpmattk_
TheDeathArt: not at all... its be horribly slow once a few people connected.. its a stateless protocol for a reason
jiggster
java, activex maybe
:\
Lucidix
according to my experiences with it, simplexml can access the attributes, but it won't show them in a dump. you have to *know* the structure in order to access and process it properly, but it's not very good at reading in a structure in order to let you analyze it and see whats up
TheDeathArt
well, java would require a server. the idea was to create it pear2pear
Stormchaser
TheDeathArt: Flash.
TheDeathArt
combined with php and a database
owh
(Action) wonders why the wheel keeps being re-invented with chatrooms, chatbots, etc.
TheDeathArt
seems interesting
owh since most people don't lanch it open source
and its a fun experiment
we are coders for a reason :)
Stormchaser
owh: Because it's incredibly stupid, yet fun.
owh
TheDeathArt: Then you need to do some more googling and think of useful problems to solve :-)
phpmattk_
check out sugarcrm.com and click chat.. connects to irc through browser with active x script.. opensource
TheDeathArt
activeX is like laughtable
phpmattk_
it like works
owh
Anyone know why the /topic contains SPAM?
Stormchaser
oh, that reminds me...
TheDeathArt
phpmattk_ yes, but thats also possible without activex , hehe
phpmattk_
yeah
TheDeathArt
well, perhaps i should look into flash again
shouldn't be to advanced
owh
Stormchaser: Tah.
Stormchaser
I had plans to do that for entire day... no idea, why I didn't
owh
Stormchaser: Busy writing chat scripts :-)
Stormchaser
owh: ...right...
TheDeathArt
creating cms-engines, template systems, webshops using webservices
itrebal
Stormchaser: my Kitchen Sink module is nearly back
TheDeathArt
and stuff like that.. is BOORING
Stormchaser
I don't code at weekends... My policy still stands, and it's in use for some time now :)
jiggster
lol i suck at typing
52 WPM
owh
(Action) is playing with VoIP and in the process of upgrading satellite connectivity from 400kBit to 1mBit :-)
itrebal
jiggster: hehehhe.... i dont get that fast
owh: i have my own VoIP setup - nc -lp 9000 < /dev/dsp > /dev/dsp
owh: :)
owh
itrebal: Get much in the way of calls ? ;-)
itrebal
owh: for sure! hehe, actually i do
phpmattk_
anyone read that cringly thing about voip and the wrt54gl
owh
phpmattk_: URL?
itrebal
hehe, the current CVS of PHP6 is bad, dont get it
Stormchaser
itrebal: It breaks?
itrebal
Stormchaser: not compiling write ATM, either that or just giving a few errors in the make process
mismatched types, i think
TheDeathArt
since you now cave me this crazy idea of flash.. wouldn't flash do the same as JS ? just query constantly ?
owh
phpmattk_: The WRT is a pretty nice platform for all kinds of stuff. I know people who run Asterisk on it. Another is doing live on the fly authentication for payment systems on one.
itrebal
Stormchaser: http://tools.itrebal.com/various/info.php it causes havoc in my phpinfo, anyway
Stormchaser
TheDeathArt: Then write a servlet in Java
itrebal
Stormchaser: but my kitchen sink module is compiled!
jiggster
lol
TheDeathArt
well, it was just a yes/no question =)
mtappenden
With HTML if I have a table in my page how can I make it go the whole way down the page (top to bottom) rather than just taking up as much room as it needs for the content to fit in
I thought height="100%" would do it but it doesn't work
Stormchaser
TheDeathArt: I don't know Flash that much, but it's probably have to work via HTTP, so your answer is 'yes'
TheDeathArt
oki
Stormchaser
itrebal: What does your module do?
mtappenden
Anyone can help?
itrebal
Stormchaser: ATM adds things to the phpinfo :)
owh
mtappenden: Well in #web you'd get an answer to that.
Stormchaser
itrebal: funny :)
mtappenden
Thanks
Stormchaser
Hm... Have to switch to Windows... Be back in a tiny little bit.
itrebal
wah??!
flyman
Anyone know why in a certain folder I can't upload a file to a directory that was made via php but also is chmodded to 777?
owh
flyman: Are you sure that's what's actually happening?
flyman
owh well i made a script that makes user accounts (folders as their dir) and im trying to upload via ftp to their folder and cant says permission denied
aidan
chmod the folder
flyman
aidan i did
to 777
tarheel1
why would imagestring($image, 4, 200, 100, $maxStock * (($imgHeight*(1-$graphspacing))/$max, $colorBlack); give unexpected (,)
Pollita
Using what?
chmod on the command line?
or the chmod() function in php?
owh
tarheel1: Count your brackets.
flyman
Pollita: well using FlashFXP and a file manager tool in cpanel
tarheel1
ah, thanks
Davey
Pollita: Hey there :)
flyman
Pollita but in the script i use a chmod command for the folder
Pollita
Davey: Heya hon
flyman: What *exact* command?
owh
tarheel1: A tip: Brackets come in pairs, always an even number :-)
flyman
Pollita: mkdir($_POST['username'], 0777);
Pollita
That's not chmod, that's mkdir
owh
flyman: Hmm, nice bit of inject-able code you have there :-)
Pollita
owh: One thing at a time :)
owh
Pollita: ROTFL - and g'day :-)
flyman
Pollita well yeah i make the folder and set permission
aidan
umask
exonic2
flyman, you allow them to make directories anywhere your web server has write acess.
Pollita
"The mode is also modified by the current umask, which you can change using umask()."
Did you read that part of the manual page?
aidan
"manual page?!"
Pollita
aidan: They're new.
flyman
Pollita actually thats how i learned to do that command
owh
exonic2: As Pollita pointed out, one thing at a time :-)
exonic2
*sigh*
security first!
Jymmm
Pollita: I know theoretically it's 4.3G, but do you know the actual qty of public ip's under IPv4 ?
owh
exonic2: Fair point :-)
flyman
Pollita so should i just do mkdir($_POST['username']); and then chmod the folder seperately?
Pollita
(2^32) - (3 * 2^24) - (2^29)
Jymmm
php-bot (2^32) - (3 * 2^24) - (2^29)
php-bot
-27
Pollita
erm s/3 * 2^24/2^25/
I counted a couple /8s twice
aidan
flyman: no, set the umask to 0
Davey
Anyone here use Eclipse for PHP?
flyman
aidan ok
Jymmm
php-bot (2^32) - (2^25) - (2^29)
php-bot
-24
exonic2
