hello
i have used debug.attach in AS 10g for debugging a form on the remote AS from the local forms builder. but i dont see how to detach the debugger. the only way is to stop the form totally, which is not what i want
realHans
Hi. Every Oracle instance (10g) on my server takes just one processorcore. Is there a trick to let it use two or more ?
Symbi0nt
is anything in an oracle databasde case sensitive?
table names, column names, methods etc?
realHans
:p dunno ..
Azareth
hi all
I have a problem with oracle ucm and apache server used like reverse proxy
the problem is that I added a new website but on its address I see the information from the site that already was on the content server, any ideas?
sytse
sh*t.. how do I debug an oracle bug when oracle closes the connection whenever I execute the buggy sql statement?
mgolisch
?
alertlogs/tracefiles?
sytse
good point. I guess it's early ;-)
ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [ltxvmUnion()+282] [SIGSEGV] [Address not mapped to object] [0x000000000] [] []
that's more useful
(it hits the bogus address in many places at different times, it's always a segfault though)
Exception signal: 11 (SIGSEGV), code: 1 (Address not mapped to object), addr: 0x0, PC: [0x35e5e2e, ltxvmUnion()+282]
oracle is weird.. the rest of the world calls that a 'null pointer dereference'

Rudemeister
ah
niiice
dsdel: or note 427229.1
dsdel
i'm always to lazy to login to metalink hehehe
Rudemeister
dsdel: will it work on 10gR2?
dsdel
Rudemeister: it's below 'new features in 11g rman'
so I don't suppose to work on 10g r2
but - if you are on linux - you could try to inject the commands to rman through a bash script
Rudemeister
hmm
interesting
I run a shell script from cron that starts rman with a file which contains the commands
steelnwool
hello.
RJarett
hi
steelnwool
how does "backupset" differ from "autoback" ?
in my flashback recovery area.
RJarett
autoback? you mean controlfile autobackup?
im thinking that may be some directory someone made themselves
steelnwool
Hrmm, I think rman must have made it. and i used a enterprise manager to make rman to is thing.
I'll just quit the channel now before you and i get in an argument about using enterprise manager.
dr_dimitri
strange ??
mastro
how do I make a war file share the same classloader of another war at the same level? (example: EAR -> [first.war, second.war]) make the second.war use the same classloader as the first.war

(11g - 10.3)

I am trying to set up the oracle runtime on windows 7 and set the correct enviroment variables. (i haven't done this in a couple years) I believe I need ORACLE_BASE, ORACLE_HOME and TNS_ADMIN and in ORACLE_BASE=D:\oracle\ ORACLE_HOME=D:\oracle\product\11.2.0 TNS_ADMIN=D:\oracle\product\11.2.0\client\network\admin where i would put the sqlnet.ora file and tnsnames.ora file... does this sound right?
dr_dimitri
pdlnhrd: Which problems do you have? And what do you mean with "runtime"? There is no Oracle runtime.
mgolisch
probably the client
pdlnhrd
Yes the runtime client
dr_dimitri
Which client? There is no runtime client. You have either the full Oracle client or the instant client.
Anmd which problems do you have?
pdlnhrd
win64_11gR2client.zip where I unzip it run the installer and choose runtime

dr_dimitri
Ok. So it is the full client
And which problems do you have?
pdlnhrd
I am trying to tnsping and I am getting an error Message 3511 not found
dr_dimitri
Ok. Seems as if ORACLE_HOME is not set proper.
pdlnhrd
should it be D:\oracle\product\11.2.0 or D:\oracle\product\11.2.0\client
or D:\oracle\product
dr_dimitri
I think second
third should be ORACLE_BASE
pdlnhrd
which is set to D:\oracle
dr_dimitri
Hmm ccould also be correct. Depends on the directory you choose while installing
pdlnhrd
I choose D:\oracle as to where to put all the files
mgolisch
hm doesnt the installer set the env vars?
pdlnhrd
it only set the PATH
dr_dimitri
If you open regedit and look at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE is ORACLE_HOME set correct?
RJarett
search the directory. set your oracle_home to 1 directory below where you find the bin folder containing sqlplus.exe
dr_dimitri
mgolisch: It should.
in the regestry
registry
mgolisch
oh right i think it looks in the registry first
RJarett
but it comes with an oracle home selector
just run that
i seriously dont understand how people can mess up something so basic
pdlnhrd
there is no binary called home selector..... is there another name for it?
RJarett
its in your program files
pdlnhrd
you mean in BIN?
D:\oracle\product\11.2.0\client\BIN
RJarett
your oracle home should be D:\oracle\product\11.2.0\client
pdlnhrd
it is windows that makes it difficult i can install this on solaris all day long... i rarely have to set up a client
setting oracle home to D:\oracle\product\11.2.0\client fixed the problem
RJarett
imagine that
pdlnhrd
Thank you everyone for your help I can now tnsping
