i have a cursor thats using a parm passed in from the procedure in the where clause but it seems to be selecting everything.... wierd
I do use upper on them...hmm
that is so weird LOL ... you can't use a parameter thats passed in... it has to be defined haha
can you rollback a drop table?

I'm trying to make a schema for an E-R diagram, which has a composite attribute in it, how might I do that with oracle sql?

sh*t.. to generate html with xslt in the oracle database (10g), do I really have to generate xml and use some string processing hacks to somewhat make the result sgml/html-ish? :/
and there are many bugs in the xslt implementation (including that it drops *many* spaces that should be there) :(
sometimes I really hate oracle..
even xml:space doesn't work
waaiiit a minute.. it somehow strips spaces from the *stylesheet* document before applying the stylesheet, with <![CDATA[ ]]> instead of a simple space it magically works.. sick.
mgolisch
why is that sick?

Hello
Why publish bugs http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/readmes.112/e11015/toc.htm#insertedID38
I suppose because these are fixed by patches distributed via OTN ?
nope
RJarett2: hey, you online?
usn_work
nope

omg
pga_agregate_target was set to the same value as memory_target
:(
i guess thats why all stuff freaked out
dddh
hm
(Action) should read more about regexp
mgolisch
wow the optimizer beats me, it doesnt output stuff in order anymore when i do joins on ordered views
guess because i do not use a order by in the outer select, i wonder why that allways worked in 10g
:)
bah, now i have to change all my packages :(
hali
mgolisch: never assume anything is ordered unless you have a specific order by clause in your query
sometimes it works perfect, by chance...
mgolisch
we have been doing that for years
every day
and it allways worked on the 10g box
but your right thats no rule so its our fault
i wonder if i could sometune the optimizer behavior so that would work as before
so stuff works and i have time to change all the queries
somehow

Is the BETWEEN command is Oracle any different than in normal SQL?
zasz
where NUMBER BETWEEN 1000 and 5000 is the same as (NUMBER >= 1000 and NUMBER <= 5000)
dddh
hm, sqlplus doesn't like ldap ;(
Ramen
can you assign values to variables in a view? I did a query in one field and would like to reuse it
like it's a sub query in the select part o.o
Xgc
Ramen: Usually done with a derived table, so that you can refer to that result several times.
Ramen
oh thanks
