guys ive installed basic devel and sqlplus client parts, what am i missing, as i dont have tnsping (tho maybe this is optional) still problem is that i set oracle_home ld_lib path, tns_admin, got tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora set up etc, all seems right, but still TOra dont see tnsnames.ora file

oracle-instantclient11.2-sqlplus-11.2.0.1.0-1.i386.rpm

Well I'm just guessing now. Does sqlplus work? By the way: If you use sql developer you don't need a tnsnames any more. Just a hint.
Trengo
can you ping the host running oracle?
can you telnet the port oracle is listening on?
are old connect strings supported? i think they are
Reign1
Trengo: im on fresh kubuntu install, so no old connections here, and yes i can do all these things, problem is why TOra doesnt list my connections from tnsnames.ora file
Trengo
maybe TOra (whatever that is) doesnt use tnsnames?
you say you set env vars, but did you export them, and in caps?
