Question: how can I get the full list of character set supported by Oracle?
dsdel
progesterone: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=oracle+supported+character+sets
progesterone
dsdel Ha' Ha' ... Thanks I've googled before. I just couldn't find the full list.
dsdel I got it from your search result. Thanks
dsdel
after what phrase did you google?
progesterone
dsdel I think I use very similar phrase.

what is the difference between colocated database and non-colocated database in oracle application server?
stede
runInstaller -executePrereqs always stucks on "Checking Users With Same UID.." on 100% ... whats wrong? I guess i have to create a "nobody:nobody" user?!
where the group nobody (id 99) already exists

[Weblogic] I need to define some java properties for each server of a cluster, I'm setting them manually for every cluster but I'd like to set it once per-cluster, how do I do that?
jeevan_ullas_
hi lal
all*
stede
still need to know why the check of "users with same uid" don't pass :-/
jeevan_ullas_
does anyone have any pointers for the following -> http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1076586&tstart=0
we are trying to migrate code from aix 5.3 to aix 6.1 and oracle is upgraded from oracle 10 to 11
stede
why ./runInstaller -executePrerreqs get stuck on "Check Users With Same UID..." ? -> id oracle and id nobody give the the same output as on antoher machiene where the prereqs can pass without any trouble - the only difference is centOS 5.4 and 5.5
should i try to install anyway without passing the test ... maybe inside the installation.routine it won't get stuck?!
Trengo
stede fix your /etc/passwd,shadow,group
stede
the id oracle / id nobody output is the same on both machines
must be the pw-hash in the shadow file the same if the user oracle got the same pw. or is it possible that there are different hashes while using the same pw?
Trengo
make sure you dont have two accounts with the same id
make sure the oracle user is in dba group
stede
i will compare the /etc/passwd of both systems ...
uid=501(oracle) gid=501(oinstall) groups=501(oinstall),502(dba)
and no double used uid in /etc/passwd
Trengo
looks good
dunno
stede
the system wehre it works has this users in addition to the system wehre it dont run: named, mailnull, smmsp, dovecot
the hashs in the /etc/shadow aren't the same (ame user and same password choosen)
Trengo
the password hashes dont matter
look at the installer logs?
stede
mhm ... i don't know if any logs will be created when in run ./runINstaller - executePrereqs
whther where they can be located
console gave no hints
mastro
I'm looking for the weblogic apache module (mod_wl_22) but I can't find it anywhere under the oracle website, can someone help me? thanks
gladier
mastro: it'll be somewhere in one of the downloads here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/middleware/index.html
mastro
gladier, I looked at it over and over again.. can't find it
gladier
from what i've been reading - its in WL_HOME\Server\bin and locate the file (where WL_HOME is the Weblogic installation directory)
mastro
gladier, the only think I was able to find is this: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/fusion_middleware/wls103/cluster/Config_Proxy_srvr/Config_Proxy_srvr.htm which say that you should go to another page to download the archive with the apache module, the page is this: http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/security/alerts/alert_cve2008-3257.html and I can't find anyway to module there
gladier, oh.. I see now.. searching inside the installed weblogic server I found the apache module
gladier, wlserver_10.3/server/plugin/linux/x86_64/mod_wl_22.so
gladier, thanks
gladier
:)

Trengo: the prereq-check in the installation runs wihtout any trouble - strange

hi i have a question please actually i have a rac oracle 10G on this rac oracle i have two nodes . I have one voting disk and one ocr disk . actually i lost voting disk and ocr disk . my rac oracle is down . i add new disk and try to create a new voting and ocr disk but itt not work when i try this command : ocrconfig -replace ocr ocrcfg it tell me : PROT-1 Failed to initialize ocrconfig (i see the OracleCRService is down) if you can help me please thanks
nobody have any idea please?
usn_work
did anybody ever try to get rid of eONS in Grid Infrastructure 11gR2?
I did. It's a doc bug, despite its in the docs: http://www.usn-it.de/index.php/2010/05/31/oracle-srvctl-does-not-remove-eons-prko-2013/

replay your backup of OCR + Voting disk
balek
usn_work : i have not backup :(
i try to receate the both disk if it's possible
but when i try to recreate ocr disk by "ocrconfig -replace ocr ocrcfg" it can't i see the service oraclecrservice is down
usn_work
yeah, no way doing that. Re-initialize your cluster, it's dead and gone
start from scratch
balek
usn_work : is it easy to do that ?
i don't know if oracle give a tool to do that
usn_work
one root.sh initializes the OCR / Voting disk. You will have to add all services and so on manually
nasty business
that's what backups are for
balek
usn_work : i search the same tool on windows oracle :) because i don't use linux :)
usn_work
never did RAC on Windows
balek
usn_work : yes i know and you prefer to install on linux :)
usn_work
Appearently you killed RACs before :)
balek
usn_work : :) very thanks for you help i search the same tool of root.sh on the windows thanks :)

or rpm -ql nameoftheinstantclient
aboudreault
hi
mator
ooh hi!
aboudreault
I'm currently using the oracle API in my program, and I'm getting a ora-28002 code during the OCILogon() call. I retreive the error with ocierrorget, but I don't understand why the OCIAttrGet call fails with a invalid_handle code.
I'm supposed to be able to use the connection because ora-28002 is only a warning.
stede
mator: : thanks... so i will take care of getting it to work ... i think i remember that i have tot install php-pear and then install oci8 extension and put a symlink to some libs .. not sure
steelnwool
hi. how can i see/alter connection timeout limits for a user?
aboudreault
steelnwool, I think it's related to the user profile
steelnwool
i believe you :)
i've not much clue how that works either :)
aboudreault
well... google ? "oracle How create profile"
steelnwool
yeah, doing hehe
klaas111
hi all
I have (what must be) a trivial question
but would be very happy with the answer
we're running an app on PHP, that is trying to connect to an Oracle Database
we've been provided with a servername, port, username and database name
the function oci_connect in PHP takes the following parameters:
resource oci_connect ( string $username , string $password [, string $connection_string [, string $character_set [, int $session_mode ]]] )

what unit is db_flashback_retention_target in ?
seconds?
ah, minutes apparently.
TheBonsai
http://www.google.com/#hl=en&safe=off&q=db_flashback_retention_target+site%3Aoracle.com&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=966056446daa3775
;)
steelnwool
i found it like 3 seconds after asking :)
and the default works for my needs.
deleting archived redo logs after they have been copied to an external backup target, is different than reclaim flashback recovery space automatically, isn't it?
RJarett
yes
steelnwool
okay thought so
RJarett
but oracle will overwrite expired logs if they are in your FRA
steelnwool
what deams them to be expired? a different retention setting?
or i guess time since last full backup?
RJarett
if your have a more recent full backup than the arch logs
steelnwool
gotcha.
so if you only did one full backup, and let it do incrementalk since then. its bad to have it automatic. :) makes sense.
RJarett
well you would run out of space
steelnwool
see, i've been doing alot of loading/unloading, so i have alot of unnecessary bloat in there. so i'll do a full backup soon and let them expire naturllly. versus jacking up my FRA size.
seem reasonable ?
RJarett
or turn off logging when you do a heavy load
steelnwool
indeed. hindsight that would have made sense :)
database appears to change by about 300 megs a day right now, my FRA is 40 gigs, so i'm safe for a week anyways. will clean out between now and then.
RJarett
yeah i change by 300+gb/night
steelnwool
:) how big is your FRA?
i run alot of tiny systems. tho cricital , represent a pretty small glob of data.
RJarett
about 1-2tb
steelnwool
nice.
RJarett
it can grow to 15tb logical since my fra is on a datadomain
AxonetBE
I'm stuck at a difficult query
I've to get all the presentations that match a user interests, this is the model http://axonet.be/sql.jpg
RJarett
did you mean to have a typo in a table name?
plus where are things like kerwords for presentations?
and where is "user interests"?
how are you supposed to know what they like?
zasz
i increased the size of a data file, but I noticed that maxbytes didn't change in dba_data_files
ie from 16GB to 18GB, bytes now shows 18GB, but maxbytes is still 16
in dba_free_space i see 2GB, but I am still getting ORA-1691 errors
interesting, dba_tablespace_usage_metrics shows that the tablespace is 100% full even though the data file has 2G free space
