anyone here???
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
where is the include path or Linux's Oracle ODBC?
anyone have a clue about this error? The library path ('/usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client/lib/cli') referenced by a library (IDS1) dependency of operator 'ODBCEnrich' does not refer to a valid directory (the original path as it appears in the restriction model is: '@STREAMS_ADAPTERS_ODBC_LIBPATH@/cli').

lucky quite there are also quite a few people in white coats
admin0
hi .. how do I move/export data from existing tablespace to a partitioned tablespace ?
sytse
um..
partitioned tablespace?
wasn't it the tables themselves you partition?
admin0
hi
i mean i have a unpartitioned table now ..if I create another table with partition and have multiple tablespaces there, will exp imp work ? how do I move from one to another

anyone have a hint what to do, to get the instant client running on centos? i installed the full base rpm already
i geuss i have to change the httpd conf in a way that its load the module?!
Dormir
the instance client and httpd are not directly related
instance = instant
stede
yep .. i meant instant! ... and still fail to get it working
Dormir
what are you trying to do?
stede
use the instant client with php
Dormir
you've looked on the web for a tutorial? I know there are some out there
stede
yea .. but i read some and they are different .. so i now search for those which have description what to do (what happens on the server, not only a command list)
i guess i have to install the basic-devel rmp to.... then use pecl install oci8 ?!
whatever that does
Dormir
http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/notes/technote_php_instant.html seems to be pretty straight forward
stede
yea .. but what is "Pecl" should i install this with yum? what is its function?
is it a security risk?
slows it down the sys?
tahts waht i'm just going to check
sytse
admin0: btw, see http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/06-sep/o56partition.html for a primer on partitioning, and use 'alter table tblname move' instead of 'create table tblname (.....)'
admin0: oh, data.. nvm
admin0
i have a bigtable with around 500mil rows .. want to partition it via range, one tablespace monthly
i created the tablespaces for the tables
now searching for the most efficient way to move that data
Dormir
admin0: online table redefinition
or create the new table with nologging, selecting from the old table
admin0
domir you mean create table with partition syntax with select * from oldtable ?
Dormir
yes, though the table redef is better
but you can do create table blah nologging partition stuff as select * from bleh

good afternoon

Is it faster to insert through two jdbc connections than one? So if i split my data into two will it be inserted faster?
usn_work
depends on where your bottleneck was/is
if its your dedicated server, then maybe
otherwise not
ygip
everything is run on one machine
Basically can oracle parallelize the inserts when done over one connection?
usn_work
"dedicated server" is a process
usually every session has one of them
and batched inserts are handled sequentially
try to play with the commit rate, if possible
ygip
it's at 10 now before sending a batch

usn_work
try to find out what the DB is waiting for (wait interface), via statspack or AWR reports
ygip
I can see that my app finishes selects 30% into running, inserts are done over the entire 100%
Maybe inserts are just that more expensive
usn_work
try to find out what the DB is waiting for (wait interface), via statspack or AWR reports
you will see what they do
ygip
ok

how to import timestamps from exported csv files? more precise: the timestamp ('23.04.10 13:45:02,0000000') needs the proper date-format, but how to define the fractals of second?!
FF / FF3 are not alloed here
ygip
to_date()
stede
yeah .. but it says date-format not recognized on this: 'DD.MM.RR HH24:MI:SS,FF9' but i don't know why
ygip
it's case sensitive
have you assured yourself you are using lower and uppercase where you should?
stede
!? thats why it's typed in capitals
ygip
oh maybe it isnt case sensitive
was looking at my java format
my to_date is in lower case
stede
it's like it reads the docs
ygip
dunno if it matters
okay, probably doesn√łt matter then
stede
i can imagine the , between seconds and fractals can be the mistake?
but that is the way sqldeveloper exports the data
and i think then it must be possible to reimport it with sqldeveloper
otherwise it was really stupid
usn_work
maybe as a last resort, try with sqlloader
stede
(Action) is googling "sqlloader"
if i compre to the docs ( http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/olap.111/b28126/dml_commands_1029.htm ) i can found any mistake on my format
it seems okay to me: to_date('03.05.10 10:20:00,000000000', 'DD.MM.RR HH24:MI:SS,F9')
it works if there ore no fractals defined ... but as i read the documentation i should be able to define fractals (and i actually need that) :X

does anyone have any experience connecting to an oracle instance with php/oci? I keep getting stupid TNS errors, even when using easy connect strings that shouldn't be hitting tnsnames for anything
stede
... i giv eup for today (onemore time ;) ) .. the oracle-hate-o-meter raises again :P ... cya

we need to implement a frustration filter here
Ramen
are both 10 express and 11R2 free? I thought only 10 express was suppose to be but seems like you can download 11r2 as well
any limits?
Xgc
Ramen: They're all available for certain types of use for free.
Ramen: Read carefully to determine if your use falls within those areas.
Ramen
o.o
guess it's in the license agreement?
or in the docs?
kk thanks Xgc

anyone else have oracle pull any douchebag moves w/ their sales guys lately?
got a quote for them, then last night the sales guy emailed saying.. i guarentee 100% oracle will never offer a discount like this again
so i emailed back with a big FU
my last purchase was 35% off when it was 40k$ list. now its 47500 list and only 40% discount?
which one is better for oracle.. ohh I wanted
screw you bi**hes
cofeineSunshine
:)
cute:)
i just program on oracle
RJarett
all started since they have been very unwilling to work with me or unbundle UPU from named users licenses in a CSI
and support on a migration is full list price which makes it more expensive than new licenses on a 4 year run
cofeineSunshine
thank god i dont have to to comunicate with any of sales guys
Caelum
what's the difference between VARCHAR and VARCHAR2?
