Viper-7
i'm getting a really wierd error.. Just upgraded from 10 to 11.2, and am now getting the following "ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column"
it seems to only occur on queries using CLOBs, with parameters bound as CLOBs (no, theres no LONG data types involved at all), only with a large amount of data, and.. and this is the wierd part
it only happens on UPDATE queries that have an IN clause
adding "WHERE 1 IN (SELECT 1 FROM DUAL)" is enough to break the query, which has been running happily for years :/
does anyone have any ideas ?
yegz
change to exists ?

Viper-7
that'd need alot of extra parameters bound, in a heck of alot of places heh

http://pastebin.com/zA5X3ZdB
RJarett

desc the table
are you sure the dates are date types?
knandan
RJarett: Thanks for reply..
yes they are date type..
http://pastebin.com/a64p7QVP
TheBonsai
to_date()?
knandan
TheBonsai: but why so?
i am providing date at 2 places..
but at the first place i dont see the error..
TheBonsai
did you try it or not?
knandan
with 'to_date()"??
RJarett
your client may not know how to implicitly convert, so you should to_date it
TheBonsai
yes
RJarett
or if the db nls format is different
knandan
ok..i will try it out with that
TheBonsai
date formats are a localized thing. it depends on your client's and session's language settings
knandan
BTW..i am using sqlplus..
RJarett
is this for powerdns?
TheBonsai
then sqlplus is your client.

knandan
well..some other guys in my group are using powerdns..i am working on some other product that uses zone table
RJarett, TheBonsai : thanks..
it worked
TheBonsai
cool

there's no INNER JOIN allowed in oracle sql?

I want to execute the following query: select val - avg(val) from testagg group by val, which -as i thought- gives my count(val) lines, for each giving me the difference from the average. However, the result ist 0 for each. How can I get the correct values
??
(x-posting in #sql)
Ramen
pretty sure Join defaults to inner join maybe
biduzido
Ramen: have you ever used clobs? ;x
Ramen
nope :(
biduzido
