Xgc: thanks. so id do something like (in trigger) CREATE TRIGGER ioftX INSTEAD OF INSERT ON vMyView FOR EACH ROW DECLARE x NUMBER; BEGIN; insert into y values (1, 2) returning rowid into x; insert into z values (3, 4); UPDATE ... ; etc..; END ioftX; ..
so what mechanism would i be able to go insert into vMyView values (5, 6) returning rowid into z; ?
to get x from the trig into z outside
hmm. i just saw something about :new.Result
maybe the insert for which i want the rowid can be stored into :NEW.RESULT ?
and that could be used by "returning rowid" from calling blocks?
Penggu: You could use your session id as a key to save these values in a separate table. Populate this table from the trigger and let the application use its session id to retrieve the values.
Not sure if the trigger will handle that, but it's worth a try.
yello ;)
Xgc: im using oracle forms - was hoping to just rely on normal forms' way of saving and presenting new records
Penggu: Hmmm... I'm not sure any of this is normal.
I have installed oracle on my Ubuntu 10.04 by using the following steps:
I added the following repository deb http://oss.oracle.com/debian unstable main non-free
wget http://oss.oracle.com/el4/RPM-GPG-KEY-oracle -O- | sudo apt-key add -
apt-get update
apt-get install oracle-xe
but now I go to Applications >> Oracle DataBase 10G >> GoTo DataBase Home Page
but my default home page appears
How can I solve this problem ?
Any one can help please ?
hey, I don't want to start my oracle 11g auto. with windows, any idea where to configure this?
platzhirsch: services.msc -> change the start mode of your oracle service from auto to manual.
