ok. i see what happened.
Kaoru_Nagisa
Hello
i have a problem to start netca
oracle@debian:~$ netca
****ORACLE_HOME environment variable not set!
ORACLE_HOME should be set to the main
directory that contains Oracle products.
Set and export ORACLE_HOME, then re-run.
zambaboo
Kaoru_Nagisa: so whats the problem?
Kaoru_Nagisa
it is solved
zambaboo
good :)
Kaoru_Nagisa
but i have perhaps a new one
with dbca at the end it can't create a directory
zambaboo
permission problem?
Kaoru_Nagisa
no dbca want to create it in /u01 etc..
But i want it on /data/oracle/data
now it works...
at the end when using dbca, when we click on "done" (i think it's done, i've dbca in french) dbca is closed autmaticaly or not ?

hi all

Kaoru_Nagisa
Hello
is it normal that /etc/oratab contain nothing after installing oracle (only oracle)
?
TheBonsai
Kaoru_Nagisa: did you create a database?
Kaoru_Nagisa
yes
and i've got a new error >.<
TheBonsai
if you created a database (=if you have some instance to manage on the system), /etc/oratab should contain an entry
Kaoru_Nagisa
yes yes bonsai, it was a problem of x11 forwarding for te creation of the db
TheBonsai
ah, dbca wants X, yea
Kaoru_Nagisa
but now when i try to connect on the host as sysdba i got : ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
but em is running and show no error
TheBonsai
ensure ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID is set
and you use the sqlplus from that $ORACLE_HOME (or at least a "compatible" one)
Kaoru_Nagisa
what is a compatible one ?
TheBonsai
just use the one fUom that $ORACLE_HOME
set ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID, set PATH (prepend $ORACLE_HOME/bin to it)
Kaoru_Nagisa
ok
ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID are good
TheBonsai
oh, and ensure that the directory name you set $ORACLE_HOME to doesn't contain a trailing /
Kaoru_Nagisa
it's good
TheBonsai
and exported?
Kaoru_Nagisa
yes
TheBonsai
hm
what's the operating system?
Kaoru_Nagisa
when i mdae : sqlplus / AS SYSDBA
i got : ERROR:
ORA-01031: privileges insuffisants
TheBonsai
ooooh
Kaoru_Nagisa
dedian 32 bits
?
TheBonsai
are you the oracle software owner or in the DBA group (you specified some groups on install)

Kaoru_Nagisa
....
not in dba >.<
sorry :(
and dba got SYSOPER and SYSDBA privileges
TheBonsai
the local connection is only allowed for the software owner and the specified groups, not for every local user
Kaoru_Nagisa
i know
TheBonsai
(not even sure about the software owner, i guess only the groups)
Kaoru_Nagisa
it works :)
thanks
TheBonsai
fine
Kaoru_Nagisa
now make the listener available, from local network and internet
TheBonsai
netca
Kaoru_Nagisa
Mmmm
i'ml on 192.168.0.1 on my computer, oracle is on 192.68.0.4
with netca i put 192.168.0.4 on hostname but it wont work
i don't understant
TheBonsai
netca is a ca for the listener
if you want the listener on the same machine where oracle runs, you should run it there
Kaoru_Nagisa
yes
but i want to reach the database from my computer on 192.168.0.1
what sould i do put in listener.ora ?
and reach the databse from internet ?
TheBonsai
the client just needs an oracle client
Kaoru_Nagisa
and a tnsname.ora
TheBonsai
depends on the client and on the TNS resolver method you use
Kaoru_Nagisa
sqlplus for windows :)
TheBonsai
"depends on the client" means instant client or a more complete client
there are some "variants" of the client
but since you have sqlplus there, it's complete enough i guess
Kaoru_Nagisa
yes
TheBonsai
setup a TNS name (sqlnet.ora/tnsnames.ora) and start with a tnsping
Kaoru_Nagisa
ok
TheBonsai
sqlnet.ora is (beside other things) the file that tells where the client looks for "names", tnsnames.ora is ONE method to resolve names
Kaoru_Nagisa
ok
TheBonsai
you can see it like nsswitch.conf --> /etc/hosts on a linux/sun
Kaoru_Nagisa
:)
TheBonsai
so sqlnet.ora should contain TNSNAMES, but i don't remember the parameter name, maybe it's in the example file
http://www.orafaq.com/wiki/Sqlnet.ora
Kaoru_Nagisa
thanks !

Hello is this the place to ask about APEX Oracle, We are having majour issues with forms/reports
gDv
Can anyone help me understand GROUP BY better? http://pastebin.com/mJG5qShh <- Why these 3 attributes?
Kaoru_Nagisa
it's to group first by o.sales_rep and AFTER groups theses same element by last_name etc...
gDv
And why is that still needed? the id will always be unique (even without the first_name and the last_name), no?
anakin_
hello...
I'm about to accept a job offer to work as a systems integrator using Oracle IdM
does anyone have experience with Oracle IdM? Is it easy to use and extend?
RanyAlbeg
Hello , i know that you can not create two primary keys, so what is the point of this : constraint k_name PRIMARY KEY(var1,var2) isnt that means that var1 and var2 are primary keys? thank you.
Kaoru_Nagisa
pigoz
that was too late Kaoru_Nagisa, he left without knowing the answer :(
Kaoru_Nagisa
and i only made a google search
pigoz
maybe he learned google in the meantime :p
Kaoru_Nagisa
:)
RanyAlbeg
Hello , can i create two primary keys? i heard that you cant but i see this : constraint k_name PRIMARY KEY(field1,field2) so is it possible?
DiscordianUK

RanyAlbeg
DiscordianUK: :) hehe but i didnt see an answer sorry
