hello
_cliff_
is it possible to use a join statement in a post-query select?
sorry a post-query trigger select
pumbac
hi, i'm new to oracle
i have an excel sheet like this : http://pastebin.org/114097
is there a way to design a table with the name of the sheet and the properties from the link ?
_cliff_
is it possible to use a join statement in a post-query select statement in forms builder?

hi guys, i need a advice on how to migrate from a 9i to 10g
if i try to export the data with the 10g exp i get errors
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 6550 encountered
PLS-00302: component 'SET_NO_OUTLINES' must be declared
shouldnt it be possible to use the 10g exp for the export?
dsdel
so you imagine oracle releases out a new version but changed nothing? :D
TheBonsai
exp with a 9i exp
teite
TheBonsai: ok figured that
but i have not enough disk space on the old machine ;)
Vanesco
Hi, this Oracle 8 query gives me a headache.. http://pastebin.com/4ZBSYF3g I'm getting the data i need more or less, but it omits records from t2 if there isn't a matching record in t1 (Due to the join i recon) but if i reverse the join, i'll have the opposite scenario.. any ideas?

teite
where do i get a 9i client for a current linux x64 machine?
TheBonsai
edelivery, i guess
or download.oracle.com
teite
hmm dont know about edelivery ;)
how do i find the older versions at download.oracle.com?
TheBonsai
good question
there is a chance, your 32bit stuff runs btw
teite
problem is, the old 9i runs on solaris ;)
well, i'll try to mount a nfs share
TheBonsai
that won't work
x86 -> x86_64: ok
("same" platform)
teite
what wont work? the solaris exp on the linux machine, or the export->import migration in general? ;)
TheBonsai
the solaris exp on the linux machine
the exp data format should be okay
teite
ok good, at least there is home

is it possible to use a join statement in a post-query select statement in 10g forms builder?
teite
...at least there is hope ;)

Anyone here knowledgeable about TOra, or is there perhaps a dedicated channel?
phimic
hi all
is the dataguard option included in the enterprise edition?
RJarett
no
you need to pay for it
phimic
RJarett: ok so i can buy it for the standard edition, too?
RJarett
well its more included w/ standard
rac with 2 single cpu systems is included in standard
phimic
RJarett: i have a running rac with two nodes running on a standard edition
i need the dataguard option for a second computer centre for desaster recovery
RJarett
even with advanced dataguard on ent you could potentially have to license another instance
theres no adv dataguard for your standard rac version
phimic
ok so if i want a dataguard option in our cluster i need to purchase an upgrade to enterprise AND the dataguard option separate?
hali
phimic: dataguard is inlcuded in EE, but you do need a RAC license ($10k per proc)
if you want active dataguard, then you need an addon option
it's usually easier to use storage replication for these thigns if you don't already have/need EE

RJarett
rethink your recovery method
is your DB a VM?
phimic
RJarett: is physical
hali: ok thank you than i think i have to find another solution
RJarett
how large a db?
phimic
RJarett: 3 GB
RJarett
thats tiny
whats your change rate?
hali
phimic: what storage? netapp is the obvious choice for this if you are lazy
phimic
hali: direct attached FC storage SUN-STK 2540
RJarett
how fast a net connection?
at just 3gb, i would simply dump a copy of my flash recovery area over the wire every few hours
no need to get dataguard involved in what a simple tar/ssh could do
phimic
RJarett: 10 Gbit connection
RJarett
dude... you could drop your fra every few minutes
phimic
RJarett: is it possible to dump the db with rman, transfer this backup to the second site and import this backup in a single instance
TheBonsai
check ora docs to generate a duplicate database with rman
RJarett
well if you are using flash recovery area and an image copy of your DB, and keep a copy of your arch logs in your FRA, all you would need to do is replicate the FRA
and in the case of an issue, you would simple start the instance on the other side
the moment you "import as a single instance" you MUST license that 3rd remote instance as a full
look up image copy backups for oracle
but hell your db is so tiny, recovery would take seconds
phimic
RJarett: ok thank you for those tips
sidh
Greetings genlemen
I have a CLOB column where i have 1/ '|' char followed by a CRLF and i want to remove the '|' char, and 2/ i have '|' char at the end of the record and i want to remove it
for 1/ i did update notes set notes=replace(notes,'|'||CHR(13)||CHR(10),CHR(13)||CHR(10));
and it worked
but for 2/ i don't know how to write 'last char'
any idea ?
RJarett
use regexp
sidh
you mean with $
'|'$
'|'||$
RJarett: is it PCRE ?
i mean regexp for Oracle are PCRE ?
teite
phimic: dataguard needs the enterprise licence
with standard you can create some crippled replication
sidh
RJarett: i'm trying with regexp_replace(notes,'\|$',''), i hope it'll be ok
YESSSSS
thank you RJarett
usn_work
hi
I need to export out of a 11g database in preparation to import into 9i
Papers say, "use 9i exp"
I installed 9i client on the 11g server, but exp just finishes without error, without log entry, without data in the dumpfile
RJarett
yeah youre fu*ked.
usn_work
nice to hear ;)
is there anything I can do to get the data from 11g to 9i?
RJarett
use 9i exp
and dont do full
since most of the data dictionary tables are not compatible
usn_work
I did use 9i exp
and I did not do "full", I specified schemas to use
but I did as system
does not work as the user as well
Any ideas?
http://www.dbasupport.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59283
ORACLE_HOME is correct
but maybe the patch level ....
RJarett
the problem is, the data dictionary is SO different in 11
are the instances on the same network?
its CTAS between the 2
usn_work
They are on the same network. Basically I am testing a fallback scenario for a migration
CTAS is an easy pain, recreating all other stuff like constraints and so on is not in a 150-table-schema
RJarett
well you shouldnt be trying to downgrade 2 versions to an unsupported 10 year old db
usn_work
did you read what I wrote above?
RJarett
no
usn_work
then skip it
RJarett
but dbms_metadata would recreate all ddl
usn_work
I'm good in theory by myself, thanks
did you read what I wrote above?
RJarett
nope cause really you can go fu*k yourself for all i care
this isnt theory
theory would say you would have a base ass clue about why it would be failing and wouldnt ask
usn_work
maybe the one who tried to answer just isn't smart enough to know his limits
especially language
we don't like that here
RJarett
Actually im well aware of how to get around this issue, but it would be too complex for someone that lacks basic understanding of oracle
yeah well, fu*k you.
usn_work
:)
cool, doid not hear that for a long time "it would be too complex for someone that lacks basic understanding of oracle"
rizzo
oops
hit that button twice I see
YO.
hali
yo yo
MadLemz
http://pastebin.com/WkNrkMuH when i try to call supercrypto.encryptor('foo') - i get 'supercrypto body has errors'. any ideas?
Errors Tab: Line 18 DBMS_CRYPTO must be declared.
RJarett
do you have permissions to it?
MadLemz
i should! "Execute privileges have been granted to SCHEMANAME on the DBMS_CRYPTO package in Dev/Test/Prod."
what's the easiest way to confirm that?
RJarett
SELECT dbms_crypto.randombytes(1) FROM dual;
SELECT dbms_crypto.randominteger FROM dual;
MadLemz
AB
and a big ass random integer :)
RJarett
well in your code work with it as sys.dbms_crypto.whatever
or make sure you have execute on dbms_crypto again
MadLemz
omg - i had to compile it >.<
thanks for the help! really appreciate it
(was banging my head on that one)
