I have a query like this SELECT t1.name, t2.location FROM table1 t1, table2 t2, table3 t4 WHERE t1.pk = t2.pk ...
My question is would table3 effect my query if I never assign it a join?

Hi. what is the equivalent of 'sysdate' with sub-second resolution?
I found it. it is "systimestamp".
what type of field should I use to store systimestamp values?
DiscordianUK
longint ?
pzn
DiscordianUK: mmm... I tried "timestamp" and it worked :-)

Those are freenode cloaks
In my case it shows that I am affiliated with the Fedora project

Hi..
I am using libsqlora in my application to fecth data from the oracle DB..
when the no. of rows was only upto 100000 rows from a single table all the rows used to be fetched pretty fats..less than 1 minute..
but when i am fetching data from 3 diff tables now..one is having 35K rows, 2nd 70K and 3rd 140K, its taking hell lot of time..
more than 15-20 minutes..
this is really intriguing, why it must take that much time..
any thoughts guys..?

i hav long column, and inserting data using PL/SQL procedure
the issue is though column long can store 2gb data, pl/sql has constraint of 32K
so i cannot insert data more den 32k, and in reality my data can b more
any solution experts please?
Dormir
there are articles on the web on how to handle that
knandan
Dormir: is that for me?
Dormir
no, red
I think you can control the size of the recordset returned
are you just pulling all of the data in, or just the data you need?
rednblue
i m pulling all data Dormir
i found one option as clob
but clob consumes lot of memory
:(
any other option available Dormir

phimic: how do you try to start the instance?
phimic
teite: srvctl start instance -d VPX -i VPX1
teite
phimic: hmm is the cluster service running properly? try crsctl check crs
otherwise you should look in the alert log
phimic
teite: all healthy
teite
hmm, asm running? ;)
TheBonsai
"all healthy" in the alert log??
then you have no problem.
you it isn't "all healthy"

TheBonsai: ./crsctl check crs
CSS appears healthy, CRS appears healthy, EVM appears healthy
asm is running
teite
phimic: there should be any hint in the alert log ;)
karad
phimic, what patch levels are you at?
phimic
karad: 10.2.0.4
karad
phimic how was it stopped?
phimic
karad: good question i did not stopped it manually the second node is running fine
karad
it just died?
have you tried srvctl stop instance -d VPX -i VPX1
then starting it?
this used to happen to me before i was patched to 10.2.0.4

hi, I just learned that from oracle 10g onwards, cursor FOR loops are optimized to work (nearly) as fast as BULK COLLECT.. is this always true, for any kind of cursor, or are there caveats I should know about?
Reign1
how do i get rid of the partitions? i mean i dont wanna lose data or what so ever, only get tables without partitions (now they are with it)
?
Pikshik
network chekc during install is not ok ,if there is no bootproto record :) in iface config fle
Dormir
Reign1: you could create one catchall partition, then merge everything to that one

hi i am trying to execute a sql script when starting sqlplus with "-S" option (not wanting any interaction with the sqlplus shell) ... but if my script contains any BEGIN and END block ... sqlplus just sits there not doing anything .... eventually i have to do Ctrl-D to get out of that freeze mode .... (CentOS 4.4, orcale 10g)
any ideas on how i can execute a sql script with BEGIN END block without actually interacting with sqlplus shell ??

onkara
Dormir: hmm let me try
Dormir: that helped ... i was able to execute the proceduce ... but I am still logged into sqlplus ... if my procedure contains EXIT; after the END; ... sqlplus complains ... any idea on what may be going wrong ?? obviously I am starting sqlplus with "-S" option
Dormir: never mind i figured out .... in need to put EXIT; after / following my procedure

hehe, oracle finished the sun deal and *tada* java.sun.com is unreachable.
lol, and sun.com redirects now to oracle. these guys are pretty fast ^^
marcosRz
It's done, #oracle has bought #sun. I wonder if we can believe about their promisses on #MySQL, Dev.Java, #J2EE, #Solaris and !linux
sorry

Project Kenai, however, will be discontinued for public use. Oracle will continue to use it internally and look for ways that our customers can take advantage of it.
