does anyone know why I cannot use both xdoxslt and xdofx in a BI publisher RTF template?
if I do I get an error: oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XPathException: Namespace prefix 'xdofx' used but not declared.
used functions are available on http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2008/09/date_functions.html
they work seperately, but not when I combine both xdoxslt and xdofx
Franek_Kimono
how are you genleman!

Hi, I'm loocking forward to upgrade a oracle db from 9. to 10. Is there a way to export the 9.* dump to an 10.* db in a different server/machine?

i'm not getting much of an answer on this in ##java .. I'm working with JDBC and an Oracle DB.. and I want to get the last insert id on an insert statement .. anyone have a recommendation on that?
TheBonsai
"insert id"?
rdg
the auto incrementing primary key
of the most recent insert
TheBonsai
there is no such thing, if you think of autoincrement like mysql
rdg
is there anything like that?
seems .. not optimal.. to insert a row and then run a select to try to figure out what it's unique key is
TheBonsai
usually this is done with a trigger and a sequence
rdg
i have a sequence
it's what's doing the incrementing
TheBonsai
or without trigger and you query the sequence from the app
or whatever
rdg
how do I query a sequence (I googled that as a possibility but didn't see anything useful)
puuck
select seq.CURRVAL from dual
rdg
ah, from dual. explains why I couldn't guess it
TheBonsai
mh, using currval might be bad
he can't insert and then get currval
he should get nextval, and use that in the insert and in his app
well, no idea how this is usually handled
rdg
that has flaws too tho
someone could insert before I insert
puuck
rdg: seq.NEXTVAL guarantees a unique value
rdg
oh
then that sounds like teh way to do it
puuck
it wouldn't guarantee order in the resulting rows, though...that is a common mistake
rdg
solved by a ORDER BY `id` DESC
although in this case it's so low traffic it'll "never" matter (or so I'm told)
puuck
that wouldn't be technically correct either if you were using RAC
rdg
whyf does oracle require me to log in to download the JavaDoc for a library
TheBonsai
ask oracle
