Anyone use Oracle with php?, have a question, posted it on Oracle forums, but those arent active really. Thought I'd come here. Tried the heck out of googling to no avail + the underground php/oracle manual
Dormir
"Ask your question, stick around if someone doesn't respond right away."
monk12
k
It involves some code so dont want to cut+paste... Link to the forum topic is fine i assume: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1006136
basically I want to call that stored function and obtain its return value, but php complains either too large or small. and the -1 doesnt seem to help. thought that told php the paremeter size being sent in/out is dynamic so not sure what to set those at so can call the function.
Dormir
can you return a value from a select statement?
monk12
Like a non-stored procedure/function? simple select?
Dormir
yeah, a simple select
also, does that code work from sqlplus?
if I remember correctly, it won't work in sqlplus
monk12
hmmm, why wouldnt it work?
syntax?
I can try simple select n' report back
Dormir
try a simple select, then try the begin...end part in sqlplus
dagnachew
hi all
is this normal on dbca startup? http://pastebin.ca/1729632 I am stuck at 89 %
Dormir
dagnachew: do you have all of the prereqs installed? I think you need db3 and rpm
dagnachew
ok
monk12
Dormir: yeh a simple select works like so: http://pastebin.ca/1729642 , getting results
Dormir
and the code you're using in sqlplus?
monk12
So now gonna try the BEGIN END part, should i substitute vars for the :v_service_cd, cause thats only php right? pl/sql would use ? for substitution?
like I'm not sure I should test it 'exactly'. true/false?
Dormir
you can define a variable and try it
I think, though, it will error. I think to assign the value to a variable, you have to use select func into variable from dual
but well, select func into var from table
dagnachew
Dormir, will db4.5 do ?
monk12
crap, got to run an errand. will be back in 1hr and will try the statement in SQLplus + let ya know how it went
Rudemeister
ok
dagnachew
Dormir, I found db4.5 for my distro you think it will be ok ? or I have to rename it db3 ?
Dormir
I don't know. there are prereqs laid out in the docs. did you check them?
Trengo
db3 isnt the same as db4
boingolov
speaking of bdb, are there any changes from 4.6.x to 4.7.x that might make for binary incompatibilities?
i.e., a dbm file created using db4.6 being read by db4.7
Guest41924
hey guyz have a problem with apps r12

r12issues

Hey if i ran a statement in TOAD, BEGIN :z := user1schema.pkg1.fn_add_blah(:x, :y); END; it pops up and asks me what to put for x, y, and z... Z should get the return value, but Im unsure how to check it via TOAD. any idea? (testing that script Dormir with TOAD since SQLPlus having trouble connecting)
Dormir
monk12, try using BEGIN select user1schema.pkg1.fn_add_blah(:x, :y) into :z from dual; END;
rizzo
anyone know if you can get the primary's scn from a standby?
