saludos
<ksanchez> ?
alguna ayuda
upss, i'm sorry

with oracle advanced security encryption, is it possible to have one listener requiring encryption and another not?
ksanchez
Good morning, I'm having the following problem. I have installed and configured my SLES 10 server within a Windows domain. everything works fine in Active Directory. Selection of multiple domains that I created under Windows and policy implementation shows on my SLES.
For example
User John
password *****
<local >
<dominiowin1>
<dominiowin2>
<dominio3etc>
Everything okay up there.
But when I give the server to the team of DBA's to perform an installation of the database under Oracle, then when they restart the computer to see that everything functions properly are surprised to learn that the graphical login, they do not show the selection of different domains only shows <local> and check my conf files and everything seems to be intact, in fact everything is working in the domain. but gdm does not show the selection of different do
mains like the example above. Someone please tell me what happens and how could solve this problem. ?????
It is some Oracle permissions are causing this problem.

ksanchez, the only thing I can tell you for sure is that this has absolutely nothing to do with oracle proper
ksanchez
sure, some people hs told me that is oracle permissions..
:s
boingolov
basically I'm just curious if there is a way to have multiple sqlnet.ora's on the same box for the same sid / database
I know you can do separate listeners easily enough
but I want different profiles for those listeners
alternatively, could I use oracle connection manager on a seperate host to do encryption?
looks like I can...

Can somebody help me figuring out which TCP ports are required by Grid Control when I click the button to Configure a database target?
I get a timeout error each time so is it my firewall or is there a problem on my agent
mator
cmug, http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/em.101/b12013/firewalls.htm ?
cmug
mator, yes I have read that doc and I thought I had the correct ports open

hi, I installed oracle-xe on debian following this instructions: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/install/xe-on-kubuntu.html. at the configuration i decided 6999 as port for the database home but if I try to access via browser I get a 404. how do I manually start it?
mator
how port number is related to database home?

mastro___
mator: the url: http://localhost:6999
mastro
mator: i could loose connection at any time and i had to reconnect
mator: the problem is that I installed it oracle-xe, configured it but now I can't access the web console, or whatever the name is, to administer it
mator
it is called enterprise manager (EM)
try 'emctl status dbconsole'
mastro
mator: this is oracle XE i dubt it has an ENTERPRISE console
doubt
configuring the only "error" is this: Configuring Database...grep: /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/config/log/*.log: No such file or directory
mator
it shoild be called APEX in XE
you have win32 or unix install ?
mastro
linux debian 32bit
dsdel
xe has a webinterface delivered with it and that's all
mator
or not apex... i don't have xe. i've installed standart version on my computer
mastro
dsdel: yes that one.. it doesn't work on my installation
dsdel: any info on how that webinterface is executed? can I launch it manually? or may be seeing the configuration file/startup-script of that?
Reign1
hi, how do i extend tablespace via sqlplus?
dsdel
mastro: afaik from windows - it is automatically started when starting the service
sadly I don't have currently an XE installation in access - but perhaps the port number is already in use at your machine, you could check for open ports from the pid of oracle
mastro: netstat -anp | less or netstat -anp | grep ora
Reign1: do you want to extend a datafile or add another datafile to the tablespace?
Reign1
add another
mastro
dsdel: the port 7070 is free
dsdel
Reign1: http://www.psoug.org/reference/tablespaces.html / http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/ora/concepts/datafiles.html
mastro: free or open? :)
Reign1
dsdel: thanks
mastro
dsdel: there are 3 service running: 286551 - /var/tmp/.oracle/s#13913.1, 286554 - /var/tmp/.oracle/s#13913.2, 286549 - /var/tmp/.oracle/sEXTPROC_FOR_XE
dsdel
mastro: ?
After you have installed Oracle 10g XE, it will allow you access the server through a Web interface. In another word, the Oracle server is listening HTTP requests on a specific port, 8080, by default.
mastro
dsdel: ?
dsdel
http://localhost:8080/ <- tried that port already?
mastro
dsdel: and i'm telling you that my problem is that it is NOT listening to any http request, nor at 8080 nor at the port i specified (7070)
dsdel
I would think about xe that it 'doesn't like configurations'
mastro
dsdel: and I would like to know how that listening is usually established to manually launch it or to be able to debug it
dsdel
it's an 'out of the box database'
nah the webservice should be provided by an apache process spawned/integrated into xe
there are not really much docs about the technical implementation for XE
mastro
dsdel: so I should find an "apache" command running or an "apache" inside the oracle-xe package
dsdel
oracle normally using apache for http services, but i'm not 100%tly sure cause of the low documentation
TheBonsai
dsdel: there are also packages that can privide webservices
Franek_Kimono
hm
how can i stop whole oracle?
eg i want to restart it via some init.d equal or smth, not by 'shutdown' in sqlplus
TheBonsai
write an init.d script that uses the dbstart/dbshut scripts and handles the listener
or just install oracle 11.2
(grid infrastructure handles all that, you just need to init.d the GI, and this script comes with the installer)
Franek_Kimono
i've 11g
how should i treat it? dbshut/dbstart only will work?
TheBonsai
11.2
Franek_Kimono
or should i play with listeners also?
TheBonsai
yes
Franek_Kimono
:<
if i'll only dbshut/dbstart, listeners will not work, am i right?
TheBonsai
for the instances: you can of course script sqlplus yourself, dbstart/dbshut does nothing more than reading /etc/oratab and using sqlplus
Franek_Kimono
erm
maybe i'll try to describe it other way
i need to umount one shm device, and to do this i need to shutdown oracle
and `shutdown` in sqlplus doesn't work
i can still see that oracle proccesses are using /dev/shm/*
hali
'shutdown immediate'
TheBonsai
it works, it just doesn't do what you think it does i guess
shutdown immediate, yea
dsdel
TheBonsai: ye but for xe?
Franek_Kimono
[root@kalafix ~]# lsof /dev/shm/ora_orcl_41549827_*|wc -l
1233
:/
TheBonsai
a 'shutdown' is a graceful shutdown, with waits for all sessions etc etc etc
dsdel
Franek_Kimono: shutdown will wait till every user is logged of and nothing from user* is executed
Franek_Kimono
i dont want to kill whole proccesslist, cause i think that i can't afford starting all of them
TheBonsai
dsdel: no idea. but it could be possible. it's what e.g. APEX uses when you configure it without apache
Franek_Kimono: who said to kill the whole processlist?!
Franek_Kimono: 'shutdown immediate' will bring the instance down. if that takes too long for your limited time, abort the instance and take the risk ;)
Franek_Kimono
TheBonsai: $(whole proccesslist == pid's handled by `oracle` user)
TheBonsai
yes, my question was
Franek_Kimono
it doesn't fit my requirements :/
TheBonsai
WHO SAID THAT
Franek_Kimono
ah
my head
:D
SQL> shutdown immediate
ORA-01507: database not mounted
ORACLE instance shut down.
:/
but
it worked?
:D
TheBonsai
'shutdown immediate' will bring it down in a controlled but forced way (stop user sessions, synchronize the cache, close database, unmount, shutdown instanme)
Franek_Kimono
it's kind of black magic for me
i've used only simple db's like mysql or postgres
teite
Franek_Kimono: there is a oracle nomount state
startup nomount
Franek_Kimono
geeez
didn't work
TheBonsai
what didn't work? move your SHM device?
teite
you can have nomount, mount and open ;)
Franek_Kimono
whoah
mator
can i have an icecream please!
can oracle do that? :)
Franek_Kimono
TheBonsai: i've unmounted it, and remounted
mator
(Action) hides
Franek_Kimono
uhm
TheBonsai
Franek_Kimono: but? you said "didn't work" :)
Franek_Kimono
still same
yep, but for a while it 'worked' fine, i had an possibility to umount it ;)
http://pastebin.com/m2de075bf
still same prob
TheBonsai
is this thing using ASM? maybe the ASM instance also accessed the mount
*click*
Franek_Kimono
only 'startup nomount' has no error like ORA-01102
ooo
what's ASM ?
TheBonsai
that means the database is already mounted, usually
i.e. there already is an oracle instance that mounted this database
mator
Franek_Kimono, automatic storage management, google for details
Franek_Kimono
yep, but's just brand new fresh installation
mator: i've googled it already
TheBonsai
what's your SID and operating system?
Franek_Kimono
is there any simple way to disable it?
my SID is 'orcl', OS is OEL (oracle enterprise linux)
TheBonsai
ok, then ''ps aux | grep pmon''
what does it spit out?
Franek_Kimono
[root@kalafix ~]# ps aux|grep pmon
oracle 1357 0.0 0.5 1453788 17756 ? Ss 15:32 0:00 ora_pmon_orcl
