krushia
i have all-in-one sidebar
xangua
Opera no longer has that feature? ;-)
David3k
opera is no longer opera since anything past v12.x
it's just chrome, now
krushia
yeah that would be why i'm di*king around with fireffox
is there another way to deal with 200 open tabs in firefox?
David3k
I've been using Fx partially since around Opera 11 as an alternative to certain sites, and after Opera made that announcement regarding switching to chromium, I've slowly migrated to it, went over completely from Opera v12.(60?) when the new Chrome-based Opera became an update
krushia, I do that regulary, what exactly is the problem?
krushia
i'll restate for you
is there a way to get a window/tab list panel like opera has? http://cdn.ghacks.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/opera-windows-panel.jpg
xangua
krushia: tab mix addon maybe?
David3k
tree view for tabs? had that for awhile
sec
krushia
i switched from tab mix plus to tab utilities to get tab stacking

David3k
krushia
nah, thats another form of tab stacking
i want a list of all open pages
David3k
even in other windows?
krushia
yes
David3k
man, sometimes we have to sacrifice some things
sorry
krushia
the problem is that tabs are useless when there are too many pages open... a list with one page per line is ideal in this situation
b0at
the tab groups page auto-sizes them to fit in the window. not exactly the same, but an ok overview
xangua
How about Firefox tab groups, I've never used it but the only bad thing people say about it is groups don't get saved
krushia
firefox tab groups are clunky imo
David3k
krushia, how about a search box for the tab sidebar?
would that help?
krushia
there isn't a tab sidebar to begin with
tahts the problem
David3k
this has it, restartless addon, give it a spin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tabs-tree/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tabs-tree/
krushia
oh okay
David3k
tryin it
I like the filter/search in that sidebar
krushia
thought you meant tree style tabs addon at first, heh
David3k
it is a tree-style addon
try opening a new tab from a page link
krushia
so... tabs tree is just what i want for a sidebar, but it also disables the tab bar :(
David3k
I don't have all the answers, I have an extremely painful stiff neck that is making even using hexchat difficult
I'ma go to bed
(I'm having to move my entire upper torso to move my arm)
:P
gnite
c0fe_machine
so is it possible to do that with firefox?
krushia
might have found a solution, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/all-tabs-helper
needs restart though, which is taking a while :p

captaindevnull
How do Firefox Hello work from a technical point of view? Any good links to share? Is it fully p2p with only a web server for setting up the connection (signaling)?
Or do more data go through Mozilla servers? Any logging?
krushia
an update, "all tabs helper" is clunky but does the minimum i need
so i'll stop here
any bored addon devs in here might want to pick up a copy of opera 12 and check out the "windows" sidebar panel
brosnan
captaindevnull: it depends. there are two connection types stun and turn. stun uses a third party to initiate the connection but not to sustain the connection. turn acts as a proxy for the connection and can know the duration and ips. i do believe in either case the connections are made over ssl so only the two people talking can decode the streams.
captaindevnull
brosnan: Thanks for your reply. Is there any way to force it to use stun?
hexagoxel
hi. i just noticed that switching "application/pdf" to "always ask" effectively makes the in-built pdf viewer unusable, because it keeps asking how to open pdf, never actually opening the "preview"
is this fixed on >38.0.5 ?
cxd13
why not set it to preview in firefox instead of ask?
hexagoxel
cxd13: irrelevant. the option is there; preview should still work.
(also i have a feeling that the built-in viewer leaks memory, but i have no proper measurements to back up that hypothesis yet)
b0at
pdf.js is on github, so you might find a bug report for memory leaks there
hexagoxel
b0at: thanks; worth a look.

Good Morning! The mobile view in Firefox (ctrl+shift+m) is awesome. But it should have an integrated user-agent-switcher, as many sites do not go into mobile mode without a mobile user agent.
nate
no_gravity: I think that's largely the point of the user agent switcher add-on :P
no_gravity
well, that would be two actions: 1) switch to the resolution 2) switch to the UA
i noticed chrome can do both at once. that makes more sense.
you just chose "iphone 6" and it sets UA and resolution at once.
auscompgeek
no_gravity: the main part of the responsive design view is to, well, test responsive designs
responsive design doesn't include user-agent sniffing :P
no_gravity
auscompgeek: it's not about my designs. they are responsive. but i like to look at the mobile versions of google, amazon etc and they use ua sniffing.

Hello. Any idea for the reason why Firefox For Andorid doesn't contains the Arabic translation? Is it because of RTL layout?
wiky
I set firefox to 'Show my windows and tabs from last time' when starts, but it still opens the home page when starts.
fedora 22 gnome 3.16.2
firefox 39
thresh
hello, is there a way to watch HQ youtube videos on firefox on mac withouth flash?
wiky
thresh, I can watch youtube HQ videos on firefox without flash in LINUX. Is not the same in MAC?
thresh
wiky: I guess it is not, because I'm only presented with an "error occurred, please try again later".
wiky: which is a bit of WTF since I do have a cisco binary blob with h264 decoder here, what else would it need..
wiky
OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc
is disabled on my firefox
thresh
I've tried disabling it, same..
b0at
the cisco plugin is used for webrtc only, currently, last i heard
thresh
OK. I've disabled webrtc, because it is used to leak private data.
(I know, unrelated)

Hi, I can't reach a self signed SSL site anymore, no way to accept the cert. Has anything changed here in FF?
I get "The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified."
Usually I got "..connection untrusted,..I understand the Risks"

boot13
Mo
I tried setting both security.ssl3.dhe_rsa_aes* to false, but does not help. Other browsers can get the site after accepting the cert.
boot13
I don't understand why Mozilla got rid of the ability to add exceptions. Without it, all you can do is switch to another browser. So long, Firefox.
evdw87
Mo, boot13: I can make exceptions just fine
tried on the linked website here: https://onlinessl.netlock.hu/en/test-center/self-signed-ssl-certificate.html
Mo: can you make a screenshot of what you are actually seeing when visiting a self-signed page?
I might get a better idea
boot13
I guess it depends on the type of key used for the self-signed cert.
evdw87
boot13: it should tell which key is responsable
boot13
If it's Diffie-Hellman, there's no way to add an exception.

auscompgeek
boot13: uhhhhhh that statement makes no sense
