b0at: yeah gtk3s been next offical set for years now
b0at
they're making nighties with it now, too, at least
fedora or something might even be releasing non-nightlies with it. in any case, it's getting there.
stallmen
When I press h in a site
it comes up with the ctrl f thing
how do I stop that
I fixed it
anddam
stallmen: and by all mean keep it a secret
stallmen
I googled it
acmehandle
I have a stupd question. how do I clear my cache on 39?
why is this so difficult to find nowadays
Sorry. 38
hi stallman, remember me?
how you doing?
I had you signed my ass cheek
b0at
acmehandle: options, advanced, network, "cached web content", [clear now] or history->clear recent history (ctrl+shift+del), select "everything" in the drop down and uncheck all of those options except for "cache"
k_j
what's the signalling protocol used by the "hello" functionality?
b0at
k_j: this seems to describe generally how it works and what it uses: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Loop/Architecture
not sure if it goes into detail what it does beyond the firefox account thing

samfreenode
Why does Firefox perform like sh*t once I have 200 tabs open?
It becomes so unresponsive, even though I have 16GB RAM, i5 4690K
GTX970
b0at
you could try the developer edition and see if multiple processes improves performance
also, if you have plugins that activate by default, turning those off might help
specing
samfreenode: obviously you need a faster CPU ;p
samfreenode
b0at: Installing Bartab helped a bit
b0at: When will Firefox be 64bit and support multi-cored processors? It's 2015 omg
b0at
multiprocess builds are available now, like i recommended
samfreenode
b0at: Will it be in Firefox 41?
b0at
the schedule shows they don't know when they'll turn in on for the stable branch
no
https://wiki.mozilla.org/E10s
i think there are extension compatibility issues, but i don't know. everything i use works fine in the developer edition.
nate
samfreenode: Firefox is 64-bit easily if you built it yourself as far as I'm aware
b0at
it's also available for at least windows on mozilla.org
samfreenode
How do I know if I'm running 32bit or 64bit?
b0at
about:buildconfig under "Build platform"
links are still 32-bit by default, afaik
to downloads, that is
satdav
b0at: not yet it's not out until 42 now for 64 bit
b0at
you have to dig to find the 64 bit
nate
b0at: I thought the 64-bit ones on the site are technically considered dev builds
b0at
looks like they have them for the betas, too
e.g. https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/latest-beta/win64/en-US/
samfreenode
b0at: Can't find "Build platform"
b0at
maybe it has "target"
or something else that looks like a platform designator
samfreenode
Where is 64bit windows download?
xangua
(Action) throws 64 firefoxes at samfreenode
b0at
the beta there ^ is one option. that's the closest to stable.

samfreenode
No official release?
b0at
it's official.
samfreenode
Stable release
b0at
nope
samfreenode
ffs
b0at
it isn't compatible with 32-bit plugins. that may be the main obstruction.
there's also waterfox, a third-party build
with minimal other tweaks, so it mostly works right
samfreenode
b0at: Oh that sucks, I like ublock and treetabstyle and bartab and lastpass
b0at
those extensions should all work.
samfreenode
Oh that's okay then
I think I have a Youtube non-autoplay addon too
Because fu*k autoplay
jair
hello there
I am having a small issue with the toolbar bookmark button (the one that looks like a star)
Foxhoundz
Can I disable Flash for Firefox?
Aw who am I kidding
I can just uninstall Flash :p
b0at
yes. addons -> plugins, switch to "never activate"
uninstalling it is usually done at the system level. a package or uninstaller.
auscompgeek
of course, you can always set it to "ask to activate"
avenita
so firefox is crashing (core dumped) on some HTML5 videos
should i reset my profile?
i dunno if i screw something on about:config
auscompgeek
avenita: reproduce it with a mozilla build, send a crash report, look at the crash report
avenita
aye. will do
the thing is i dont get the crash report dialog when firefox crashes.
auscompgeek
you forgot to do step 1
avenita
had to unistall firefox to use the mozilla build. alas the mozilla build aint crashing
probably is some misconfiguration.
auscompgeek
you can easily use mozilla builds fine with distro builds installed
just don't try to use them both at the same time, for obvious reasons
avenita
i mean when i tried to open the mozilla build, the one installed by my distro opens instead
i believe it has something to do with the env variable set to force firefox to use hardware acceleration
so i believe im gonna purge my profile and set a new one from scratch
XXCoder
why wipe everything?
just go to setting and do reset. you will keep bookmarks and some stuff like sync
avenita
i dont really have bookmarks. and i want to rule out any issue
b0at
you can always back it up or use a new profile, anyway.
we're spoiled for options!
XXCoder
indeed
auscompgeek
avenita: that happens if you already have firefox running
Phlow
There a known issue with firefox/flash in the latest release with no audio? (windows 10)
Koopz
yoh!
my autoconfig files won't get loaded anymore
or is it normal that you can't see general.config.filename in about:config?
hue... i just got my locked preferences back... unfortunately all my tabs are broken now...
lockPref("network.protocol-handler.external.file", true);
lockPref("network.protocol-handler.expose.file", false);
after locking those settings, some elemhide.css is opening in notepad
