I'm having an issue with my firefox browser. I've installed an addon, but it does not show up in the "about:customizing window"
it has a button, but that's not showing up
XXCoder
I finally figured why bookmarks sometimes scroll and don't stop
but too bad I'm not skilled enough to fix it myself. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129480
Condoulo
Why is it that Firefox refuses to remember my sync password? I have all the settings that would indicate it should work.
XXCoder
Condoulo: odd
I have set firefox not to remember any login info but it saves firefox account and one other
means it should have worked for you too
reardless of setting
Condoulo: well reardless of specific save login info setting that is
Condoulo
Yet anytime I restart Firefox it forgets and I have to sign in again. =/
XXCoder
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1063033
your saved password may be bad
*cache
Condoulo
XXCoder: clearing my saved passwords (in which my sync should be the only one) still doesn't seem to work. =/
XXCoder
if you know sync password, clear that out too
make sure there is no saved passwords at all
Condoulo
I did that, tried signing back in again, and no go. Next restart it forgot it.
XXCoder
Condoulo
XXCoder: that doesn't seem to be it.
XXCoder
hm
try enable save oassword again
in my it dont seem to need that enabled to remember
did you check setting files see if read only or corrupted
Condoulo
XXCoder: I have the saved passwords remember I just only have it save the Sync password.
XXCoder
odd
not sure whats going on there
Condoulo
XXCoder: Seems to have started working again. I did clear a few of the account related files
(Although I had to reconfigure one of my extensions)
XXCoder
could have cleared out corruption there
Condoulo
XXCoder: Thanks for trying to help figure it out. :)

[linux][FF40.0.2] Are the default search engines baked into the FF binary or am I able to edit them?

Peng
They used to just be files in the 'searchplugins' directory but now they're probably baked into one of the zip files

hi channel :) i've been using and loving firefox for 2 years now. however, this last couple of weeks.. I keep getting this error when I try to get to my internet banking: Object has moved Here. (Here being a link)
it now seems to be permanent.
cbreak
did you consider that your e-banking has moved?
aZz7eCh
o0
obviously, but i guess i'll actually say it, there is no issue like this in ANY other browser.
googling finds many people with the same issue - and just as many who can not resolve this and have to use chrome / ie instead.
i on the other hand would like to work out what the problem is so i can continue using firefox
i have disabled any addons i have (being only adblock and ghostery
restarted pc
cleared cache etc..
cbreak
there are addons that allow you to change your browser identification
maybe your bank does something stupid.
aZz7eCh
if i walk over to any other machine here, start firefox, i can log into my banking just fine.
so i'm not sure installing an addon to trick my bank into thinking i'm using chrome, is the issue here
b0at
so what does "Here" link to? is it legitimate? does it work when you click it?
also, have you tried safe mode or a new profile? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-safe-mode
aZz7eCh
it links to another page in my banks domain, and when clicking it, i am still staring at the same page content ... "Object moved to _here_"
if i change profile, what happens to all my bookmarks, passwords, etc.. etc..
((retrying safe mode now))
b0at
you can import those things, or try using firefox sync. if the problem is some obscure preference, like modifying referrer behavior, sync may skip the one that's causing the problem. anyway, easier than importing everything separately.
aZz7eCh
result: well gosh darn it, it just logged in to my banking without a hickup, in safe mode
b0at
probably an extension, then
you can disable them individually or in batches to see which one causes this behavior
aZz7eCh
but all ext's were disabled
all
b0at
hm
aZz7eCh
and good lord - have i just lost all my bookmarks permanently by trying safemode?
b0at
safe mode is temporary and doesn't touch bookmarks when it's active
aZz7eCh
3rd restart they're back *phew
b0at
before doing anything else, i recommend going to about:support, find the button to open the profile directory, and back up that whole directory.
aZz7eCh
kk
b0at
the safe mode page i linked to also links to how to "refresh" firefox, which preserves some data like bookmarks. that's another option instead of testing individual prefs or using sync as a selective backup.
aZz7eCh
okay i'll try that first up
thanks

I've got a report on IE11 Win 7 and FF Win 7. But I can't replicate that on my VM. I even tried BrowserStack. The FF issue is related with the mouse `wheel` event, that is not triggered at all - I wonder what can I do here ? I'm using a polyfill for cross browser support so I don't really get what's going on at least on this case. I can't replicate it, so I'm not sure of any ways to find a solution for this any suggestions or ideas t
this is only happening on the client machine. I did ask him if he's mouse has a wheel etc
boizinho
hi there, does anyone knows if it is possible to have permanent notifications on firefox? there's a web application that i'm using that displays notifications on the desktop, when i use trough firefox the notifications dismiss after a short period of time, but when i use it trough google chrome it notifications are permanent and remains on the desktop until i manually dismiss them. do anyone knows if it's possible to change this behavior on firefox
so that it can display permanent notifications?
Cork
boizinho: no, firefox has a built in max show time
boizinho
Ohh thanks Cork.
hanzzon
Hi, is CVE-2015-4495 (Same origin violation and local file stealing via PDF reader) fixed in Firefox Developer 42.0a2?
Cork
hanzzon: it landed 11 days ago, so latest aurora should definitely have the fix
krushia
is there some way to make firefox automatically resume interrupted downloads?
kbrosnan
krushia: it should though it depends on several things. first the server needs to accept file range requests. some servers have an idea of tokens which they assign to users, if you don't have a vaild token you can't download the file
