Hi, why do I get a "The site specified an invalid Strict-Transport-Security header."
My header is: max-age=3600; includeSubDomains
oh ok self-signed&
justinX
anyone happens to know how to make firefox puts its stuff in ~/.config/firefox/ instead of ~/.mozilla/firefox/abcdefgh.default/ ?
Mombie
idea: make ctrl+f results flash or something, it's sometime hard to catch the hightlight with the eye lol
and all results shows up instantly, no need to spam next
oh this is freenode lol
but like they would listen to me anyways :(
justinX
Mombie: yes some setting to make search finds easier to see in a horrible css'ed webpaged could be usefull perhaps... but flashing? :/
Mombie: and have the "Mark All" button default pressed then
About the ~/.config/firefox/ I want to get rid of the randomized id part. and get rid of the .mozilla/ folder in my home
ash_m
does anyone use awesome screenshot? has it taken over your ctrl+shift+v? Anyone know how to get that back? I tried googling it, but I am just getting hits for awesome screenshot
justinX
ash_m: what is "awesome screenshot" ? an firefox extension?

ash_m
justinX: yeah
justinX
ash_m: you mean https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/awesome-screenshot-capture-/ ?
ash_m
justinX: that's the one
justinX
I would uninstall that if I were you.... "Discover Similar Sites" and "Price Comparison While You Shop" sounds very much like advertising adware crap to me.
Neffi
Nice that it integrated adware for you
Some developers are so kind
justinX
maybe it was a good extension that was bought by someone else to push advertising. it sadly happens too often.
Neffi
I would look at other screenshot addons, personally. Ones that don't integrate adware. I don't see why this one is worth trying to fix.
ash_m
justinX: still seems to be pretty good, except for the shortcut key reassignment, but that's my personal opinon
opinion*
erm
b0at
maybe the shortcut reassignment is another symptom of the developers' method of shoving their software into your workflow
ash_m
b0at: quite possible
b0at
now, keyconfig might be able to fix the shortcut key
it's at mozilla.dorando.at
but if it tries that hard to override things, maybe not
ash_m
b0at: I'll check it out
my last shortcut key configurer is falling short anyway
justinX
ash_m: as firefox extension in reality are mostly some javascript things I guess you could download the .xpi file, extract it and then change how it works.
ash_m
is it a forgone conclusion that Awesome Screenshot has adware?
justinX
finding exact same kind of screenshooting extension in the list of 320 other Screenshot extensions can be hard ofcourse
b0at
dunno
i don't see anything about it in the reviews, but the reviews do seem to have a couple of hacky solutions to the shortcut key situation
justinX
what is wrong with firefox... I can't imagine there is a need for 320(!) different screenshooting extensions....
b0at
a "save page to image" _would_ be nice, but i doubt it would get added unless it was especially handy on android
justinX
ah yeah I forget, mozilla is all about cellphones these days.
b0at
oh, there are a couple of reviews on the third page from february about adware
but they're blockable, so if it's not doing anything more than replacing ads... adblock/ublock would be enough
(not that i'd trust it myself, mind you)

ash_m
b0at: I see... I forgot I have adblock on; which I guess is why I never realized there's adware in there...
b0at: apparently the save-as problem was solved
b0at: the only reason to do it was because an update to FF broke their default save button that pops up after you're done annotating
b0at: but the save-as wasn't as good a feature because it doesn't automatically suggest a filename
b0at: it just says image or something... I don't remember, and I got rid of it
b0at
hm, so an update fixed it?
ash_m
I just need to use ctrl+shift+v too often
b0at: yeah
b0at
ok, sool
*cool
ash_m
b0at: apparently, people use ctrl+shift+e a lot too, but I never do
b0at: I tried that ui file hack
b0at: but there was an error installing the plugin
b0at
yeah, the signed extensions thing might throw a wrench into that. it's new
i don't think signed ones are enforced yet though, because i haven't heard of the alternate build that allows non-signed extensions yet
ash_m
I'll try 1 more time
b0at
there might still be an extension to load another extension by bypassing certain checks that could get it to work
justinX
ash_m: btw, what screenshooting things is your need btw?
ash_m
basically, capturing the whole page... I really don't care (that much) about annotating, but some times I use that for tutorial purposes
b0at: so...
b0at: I just tried again
b0at: and the plug-in works
justinX
if it is just make picture of a webpage then there are 300 other extensions that do the same thing without any advertising company in bed with Superfish involved.
ash_m
b0at: but the mod to the ui file didn't succeed
b0at: still get the error message too
justinX: wow, superfish; really.... k. There goes all my respect.
b0at
there's a channel on irc.mozilla.org called #extdev for extension development that might help with modifying it
also #firefox there where developers hang out
ash_m
b0at: eh, I'm over it since justinX mentioned superfish
b0at
heh ok
ash_m
anyway; thanks everyone for your help!!
time for me to eat
moobase
do you use themes? why/why not?
justinX
themes? you mean some skinning of the web browser gui?
moobase
yeah
any reason not to do that?
b0at
complete themes or the background skin that used to be called "persona"
because there've only ever been a handful of decent complete themes, but they are really good: the dark nasa one, for instance

Why was opening another tab in FIrefox causing my router firewall to block the port? I turned off the router firewall and have no problems.
justinX
moobase: well, I prefere to have all my application use same gui look&feel, so a specific firefox theme would be the exact opposite what I want.
if I want another look on things, I would change to another gtk contol theme (but have to find same thing as gtk3 theme also so applications that use that works though)
moobase
The most popular/top rated themes (manga female characters, bikini girls, mediocre Christmas themes, ) suggests that mostly kids, middle aged women and emotionally underdeveloped males (or just females which "typically" would pick My Little Pony themes) are using themes. That makes me question my ambivalent desire to get a theme.
justinX
Pazooza: that sounds strange... you should investigate that further...
kbrosnan
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/complete-themes/
is different
moobase
I tried a theme and it was awful :(. Couldn't see the tabs or anything.
how's that RUST mozilla project going?
Pazooza
It was a repeatable problem but seemed most prevelent on msn.com
justinX
suddenly I wonder if there are any control themes in gnome-look that combine that to a xmas-mylittlepony-manga theme :-)
b0at
servo, the rust rendering engine, is in its infancy.
moobase
is it only the rendering engine that's being written in rust? why? Why not the whole browser in rust?
I thought they picked RUST for security?
Pazooza
I had to keep resetting the router, justinX, then read about the firewall could cause that. Turning it off fixed it.
