is it possible to delete EME from firefox?
another question: I have health report disabled but firefox is creating a folder called "datareporting"
which has a file "aborted-session-ping"
b0at
i think eme depends on the adobe blob, so disabling it should be enough. about:plugins should show the path if you want to try to delete it, but updates will probably restore it.
maybe setting permissions on the file or some dir could prevent it from being re-created.
the same trick could be used to prevent committing the health report data to disk, assuming it doesn't pop up with an error instead.
(i haven't looked into prefs to disable that)
share
b0at: there's datareporting.healthreport.service.enabled , datareporting.healthreport.uploadEnabled , datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionEnabled and datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionEnabled.v2
the first one should disable it entirely..
there's also datareporting.healthreport.pendingDeleteRemoteData
furthermore, toolkit.telemetry.archive.enabled was also creating a folder..
b0at
if you haven't yet, it might be worth seeing how the Tor Browser sets these prefs
assuming they don't just remove whole sections of code

ok
b0at: they are all set to false. toolkit.telemetry.archive.enabled doesn't exist
(different firefox version)
there's also toolkit.telemetry.unified

Hi
EdePopede
hi. is there a manual for the new searchbox?
share
no idea

EdePopede
i don't think that it is possible to let the server help with the search when using the url bar?
Thanks for making us better! <-- srsly? isn't this the developer's job?
CPngN
to provide user feedback? no
but putting reality there wouldn't be very friendly... "Thanks for bi**hing and moaning and doing nothing to provide feedback or bug reports, you whiney leaches!"
EdePopede
user feedback doesn't make a product better, it is no more than a hint what possibly could be done
guess how often i've seen WONTFIX and similar, and i'm not a regular reporter...
CPngN
your use case does not dictate the rest of th epopulation
I'm not sure what you're expecting.. perhaps "We've attempted to make things better. You're welcome! {middle finger emoji here}"
axc1298
how can you say feedback isn't helpful?
EdePopede
so what about the rest of the population? https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/86/Usage_share_of_web_browsers_%28Source_StatCounter%29.svg
it may be. not more.
axc1298
a lot of people visit google on a daily basis and they push chrome right on google.com so it doesn't seem unusual to me that it would have a lot of users
especially when most people run computers filled with bloat and they see a message like "browse the web faster" or something. of course they'll click and install
CPngN
suckers R us
EdePopede
will they?
was looking for some stats with more techy users (heise.de had one some years ago, with firefox being the clear #1), don't see anything actual yet
is there an explatation on a blog or similar, WHY the search was changed? i mean, "don't change things unless they're broken or you're making them better"

Hi there, I have a small/huge issue with firefox, most likelly following a malware infection that should be resolved, firefox refuse to start, something about the configuration that can,t be read, I uninstalled it, deleted all mozilla stuff in program files, the x86, programdata, %localappdata%\mozilla and %appdata%\mozilla, also hklm\software\mozilla and the hkcu one. Reinstalled ans same...
...issue... anyone have an idea for the next step?
