Caspy7: I'm not faking the user-agent
Resilience
b0at, image/pdf;charset=ISO-8859-1"
b0at
hm, the normal one is application/pdf. not sure whether image/pdf is supposed to render in-place.
anddam
odd thing is that just happens with the search on the website
lin: how do you check that curl error'
?
Caspy7
anddam: that URL gives fails in all browsers for me
Resilience
b0at, it makes the browser to download it, but it means I cannot bookmark it... some idea?
b0at
yeah, it seems image/pdf is the problem. even without "content-disposition: attachment" it triggers a download
you could start downloading it and use the entry in the download manager to get the address to bookmark, then cancel download if needed
or complain to the site
Resilience
b0at, cannot I make some kind of entry in the myme-rtypes for image/pdf?
share
guys

b0at
i don't know if that's possible. i don't think so. there isn't a lot that you can configure with mimetypes outside of what it prompts you to do and what the "Applications" part of the preferences can do.
share
if I disable pdjs, pdf files are automatically downloaded to disk
because preferences are set to download to a folder without asking
b0at
share: you should be able to reset that from "Applications" in options
share
yeah ..
b0at: "always ask"
but there's one showing "Preview in Firefox"#

b0at, cannot I defien some kind of mimetype image/pdf?
tomkralidis
hi, where does one go for Thunderbird ?
share
#thunderbird is almost empty
tomkralidis
can't tell if it's really mozilla thunderbird or not
kbrosnan
this is firefox
#thunderbird is on irc.mozilla.org
or https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new
gsilva
Hello. Anyone around to help a possible new contributor?
kbrosnan
gsilva: you would have better luck at #introduction on irc.mozilla.org
gsilva
Any channel on Freenode that I could drop by?
kbrosnan
not really
gsilva
Hum, I see. Thanks though :)
kbrosnan, after sending an email using the form on the /contribute page, how long should I wait for an email telling me where I fit? Can you tell me?
kbrosnan
what are you looking for? coding?
gsilva
No, marketing
Unless there's nothing I can do to help
If that's the case then I guess I can't do much :)
kbrosnan
i don't know. maybe mozilla reps?
https://reps.mozilla.org/
gsilva
I don't have a large contact database. I'd be interested in developing my skills in data mining and analysis, for any project in particular, or for Mozilla overall
kbrosnan
gsilva
Not sure if Mozilla has a team dedicated to that or not

kbrosnan
gsilva
Hum, thanks for these two links
SpeakerToMeat
Hello
Question, is there any configuration option I can turn on to disable the warning when javascript is about to close a tab/window?
kbrosnan
dom.disable_beforeunload
SpeakerToMeat
Thanks
It's faster than trying to code a monkey script to fix this broken page... which I will someday
kbrosnan: I love you, thanks

Auctus
how do i make firefox prompt me before closing multiple tabs? I turned it off, cant find out how to turn it back on
oh hmm its on but it doesnt work if i ctrl+q it just quits
Caspy7
:-/
weird
b0at
ctrl+q on linux may bypass it. there's an extension to disable that.
it may just be a gtk2 thing.
Auctus
b0at: i installed the plugin, im on ubuntu 15.10; at least i can restore my session, yesterday i had a bunch of work open in a private window and accidentally CTRL+Q'd trying to close one tab :p
Resilience
b0at, are you still there?
b0at
yes
bray90820
Does firefox require %20 in there web addresses
Cork
bray90820: no
firefox translates space to %20
bray90820
Cork: Thanks
anddam
Cork: and that's horrendous btw
Cork
kinda agree
bray90820
Why?
Cork
cause it means what you type in isn't what you get
bray90820: btw if your creating a webpage you should still use %20
anddam
also it makes links look like they're out of a Windows' domain
bray90820
Cork: I am just entering them
Cork
anddam: well you shouldn't have spaces in the url anyway :)
Peng
can't*
Cork
bray90820: ya, just wanted to make sure
bray90820
Alright
Cork
Peng: well you can have space in them
you just shouldn't
Peng
No you can't.
anddam
Cork: I think those should be forbidden, if not supposed to go there. If they are supported people are right to use them
Cork
Peng: yes you can, the url gets encoded to %20
and %20 gets expanded to space server side
Peng
Sure.
Cork
anddam: best practice and not allowed is quite a bit apart
i'm not sure i agree about forbidding it
btw http://www.immortal.org/20383/spaghetti-strainer-helmet-drivers-license-photo-approved-religious-grounds/
anddam
Cork:the strainer photo is just about human idiocy
and by that I mean the idiocy of Massachussets RMV, not the girl
she is entitled to force stupid rules, and in some context she is morally bound to
but to a more serious subject, can anyone figure the difference in encoding at http://undeadly.org/cgi and http://undeadly.org/cgi?action=search&mode=&thres=&query=foo ?
the response header looks exactly the same to me, but the latter isn't well parsed by FF (or any other browser)
disabling compression in the request makes the page be rendered
Cork
anddam: not sure but it MIGHT be that you use transfer-Encoding: chunked
without a Length
heh it is the first time i've seen that warning, but a google turns up a ton of hits...
anddam: little sidenote i would recommend moving the style tag into the header section
not the cause of the problem but anyway
anddam: had to read up a bit on chuncked transfers
anddam: are you setting the chunk length correctly on each chunk?
chunked transfers isn't supported without it
