I read that Firefox is dropping support for all plugins but Flash in the future. This is alright, but I'm worried if they'll block some of the unofficial Flash plugins I'm using on Linux.
To get updated Flash on Linux, I use a Pepper wrapper via the FreshPlayer plugin, and a Pipelight Flash plugin.
Will these be blocked, since they're not the exact same as normal flash?
b0at
good question. i read once they were "working with adobe", so maybe they'll bring updated flash to firefox themselves. but that's total speculation.
MikeRL
I hope Linux isn't screwed over.
evdw87
b0at: but what about linux in particular?
MikeRL
Adobe shafted Linux flash support.
evdw87
MikeRL: maybe you should post on the blog or contact firefox dev channels
MikeRL
So I'm currently using Pepper flash and Pipelight flash.
Where are the dev channels?
If I get an answer, I will return here with it.
evdw87
irc.mozilla.org if I recall correctly
not sure which channel to choose, but I'm sure they can guide you

eversince i upgraded to 40.x new tab stop opening google page
how do i fix this

b0at
yeah, they broke it. you can't change the new tab page, but an extension puts it back.
jookiyaya
why would they break it
b0at
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/
i don't know
well, one of the reasons they said was to prevent malware from changing it
but we have to consider that there are ads there now
fred1807
on Osx, all the data is located inside /user/library/application support/firefox/profile? Is anything (cache, history, ) located inside other folder?
evdw87
fred1807: everything should be in that folder and subfolders
fred1807
ok
evdw87
fred1807: to be sure what your profile folder is, you can always look it up in about:support
fred1807
nice

is there a firefox addon where I can make a browser tab disconnect from the internet, and freeze all javascript executed in that tab after the page loads? With a button to unfreeze it. Basically I want to save bandwidth (and it will save CPU too) but still be able to browse any site.
DeathKnight

Peng
(Ignore my @, i don't know anything more about cloaks than you do.)
DeathKnight
but that etherpad links to old etherpad. probably because of migrating to new etherpad recently.
Cork
ah nice
Peng: thx

DeathKnight

guys, how can I start a search if I middle click on a page and there is few word in the paste buffer ?

Odd question. Id like to change the title bar to a static string or at least the static part (Mozilla Firefox) to something else. The reason is I have to keep an ancient old an busted version around for some junk applications we have and I want to put in big bold text in the title "BAD FIREFOX" or similar. Already changed the theme to something different but I want more. ie: so the trays show it too.
I see this browser.urlbar.match.title set to # not sure if its relevant.
b0at
you need an extension for that like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/customize_titlebar_v2/
deftjack
Thanks Ill take a look. Was hoping I could do it in the likes of about:config so Im no reliant on stuff that will likely become incompatible later on.
b0at
yeah
deftjack
The real solution is can these junk web apps. LOL If only...
b0at
it may be possible to do something hacky with a little css you could put into userChrome.css
userstyles.org can give an idea what's possible there
deftjack
I will look into that as well. Thanks b0at!
