RNeville: you need to make a gnupg key on your system, and check that your gpg version is at least 2.0 ($gpg --version). Look up how to make a gpg key

History problem: I know there is a way to clear history *younger* than x days (with the Forget button), but is there a way to automatically clear history *older* than x days?
Because if I haven't visited a site in six months, it would be nice if it were automatically cleared from my history (unless I favorited it or something).
b0at
there's a pref to set max days of history to save, i think. or at least when to mark it safe to delete.
hm, i thought there was
well, it was browser.history_expire_sites and it might have been removed
or _days
ah yeah, here's where it was removed: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=417484&action=diff
i think it was part of a cleanup to make async places expiration work for multiprocess firefox
XndrK: this may work: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/expire-history-by-days/?src=search
one review says it doesn't, but others say it does
XndrK
Perfect! Firefox Portable is probably a little glitchy from the porting.
If I had to guess.
b0at
naw, it just wraps a proper firefox build
XndrK
oh.
weird.
well, thanks for the help.
b0at
sometimes it gets confused if you run more than once instance or update while the firefoxportable.exe launcher is still running, but fiddling with the settings in FirefoxPortable.ini or restarting should fix that.
XndrK
I don't particularly care. I don't run Portable; it's just that the 1-star review was running from that.
Not that it isn't neat
Bye

How do I make firefox on windows tablets suck less?
It doesn't automatically bring up the screen keyboard in tablet mode
And australis is inconvenient as hell on touch + it covers the minimize / close buttons for some reason
Cork
TheFran: a better option might be to try the fennec x86 built
TheFran
Cork: what's that
Cork
i'm trying to find the link right now but fail...
fennec is the product name of "firefox for mobile"
and i was sure there was a version for tablets...
TheFran
Cork: it's android, no?
Cork
no, though the none android version might have been dropped
TheFran
Wiki says mobile firefox is android only
Windows RT didn't let you set s different default browser anyway IIRC
Cork
ya, you can't even use firefox there
it is only on x86 tablets that you can still use firefox
(x86 windows tablets that is)
TheFran
Right
I wonder if you can use it on windows 10 lumias
Cork
i know there has been work ongoing for a metro interface for windows
not sure what state it is in though (i seriously don't care about windows)
TheFran
Windows tablets are the best bar none
Cork
heh, sure...
TheFran
The touch interfaces for third party are lacking though
Cork
ah, the firefox metro interface was eol in november 2014
TheFran
Android tablets are toys, and let's not talk about ipads
Cork
from own experience touch works really badly in windows
so ya, i woudln't want windows on a tablet
TheFran
Windows tablets are laptops with touch
Cork
well detachable keyboard, but ya
touch still works much much worse in windows then any other os
(gnome, kde, unity, ios, android, sailfish os, web os...)

Hey. I compiled firefox by hand but it seems, that webgl is not aviable, even after forcing it being on in about:config. I am using the proprietary nvidia driver version 352.41 and mesa 10.6.9. Do I have to set a specific compiler option or is it some other error?
My system is Linux metis 3.12.24 #3 SMP Sun Oct 11 21:29:14 UTC 2015 x86_64 GNU/Linux
TheFran
Cork: arguable to put it mildly

mar77i
hello #firefox, I have a question about configuration. ff keeps completing my localhost:8080 url to http://www.localhost.com:8080/
evdw87
mar77i: what if you set browser.urlbar.autocomplete.enabled to false?
Type-21
i installed a bunch of new fonts in windows 10 and now some websites are in bold text :(
even a new firefox profile doesn't help
evdw87
Type-21: did you override any fonts?
Type-21
no, only added new ones
for example stackoverflow looks like this now http://puu.sh/kIEHp/c0c2c5389e.png
mar77i
evdw87: oh, sorry, I got distracted did exactly that and moved on without informing irc.
I o u
evdw87
mar77i: so did it work?
mar77i
indeed.
Type-21
oh it might be because stackoverflow tries to use helvetica but i didn't have that installed so it always used arial as fallback
but now i installed helvetica neue black condensed oblique and it might use that instead of arial?
disregarding that it's black?
evdw87
yes, it has nothing to do with color
ctrl+shift+i might give you more info
Type-21
black is a font style, not a color ._.
evdw87
inspect the ellment
*element
Type-21
yeah it does use helvetica black where it should be using arial
so i pretty much have to uninstall that font? or is it possible to change that fallback order?
evdw87
link me to the page
Type-21
which one? www.stackoverflow.com ?
evdw87
indeed helvitcia-neue and helvetica seems to be preferred over arial
it might be that you miss out on the regular font
install the complete font family
Type-21
evdw87 the font amily costs money
so i don't have it
*family
evdw87
Type-21: not the best option, you're right
well, if you don't have the regular font, that's the main problem in this case I guess
not sure what the best workaround would be
Type-21
the only option i see is to uninstall the helvetica neue black font :(
evdw87
well, if you really need it it's not an option..
Type-21
i do have helvetica medium installed too. i would really like them to use that instead
bad design choice by the web designers there
evdw87
Type-21: do you know any css?
Type-21
barely. do you want me to make some userscript to change fonts?
evdw87
a userstyle could help
Type-21: hmm, i found this: https://userstyles.org/styles/109427/stackoverflow-style-fixer
Type-21
evdw87 it's not limited to that website. it's dozens of websites
i think it's all those websites who try to use helvetica
evdw87
damn nasty
auscompgeek
the fix is to install the rest of the helvetica fonts :P
Type-21
that's over 1k usd for the whol family :D
