Apple dropped flash support didn't they ? Why can't firefox do whatever apple users do ?
every browser manufacturer deprecates flash. Adobe barely support it. Why do content providers still ues it ?
yarddog
flash is the one plugin firefox will continue to support
according to that blog, its the one and only
artag
what's the difference between a plug-in and an add-on ?
Peng
Add-on is the umbrella term for plugins, extensions, etc.
yarddog
plugin is flash, java, etc; extension is ghostery, adblock, etc
from that article i read from mozilla, they'll still allow extensions
i guess oracle is figuring out something with mozilla to allow java as well
but just because chrome, edge and safari dont allow something, i dont think that means firefox should bandwagon
imho
allizom
artag: plug-ins are executables that interact with FX using the NPAPI, extensions use XUL/SDK/bootstrap and in the future WebExtensions
yarddog
^^
Peng
yarddog: Just because the other browsers do something, doesn't mean Firefox should take the opposite approach just to be different, if they actually agree
yarddog
i agree with that too
just seems like a bandwagon at times
if good reasoning is provided for taking the approach is given, yes
at this time, i dislike google a lot, wont use chrome, wife does, i dislike edge and safari, safari not as much, but firefox just keeps hanging in there :) i keep coming back to it, 40 brought me back with win 10
i did use chrome but grudgingly with win 8.1
my mac, i use firefox exclusively if i can
not a linux user
i talk too much lol

hello
how can i disable that phishing/malware site protection?
somehow someone added kickasstorrents there :S
https://torrentfreak.com/chrome-and-firefox-block-kickasstorrents-over-harmful-programs-151009/
:S
everyday firefox becomes more and more crap :S
Jake
Don't suppose anyone knows why Firefox seems to freeze when loading YouTube videos in 1080p@60FPS? It's definitely not a hardware problem

Is there any way to open JavaScript links in a new tab or window? Unfortunately I have to deal with a horribly designed site stuck in 1995
XXCoder
new site has smooth scroll enabled when I specifically disabled in firefox settings.
double checked. still disabled. :(

hi
fiefox is eating 100% CPU with this page, is it same for you? http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/136523-windows-xp-crashing-every-3-days/
ryonaloli
how would i go about finding a memmove() in firefox in a parsing function, with a multiple of a sizeof of some wchar?
tl;dr there is a vulnerability in the line "memmove(pwszStr, &pwszStr[1], wcharCount * sizeof(wcharCount));", however the names of the variables may have changed
Peng
There's like a 0.1% chance that'll get answered here. :X
ryonaloli
Peng: is this a very dead channel?
Peng
Pretty much
Mozilla's other 14,999 channels are on irc.mozilla.org. Which may or may not allow Tor connects.
ryonaloli
welp
their loss
Peng
It's been getting flooded of late. I'm unsure of the normal or current Tor status there.
ryonaloli
oh wait
i'm not even using tor
Peng
\o/
ryonaloli
what is their main channel?
fu*k i just did /list on rizon by mistake ._.
Peng
The main user channel's #firefox, the main developer channel... i don't know any more. #developers might be good. https://wiki.mozilla.org/IRC
I don't know if they have a public security channel, since "public IRC channel" is mostly the opposite of good for security issues.
auscompgeek
^ this
ryonaloli
well considering the vuln was talked about on a public *security* channel already...
it's not like there's an imperitive to go through responsible disclosure
Peng
and it might be another browser :\
Don't you love puzzles
ryonaloli
well, he did say a major web browser
if it were chromium, the html/css stuff is sandboxed
auscompgeek
ah, ##security, fun

ryonaloli
and if dmnc is right and he has the source to IE, then it doesn't matter to me, but i somehow doubt that because he would likely not be allowed to discuss such a vulnerability if he was given the source code
Peng
ryonaloli: As opposed to their otherwise responsible, conscientious behavior?
ryonaloli
well there's a difference between irresponsible disclosure and losing your jo
*job
Peng
Mm
ryonaloli
unfortunately the real vulnerabilities i want him to disclose he's still keeping secret :/
(grsec bypass, possibly based on futex(), which works on the latest grsec kernels and will not be fixed until spender or linux devs become aware of it)
Peng
D:
ryonaloli
when i asked if he'd disclose it, he said "he might tell spender next time he sees him" :P
Peng
D:
ryonaloli
and "but i have a feeling spender will just reply with ':p'"
Peng
D:
ryonaloli
yeah
scary
apparently there are several techniques
on the up-side, knowing that got me really into seccomp...
