hey quick question I changed my website, but firefox remembers when I type in www.domain.com it automatically puts in www.domain.com/cgi-bin/home which was my old site. It no longer exists anymore I just need www.domain.com to go in.. any ideas how to only remove this one site's information?
without wiping all the other history information etc..
previous site had a redirector from a www to www1 that redirector in the .htaccess is gone etc but firefox keeps remembering it somehow
SirTopHat_
apparently, it's impossible to have two search boxes at once in the toolbar
I'd want Google and Youtube next to eachother
instead of having to click the little arrow by the search box
rjohnson19
_LoneCrow: try finding it in the history sidebar (Ctrl+H) and right clicking and choosing Forget about this site.
Barkhorn
_LoneCrow, htaccess are sometimes cached serverside, nothing firefox can do about that. can try clear cache though
_LoneCrow
Oh cool thanks was wondering if you could manually edit your history
SirTopHat_
find the history files and edit them with notepad or something
_LoneCrow
Oh yeah much easier than manually going through everything such a cool feature
The "forget this site" forgot all the references to the site in the past month.. awesome thanks it works..

I know this isn't stictly FX-related, but surely someone here can help me (or redirect me). I would like to write a homepage in html (for my smartphone), with forms that are search boxes (like one for Google, one for Wikipedia, etc.) How can I do that in HTML?

auscompgeek
You can look through the MDN. https://developers.mozilla.org
WiW
Is that site down?
auscompgeek
Er, I probably typed it wrong.

question: is the gre conf path hardcoded?
dontlie!
SirTopHat_
djustice, if it is, you could fix it with a hex editor possibly
djustice
xD indeed.
nsXPCOMPrivate.h <- hardcoded paths. not kool. not kool.
auscompgeek
Hardcoded paths!? O_o
djustice
heck yea -.- sucks.
/etc/gre.d/*.conf
it's a compile-time define switch.. but that doesnt help at all.. i need sth liek an env var for it..

Hi, I'm working on a image loader and have noticed that in firefox an Image's load event is fired twice, once when it starts loading, and once when it completes, while in webkit (where i was originally working) it only fires when the image is finished loading. This is creating problems because the app thinks the image is loaded when it isn't (and has just started). Anyone know if it is possible to detect the 'true' onload event, e.g. something that fires o
the browser has finished completely loading an image?
marekw2143
hi, is it possible to set breakpoint in firebug when some variable changes value?
giaco
hello

I've a java applet that works if firebug console is enabled, and it stop working if firebug console is turned off

I call "firefox -ProfileManager" twice, but second time it doesn't open the profile manager, but opens with the profile I opened before. Can I force it to open profile manager, so I can run two different profiles at the same time?
gavin
-no-remote
add that
plouffe
let me try
gavin, that works, thanks
xaxxon
http://xaxxon.slackworks.com/test.html and http://xaxxon.slackworks.com/test2.html <== in test2 if you :hover over the words, the background changes color, in test.html it doesn't. Only difference is a very slight CSS change
seems like both should work. this is using ff4b1
also with some 3.0 version
enthdegree
Colors don't appear to be displaying properly in firefox 3.6.6
auscompgeek
hm?
xaxxon
I did that. I don't like colors, so I disabled them in an emergency release branch so I could inflict my beliefs upon others.
give it a chance. It'll brow on you
yates
anyone familiar with html5 constructs?
<audio src="test.ogg" controls="controls">
what codecs does firefox 3.5.10 support inside the ogg container ?
does it support speex?
rjohnson19
yates: no, see https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Media_formats_supported_by_the_audio_and_video_elements

yates
rjohnson19: thanks much!

SeriousMatters1
hi, newbie question about addon.
how to make .jar file in windows?
kbrosnan
zip and rename
SeriousMatters1
I see. thanks
kbrosnan
or get a good archiver tool such as 7-zip
SeriousMatters1
I have 7-zip
kbrosnan
hm, guess it does not offer jar
SeriousMatters1
google tells me that .jar file is related to java executable.
kbrosnan
in this case it is not
but firefox uses the same format
SeriousMatters1
kbrosnan, it doesn't work.
I unzipped a .jar file using 7-zip, and rezip the same thing.
they are different
auscompgeek
it's better if it's not compressed
;)

can someone help me change the settings of how firefox displays pictures? Right now they display full size and I'm trying to get them to load so they fit the window
Karatine
:p teh n0000000b
auscompgeek
LUCIDementia: ?
LUCIDementia
yes?
just switched to Mandriva, and now whenever a picture loads (like browsing wallpapers now) it loads much larger than the display window. It only takes one click to make it smaller, but it didn't used to be that way so I figured there must be a way to change it back
so I came here
well alright

Hi, is it possible to tweak the buffer size of the video player in Firefox?
I'm doing streaming of live video over http, and the player seems to spend an awful long time buffering before starting playback.

hi, i have a userChrome.css and i'm setting a background-image:url();
anyway as url i need to set a chrome:// path but don't know where to put my png
gavin
why do you need a chrome:// path?
zjk
http://community.activestate.com/faq/customizing-the-komodo-ui
gavin: http://community.activestate.com/faq/customizing-the-komodo-ui#comment-10126
#tabbed-view tabs > tab[label$=".css"] .tab-image-left { background-image: url(chrome://famfamfamsilk/skin/icons/page_white_paint.png) !important; }
gavin
that example uses a chrome URI, but that doesn't mean that chrome URIs are requried
you can just use a file:// URI
zjk
yes anyway as i want it to be portable on unix and windows
gavin
so you want to package your png with the build?
zjk
yes
the best would be in the same directory as userChrome.css
gavin
userChrome.css lives in the profile
zjk
C:\Documents and Settings\<your_username>\Application Data\ActiveState\KomodoIDE\5.2\host- <your_hostname>\XRE\chrome\userChrome.css
anyway i don't understand the way this app handle relative path and where i am when i use file:// or chrome://
as it's surely not based relatively from userChrome.css
gavin
I don't know how komodo profiles work
zjk
yes anyway file:// uri will handle file at which level in the pathsystem ?
gavin
but I don't understand what you mean by "portable on unix and windows" if you're modifying that userChrome.css file
file:// URIs are absolute
zjk
chrome:// also ?
gavin
yes
chrome:// URIs refer to files in chrome packages
defined by manifests
zjk
manifest are linked with jar files right ?
gavin
usually, but not necessarily
zjk
as i want to access these png both on komodo linux and win filesystem, i need so to make a manifest for using the crome:// in my userChrome.css ?
gavin
how do you plan to sync up the userChrome files on both systems?
why can't you just do the same with the image file?
zjk
do the same ?
gavin
the userChrome.css file is not packaged with the app. why does the image file it refers to need to be?
zjk
ok one point, i want to give the userChrome.css and all png to a friend that is on linux, the best way would be that he won't have to modify the userChrome
gavin
put it up on the web, use an http:// URL? :)
zjk
lol
and if he's offline !
gavin
you can use a resource:// URI and ask him to drop the png in the appdir
resource: URIs are appdir-relative
zjk
i tried resource but not at app dir level ... i try this ;)
not working :./
resource:// it's at the .exe that is runned level ?
gavin
where did you put the png, and what resource:// URI are you using?
zjk
the png : C:\Program Files\ActiveState Komodo Edit 5\icones\conf.png
gavin
resource:///icones/conf.png
zjk
three / ?
gavin
yes
zjk
!
gavin
resource:/// is the appdir
zjk
rha not working
i use : background-image: url(resource:///icones/listener.png)
