anyone having problems with links on google not responding with the latest version of firefox?
TechnicalNerd
Would anybody be able to tell me what Angus Davis did for the creation of Firefox?
JamesC93
This is weird...
The history menu hasn't been updating. It still shows pages I visited a week ago.
Yet when I go to Show All History, all my history is up to date
Version 3.5.10 on Mac 10.4
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.1.10) Gecko/20100504 Firefox/3.5.10
kbrosnan
TechnicalNerd: name is not familar to me but an email would be more useful
JamesC93: does it update correctly in Firefox's safe mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
JamesC93
No, it is still there in safe mode
kbrosnan: ^
TechnicalNerd
kbrosnan: What?

im using a slow proxy andi get connecgtion has timed out. how to stop it. can i incrase the timeout
Kaell
maybe network.proxy.failover_timeout ?
nope
azizLIGHTS
is it possible
Kaell
browser. microsummary. requestTimeout
Determines how long to wait for a response until the connection is cancelled. A positive integer determining the number of seconds to wait until cancelling microsummary loads that take too long. Default value is 300.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.microsummary.requestTimeout
azizLIGHTS
i dont have that
Kaell
so add it
eh, not sure that is it anyway
looks like it is for bookmarks?
network. http. request. timeout
that should be it
doh, removed, unused
azizLIGHTS
hmmmm any more ideas
Kaell
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142326
you might try this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314053
are you on windows or linux?
increase HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\TcpMaxConnectRetransmissions
your best bet is to try the registry entry for TCP retries, if on windows...
otherwise, it looks like you're SOL
azizLIGHTS
im on win7
ok
mako-sama
hello
is there a way to disable extensions compatibility checking in ffox 4beta pre?
Cork[home]
sure
extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0b = false
mako-sama
hmm... that didn't work
Cork[home]
it does
mako-sama
I did that already :/
Cork[home]
with 4.0b?
mako-sama
yup.. I tried 4.0b2pre then I cut out the 'pre' part then I cut out the 2 as well
Cork[home]
ok, then make sure you have extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0b set to false now
mako-sama
:P
it is
Cork[home]
and then clear the extensions.sqlite in your profile

mako-sama
I wonder what is wrong
let me try with a new profile
Cork[home]
if you prefer sure
mako-sama
weird.. it works in the new profile
Cork[home]
its not wierd
your most likly has a corrupt database
thats why i said you clear the extension.sqlite file
mako-sama
it still works when I switch back to minefield 3.7
anyway...
sessionmanager doesn't work ~_~
firebug works
Peacenix

i have trouble compiling mozilla with cairo-qt backend
xerox1
hi, i would like to "disable" all the stuff around the main window except the address bar; i've tested several addons but wasn't that happy with them; any recommendations?
merriam
xerox1, I'd use Tiny Menu and move the address bar just to the right of the menu.
xerox1
merriam, how do i move the addressbar?
merriam
right-click the menu and customize
xerox1
merriam, that works; thanks a lot

kbrosnan
kateweb: almost every extension is broken on the trunk
since july 1
kateweb
i figuerd

I'm trying to get my cookies in "cookies.txt" format, and I found some commands/scripts to run to do that, but apparently the sqlite database is "locked"
kbrosnan
the sqlite databases are opened in exclusive mode, you might be able to use the sqlite manager extension to export the cookies to a seperate db
crimson_penguin
hmm, well I got it working by quitting
serenissimus
hello to everybody. I'm sorry for my bad english, but me need something ask. In the 4 version of firefox I found something interesting about recognition (face recognition if be exact). This calling opencivitas. And question is: Where I can find more information about this? I search in the google and find nothing.
kbrosnan
i have no idea what you are talking about.
do you have a link to your source for that info/
serenissimus
http://ajaxian.com/archives/firefox-4-with-lots-of-speed-improvements-and-inline-svg
"face detection with opencivitas"
i'm just want know how they want do that.
using neural networks or support vector machines
kbrosnan
i think it is just using pixel polling to to find the iris and find the face off of that
serenissimus
than they need find something more that iris.
Like nose or mouth
kbrosnan
just a guess
http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/current-work/multipage/the-canvas-element.html#pixel-manipulation
serenissimus
ok
I'm suppose can they calling like (opencivitas) another project - OpenCV
http://sourceforge.net/projects/opencvlibrary/
And make binding from canvas api to this lib
Ok. Thanks for help. kbrosnan - thanks.
sysiphus
hello, firefox sends requests continously to http://js-kit.com:80/api/echo/subscribe, could anyone of you tell me which service sends this request and how could i disable it?
i am trying to intercept the requests and all these requests are stacked. So i don't need them
kbrosnan
not part of Firefox some media company http://techcrunch.com/tag/js-kit/
sysiphus
is it any plug in?
kbrosnan
http://blog.aboutecho.com/ http://aboutecho.com/about-overview.html
sysiphus: i guess some extension might be using it. though it really looks like something for blogs or similar
which makes me think that you have some poorly codeded page.
or something like adblock or noscript is causing it to ping all the time
d1b
question i there soemthing like about:build?
where i can see what was compiled static vs dynamic
kbrosnan
about:buildconfig
d1b
--enable-application=browser --enable-optimize --disable-tests :(
but i just recompiled with sytem png ...
system*
and the sqlite3 lib readelf shows as being dyanmically linked...
dynamically*
kbrosnan
are you sure you lanunched the correct firefox
d1b
YES
i just recompiled to avoid the libpng latest bug
kbrosnan
and that you closed all pre-existing firefox windows?
d1b
wow the firefox libpng is so old
dude
i closed it
i know
kbrosnan
just checking for the stupid mistakes people make. i have no way to know what you've done
d1b
ok ill show the .mozconfig
http://pastebin.com/C2pKLPRC
why isn't it the default anyways?
kbrosnan
what system libs? most disros set that.
d1b
i compile from source dude
kbrosnan
duh
d1b
why the hell isn't it the default on linux?
to use the system libs
kbrosnan
makes testing more reliable
d1b
static linking - because security is awesome with that
*fail*
kbrosnan
i'm sure there are other reasons
d1b
like we like getting pwned?
i hope someone has already filed a bug
'testing' well there is --without too
bad reason
mess with us too much and we will just give up
7fc0f42fc000-7fc0f42fe000 rw-p 00025000 fe:01 51298305 /lib/libpng12.so.0.44.0
awesome
bah it went for its own dated sqlite even tho i said not too
kbrosnan: whatever happened to mozilla?
release early release often...
kbrosnan
they release security updates on a ~monthly schedule. they release dev builds at least once a quarter. They have been doing a lot of backend work over the last few releases, stablizing those changes takes a bit of time.

Hey, why does this photo not render properly in firefox?
http://imgur.com/N0v8U.png
Download it and open it in feh or something
hlouis
Hi guys, I've had problems with flash video playback on firefox. When I start up Firefox it's fine, but after I few hours, the video plays like a scratched record, and I have to close and re-open firefox.
It seems linked to the screensaver
If I let the computer unattended it happens, but if I regularly use it so the screensaver stays disabled, I can't reproduce it.
Any ideas?
I'm thinking maybe when the computer switches ACPI status, it confuses the flash rendering plugin.
enthdegr1e
Is it flash or firefox that acts up?
hlouis
Well, firefox on windows doesn't have this problem
Only my firefox 3.5.9 on xubuntu
But I can't know if the problem is with the adobe flash plugin, since it's closed-source and all...
BTW, the image you posted renders fine on my Computer... What version of Firefox and OS are you using?
enthdegr1e
Hmm. I'm using 3.5.4 because it's the one in the fedora repos.
hlouis
You could try installing the latest version from source
I've heard PNG rendering was broken in the old versions, so perhaps it's your problem
