I'm running Firefox 3.6.6
Under Ubuntu 10.04
But I can't seem to get two instances running at the same time with different profiles.
This should work, though, shouldn't it?

Greeting

I have this rather trivial yet annoying problem with Thunderbird: Let's say I got fifty emails from fifty different people. How do I do add everyone's addresses to a single message in order to make a single reply to all of them?
Er, anyone?
Snares
Faethin: I would love to know that myself.
Faethin
Snares: Are you saying that there seems to be no simple way of doing it? O_O
Ha ha, I'm kinda screwed then :p
Snares
Faethin: None that I know of :)
Faethin: But that certainly does not mean there isn't.
Faethin: If you can't find one, I would imagine it wouldn't be too hard to write a script that parses each email, creates a list, and dumps it in a new address line.
Faethin
Snares: if you're computer savvy
Me, I'm just a humble Chemist :p
darkrho
anybody knows which is the channel for rhino?
Faethin
darkrho: have you tried #rhino?
darkrho
Faethin, says rhinoequipment.com
I just wanted to know the equivalent of CLASSPATH/PYTHONPATH for js scripts, to get working load() method with relative scripts

Faethin
darkrho: sorry then, that was the first thing that sprung to my mind
what client do you use?
darkrho
I'm running a js script fron command line
Faethin
Because some clients have list of channels available
Oh
darkrho
using java org.mozilla.javascript.tools.shell.Main
Faethin
Well, have you tried merely googling the question?
darkrho
no luck there, I'm not sure what to look for
anyway, is not a critical issue

Jimi`
anyone else hate the new about:addon for firefox4 beta?
Snares
Jimi`: The what?
Jimi`
Tools > addons
Downloads still works like the old one, where it's its own window.
but they decided to rip off chrome's extention page for their addon management now
which i dont like
Getting a glitch too, while having 3.6.6 installed and 4.0beta1, It claims that my "Default 4.0b1" theme is incompatitible with Firefox 4.0b1, yet I'm still using it.
Snares
Jimi`: Ah...well, it's different. Not sure if I like it more or less. It appears to have more features, like ratings; I can give it that.
Jimi`
ratings?
sorry i havent even seen the changelog, i just jumped right in
Snares
Jimi`: Over the addon, there is a 5 star rating system.
Jimi`
ah
yeah i dont really care
but its just like
HUGE
Snares
Honestly, I have to say that overall, FF4 does seem a lot faster, and the UI is very nice :)
I have been considering switching to Chrome, but I don't think I will now.
Jimi`
chrome makes me pull out my eyeballs
Snares
Actually, I would never switch to Chrome on my desktop, since it doesn't crash and performance is good enough for me anyway.
Jimi`
ui is hideous, the add-ons arent as good

Snares
But it is a lot faster on slower rigs and netbooks.
Jimi`
yeah
ill probably end up using chromium or something on my netbook
na
i'd use midori
Snares
I'll just multiboot them all :)
Jimi`
i've just been using firefox 3.6.6 with strata40 theme
and its been perfect for like tricking me into thinking i had 4.0 already
http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/9216/screenshot005fi.jpg
that has been my 3.6.6 UI
plus i hate having tabs show up in the windows 7 taskbar, tabs aren't windows. >.<
Snares
Jimi`: Same. I actually complained about it. *However*, you can disable it by about:config -> browser.taskbar.previews.enable;false
Jimi`
but does that do it for just tabs
i want window previews
Snares
Jimi`: Yes, just for tabs.
Jimi`
oh excellent
Snares
Jimi`: Do you also click on the icon to minimize/maximize?
Jimi`
yeah
Snares
I find that I like the tabs, but when I can't click to minimize, it slows me down.
Jimi`
yeah
Snares
You can do Windows + M, but that's slow :|
jimisrvrox
hey guys im having a bit of a delay when I do ctrl+c/ctrl+v with FF..using Win7 and have plenty of memory and cpu to not have lag..any suggestions on fixing it or figure its a winblows problem?
Snares
jimisrvrox: Are you the other jimi? lol
Jimi`
haha :P
jimisrvrox
no
Snares
jimisrvrox: No lag here... are you running an nvidia chipset/card?
jimisrvrox
yeah I believe so...I boiled that problem down to delicious.com as it worked fine in notepad,fb, and chatzilla..
Snares
jimisrvrox: ah
jimisrvrox: Wait, so you're saying this problem only happens with a certain website in FF?
jimisrvrox
yeah unfortuantely....its loaded with ajax..but usually havent had a prob with it in the past..
I guess I could try using opera for it and see if it works any better...also I believe uses java as well and opera is usually notably faster than FF on load times and working with ajax/java sites..
Snares
jimisrvrox: Well... does notably faster = it's twice as fast because it loads in 1 ms instead of 2 ms?
Because I don't really care so long as the page loads in a reasonable amount of time (less than a second)
jimisrvrox
I suppose its just merely perception
I mainly use Firefox if you really care...only time I'll use opera is if Firefox is becoming unstable..
ie bunch of windows/tabs..and starts giving me no response windows...
Snares
haha
happys to sads: 6217 - 7459
I guess the theory is that most people that submit feedback have an issue, and those that are happy don't :P
beta 2 is out
there's a 64 bit now?
wow
hmm
such a pity there is no 64 bit flash :|
actually, maybe it's not a pity, not sure :P
alloosh
hi guys, I need to be able to dial a phone number (using my modem) by clicking a link on my browser, any advice?
ghum
using minefield nightly. How can I make the menu appear using the mouse? (as with pressing the "Alt"-Key)
JoeUF
Can someone tell me why does Firefox render dashed borders misaligned from each other?
Snares
Why is it that Firefox plugins appear to be loading from folders besides Firefox? For instance, I can delete the Program Files Mozilla folder and the AppData folders, and the Itunes application detector will still show up
ghum: I don't think you can, unless you specify a comination using an addon.
ghum
Snares: you are thinking of sth like firegestures?
Snares
yeah
ghum
sad :) ... love that "mouse only surfing" when sitting laid back in the chair... .)
Snares
haha
iomari
greetings, is firefox 4 beta worth using yet?
DukeDrake
hi
Anarchy7
hi guys, I would like to get images from flash files, is that possible ?
DukeDrake
Is it possible to create a link for users to return to their startpage?
crocket
Hi
I installed firefox 3.6 in FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE, and it generates an error, Illegal instruction (core dumped).
If I don't drop down a menu, it lasts for about a minute, but if I drop down a menu, it exits right away with that error.
dg_guy
hi firefox!!!
DukeDrake
"about:home" in IE loads the users homepage ... is there an equivalent in Firefox?
mahershalal
hi all. I have a question about 4.0b1 in ubuntu
the 4.0b1 theme is not working, and ff looks the same as in 3.0. What's more, it doesn't even load the images of the buttons. What can I do?
crocket
no one..
Cube``
for some reason firefox doesnt scroll down when i press the arrow-down key, why could that be?=
dg_guy
anyone?
damd
hi. is there any keybinding to put focus on the document in firefox?
e.g. if i'm in the location bar and want to use the quick search
which is bound to '
belak
I need some help - firefox is segfaulting when I try to print. I'm on gentoo... any suggestions? Oh, it's v 3.6.6
joeytwiddle
belak: i often "Print to File" (.ps format) and then send to printer with lp
lp <filename.ps>
perhaps you will still crash, but if not, that's a workaround until you fix it :)
belak
How do you print to file without the print dialog?
Sorry, I should have specified it segfaults when I hit ctrl-P or go to File->Print
drale2k
hey guys
Isn`t FF supporting html 5 video and audio tag ?
unCork[home]
yes it does
Cork[home]
drale2k: you need firefox 3.5+ though
drale2k
Cork[home]: I use 3.6.6 but when i visit http://incident57.com/less/ , well see
like its not supporting
Oh the video is h264
Cork[home]
ya
even wors then that its m4v, and thats more or less only appel that support
drale2k
Man.. this sucks so hard. Will they never come to one point where it just works
Cork[home]
drale2k: yes it will, except sites made for apple
the rest of the net has desided to use WebM
drale2k
Cork[home]: I am not sure if it will, FF and Opera will not support h264
Cork[home]
apple is the only one that isn't supporting it
h264 won't ever be a web standard
its was to much patent on that one
*way
drale2k
Cork[home]: yeah but i read that WebM has its patents too
and that they need to check out if it is really open
Cork[home]
ya, by google
but its a free for all patent
rjohnson19
Flash will support webm though, so you'll be able to do a fallback for people with older/Safari browsers.
Cork[home]
flash will mozilla does, opera does, chrome does
drale2k
IE9 ?
Cork[home]
micosoft say they will
drale2k
ie9 will support h264 or?
Cork[home]
hardare producers say they will produce cards
only if its supported in the system
drale2k
As far as i know Apple does not want to support it because there is no hardware decoder for it
Cork[home]
drale2k: if you want a format that works in most places its webm
drale2k
and it uses too much batery on mobile devices to decode it in software
Cork[home]
drale2k: appel wants h.264 for the own reasons
its not only cause of hw
drale2k
heh yeah, because they llready paid for it :p
Cork[home]
ya
but the fact is, h.264 won't ever (at least untill nero has had there fight with the mpeg group) sutable for the web
drale2k
I hope so, i mean i just want it to work
and they fu*k arround every time something new comes out
i`d like to kick in their faces
Cork[home]
thats what software patents are for
to make other pay for something thats obvius for everyone
drale2k
stupid humans
Cork[home]
ya
its mostly stupid american patent law
actually :)
drale2k
heh ok but if it would not be american it would be something else =)
and the other question i have is about CSS3
Cork[home]
no, actually software patents doesn't exist in many places outside the us
drale2k
things like webkit uses, transform, gradients etc, will FF use them ?
Cork[home]
will us?, uses rater :)
drale2k
äh i mean implement them
:p
Cork[home]
-moz-gradient, -moz-transform
google it :)
drale2k
yeah but why -moz
Cork[home]
they are already implemented and used in 3.6
^^
drale2k
ok did not know that
Cork[home]
drale2k: thats called vendor prefixes
drale2k
but why they use their own prefix
Cork[home]
and as css3 is still in development, they SHOULD us it when they implement it
drale2k
aha ok
its sad that border-radius: works in IE
Cork[home]
ya
drale2k
but for webkit and gecko we need prefixes
Cork[home]
but they didn't add the vendor prefix
its a shame
