houms
I am looking for an addon that will highlight all the words, that you search for, in the search results
does one exist?
Cork[home]
its in by default
"highligh all"
houms
you are referring to the default search correct? I was hoping of an addon that by default when I search for 'whatever', in the search results I could click any of the results and the word 'whatever' would be hightlighted wherever it was found on that page automatically
mm3
I have in /usr/lib/browser-plugins javaplugin.so libjavaplugin_oji.so but they are not detected now
why there isn't a log of firefox to understand a bit what it is doing?
demas
when do you expect that 3.7 realised of FF
coming out to the people
all over the world
Cork[home]
it won't 4.0 will be released around november though
demas

houms

xangua
demas: there is no going to be fx 3.7

demas

T1750
is there an add-on like the nightly developer toolbar but simply allows you to modify the title bar, notibly to show which profile name is in use
guy
Should -moz-calc work?
it seems not to..
I attempt to: height: -moz-calc(100px+100px);
rjohnson19
guy: where'd you get the impression it was done? It hasn't been implemented yet.
guy
any ideas why this does not work?
height: -moz-calc(100% - 500px); overflow: hidden;
rjohnson19
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Mozilla_CSS_support_chart is saying its supported in Gecko 2, but it should say "will be" since its not actually implemented yet and Gecko 2 isn't out
(-moz-calc, that is)
guy
Where can I download a beta or something of FF4?

foobar_
hi, when could we expect new UI in nigthly ff4 on linux?
guy: nightly.mozilla.org
guy
setup.exe prefered.
xangua
foobar_: the tabs are not on top aren't they┬┐┬┐
foobar_
guy: it is precompiled
guy
Oh. It is.
They used to provide .zips there. : )
Cork[home]
foobar_: they will first get the windows theme ready, then most likly go for mac and finally linux
foobar_
xangua: it is optional (right click on main bar)
Cork[home]
at least thats how its been before
foobar_
Cork[home]: oh :S
guy
Oh. Ship. The new FF4 theme looks awful.
Cork[home]
?
guy
It used to be soo clean.
foobar_
guy: enjoy, i've to wait
Cork[home]
most responces i've gotten is that ppl love it actually
guy: what os?
guy
Lol. Visits https://hotelspublisher.com/ with FF4 gives: Please use Firefox to access the backend of Hotels Publisher system. Follow this link to install the browser.
Cork[home], Windows server.
Cork[home]
guy: ah, classic theme?
foobar_
guy: because your header in fact does not contain "Firefox" keyword
guy: nightly version is called "Minefield"
Cork[home]
ya add general.useragent.extra.release;Firefox/3.6.4
to your about:config
that should be all you need
hmm, better bump that version number :)
guy: the planes for the new theme: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/4.0_Windows_Theme_Mockups
guy
Seems like https://hotelspublisher.com/ is too smart for that, Cork[home]. Changing headers didn't work.
Cork[home]
(Action) checked
-s
foobar_
Cork[home]: any guess when it would appear?
Cork[home]
its already out in the vista/7 aqua theme
classic and xp still have some kinks left
foobar_
i know, thats why i was asking about linux :)
guy
Cork, any ideas what else they could be checking if this does not work>
Cork[home]
ah
guy: they are checking the user agent
there is nothing else for them to check
but you prob have to replace the complete user agent
guy
you mean headers by that.. well, they still don't identify me as a Firefox
Cork[home]
no not headers
the browsers useragent
guy
Can I fake that
?
Cork[home]
sure
look in amo for useragent switcher
foobar_
guy: try to fake general.useragent.extra.firefox
Cork[home]
foobar_: extra doesn't help
the agent has to be replaced
there parser does it in a none traditional way
guy
what for does the abbreviation AMO stands?
Cork[home]
addons.mozilla.org
a.m.o
guy
none of the work with FF4
none == "User Agent Switcher"
foobar_
guy: try overriding compatibility, lots of addons work fine
Cork[home]
ya
guy
how to do that?
Cork[home]
extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0b = false
scary when you know the prefs keys at the top of your head: s
* :s
guy
I accidently set it to string type and now can't delete it.
Cork[home]
just reset itm and create a new one
*it,
guy
I tried that. Nothing changes. It remains string type.
foobar_
remove it in prefs.js in your profile folder :)
Cork[home]
guy: you can't create a new one with the same name?
guy
I will try what foobar_ said.
Cork[home]
guy: the search filter doesn't automatically update its list when you add a new value
but ya removing it from prefs.js while firefox is closed is garanteed to work
guy
oh. you were right after all.
Cork[home]
you need to restart firefox for the pref to take affect
T1750
is it possible to take a button from inside the firefox options and place it on the tooolbar, even if this requires a little code?
Cork[home]
"a little code"?
btw by options do you mean the options dialog?
guy
Ok... that didn't help neither
They still don't identify me as not FF user
T1750
i want the nuke cookies button on my tooolbar :)
Cork[home]
guy:did you restart firefox?
guy
whatsmybroswers.com say however
USER_AGENT: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; en-US; rv:2.0b2pre) Gecko/20100630 Firefox/4.0b2pre Firefox
Cork, yes.
Cork[home]
ah thats what you meant
guy: reset the extra.release value
guy
It set to Firefox
Cork[home]
ya reset it to blank
btw did you get the useragent switcher installed?
guy
yes
Cork[home]
you should have some options in tools > useragent <something>
select the useragent for a release firefox
guy
there is no such thing as tools > in ff4 that I can see
Cork[home]
press alt
(blame windows explorer and ie for that)
guy
(Action) and how should a user know this..
Cork[home]
as i said its a standard defined by vista and ie7+
guy
I did this
and I still get the message
Cork[home]
whats your useragent?
guy
It says: USER_AGENT: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; en-US; rv:2.0b2pre) Gecko/20100630 Firefox/4.0b2pre Firefox
don't seem to be different
Cork[home]
ugg, looks like that extension is broken...
foobar_
Cork[home]: thanks, cya
Cork[home]
guy: one sec let me see if i can find the about:config pref to do the same thing
i think there is one
guy
is there a way to start normal FF withouth removing this?
Cork[home]
general.useragent.override
sure, just start it
guy
nop... it starts the FF4 instead
Cork[home]
but you can't run them at the same time
guy
oh.
Cork[home]
if you want to you have to create a new profile
guy
Ok. I lost. hp.com is too smart for me. :)
wow.. that is not cool. Now hp.com identifies my original broswer as not FF
Cork[home]
guy: try general.useragent.override = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6
btw you can remove the useragent switcher before you try this
guy
is there a way to reset to default about:config?
Cork[home]
sure, right click the value that is bold and select reset
guy
oh. wait. now it is fine.
http://rcss.com/
is this 14$ or $14 000 ?
so funny..
Cork[home]
heh
guy
I can bet I will make my first m before he sell it for that.
rryouumaa
ok, i give up: how do you get noscript to enable only js on a given tab, instead of for the same site on every freaking tab the browser uses?
Cork[home]
rryouumaa: uncheck the reload tab when bla bla option
rryouumaa
Cork[home]: thanks that was going to be my last resort
panzi
any xpcom or jetpack experts here?
I get the strangest seg. faults whenever I try to load a page with jetpack
no matter if I try to load the page per tab.location = ... or per page-worker
I call this from within a callback I registered on a asyncWait for an async input stream reading data from the network
enthdegree
For some reason my bookmarks menu item disappeared.
panzi
are the bookmarks still there in the bookmark manager?
enthdegree
Does anyone know how to make tabs bigger vertically? (Not wider.)
What option in my userchrome can I use to edit menu names?
guy
are there any ways that Firefox would allow me to style file input?
T1750
what the hell is this CT123456.AboutPrivacyUrl;http://www.conduit.com/privacy/Default.aspx
in about:config
guy
It would be enough to read first sentence in the http://www.conduit.com/privacy/Default.aspx website
kbrosnan
T1750: conduit is resposible for most of the binary toolbars that ship with antivirus programs and things like skype
that intergrate into firefox
guy
Does Firefox provide any ways (CSS or..) to style file input? (The website is used only with FF)
smw
is there any way to specify the mimetype of a file in the url?
kbrosnan
guy: most of the normal stuff should work, style the borders, might even be able to round or dropshadow them if you want
smw: not if the server sends one
smw
kbrosnan, ok
guy
kbrosnan, well.. it seams that I even can't access the height property, not to mentioned the things you have listed. Actually, what I would like to do is to hide the textbox fragment.
Oh come on.
I can't even change the width of input file element?
kbrosnan
guy: finaly got bugzilla to load, I was completly wrong, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52500
fezzik
do you need the actual beta release to get the new Firefox Input/Feedback add-on? ie, it won't be in nightlies, right?
http://aakash.doesthings.com/2010/06/25/hi-my-name-is-firefox-input/
rjohnson19
fezzik: yeah, its not in trunk nightlies, at least for now.
fezzik
rjohnson19: thanks
rjohnson19
