FrozenFire[work]
Is there some way I could block specific files on a URL basis? I'd like to block a site I regularly visit from including a specific Javascript file.

Adobe Flash in KUbuntu 10.4: I have package flashplugin-installer installed, but Firefox says I don't have flash. What do I do?

hi guys ! ia have a little question...
I am loading a streaming video... I can see where it is loading, with "about:cache" in my cache directory10h30
ben when it is fully loaded, the file disappears from this directory.. but still i can play it without any problems in ff.. so it may be somewhere. Any idea?

I am trying to use HTML5 in Firefox, my HTML5 is valid and webkit parses it exactly like I would think it should but firefox fu*ks the dom really up so that the CSS selectors don't even have a chans to work http://jeena.net
should I add some extra thingy to get it work in firefox or what is the deal?
sdwilsh
what version of firefox are you using?
site looks fine to me
Jeena
3.6.3
sdwilsh
so, that doesn't have the html5 parser
kbrosnan
looks ok on trunk
sdwilsh
which is likely why the dom is funny
but that should only matter if your html doesn't validate

Jeena
http://jeenaparadies.net/t/s/latest.png chrome and fx dom of that site
kbrosnan
looks okish on 3.6.3 to me
any specifics you are having trouble with?
sdwilsh
I don't see anything different in that dom with the exception of the header
Jeena
I can not get the body > article > p:nth-child(odd) { color: red; } to work
because thre is no such thing in firefox' dom
article closes after the first details
sdwilsh
hmm
it works correctly in trunk builds
Jeena
I wanted to alternate rotation(0.2deg) and rotation(-0.5deg) for each <p> which is a direct child of article
sdwilsh
I'm guessing the parser in 3.6 can't handle something properly
yeah, it's doing that for me
Jeena
hm ok, that is a good thing, so there is hope ;)
sdwilsh
yeah
Firefox 4 is targeted for later this year
I'd post a screenshot, but that's hard for me to do right now
Jeena
oh the guys over in #selfhtml say it is a known bug and the <a> which encloses the hgroup with the two hx causes the problem
sdwilsh
that's what I was guessing, but no real clue about it
Jeena
hm ok
sdwilsh
it likely won't get fixed on 3.6
unless it regressed from 3.6.2 to 3.6.3
Jeena
hm ok, I think I will change this little thing and change it back when Fx 4 is there
sdwilsh
the parser has been completely rewritten in trunk so that it fully implements the html5 parsing spec
Jeena
nice
ok moving the <a> into the <hx> fixed all the problems
sdwilsh
hurray
EpicCyndaquil
is there any way we could work to take a site off the net? I just had the worst browser hijacking experience ever.
auscompgeek
We could report the site to Google ;)
EpicCyndaquil
heh.
It's not a phishing site though, so I doubt google really cares.

auscompgeek
Google also handles attack sites.
EpicCyndaquil
they don't block them the same the same way though in firefox, unless I'm mistaken
auscompgeek
They are handled differently, but are blocked in almost the same way.
The only difference is that Firefox tells you which it is.
EpicCyndaquil
alrighty then, do you know where the report page is?
auscompgeek
unfortunately not :S
EpicCyndaquil
I found it, or at least something of that nature
MapMan
hey
when I have multiple tabs open
and I close firefox
it doesnt even ask me if firefox shall save them or not
and when I reopen them, they're lost
how do I change that?
auscompgeek
open about:config in a new tab.
click the big button on the warning :D
MapMan
what setting do I need to look for?
auscompgeek
um, let me check my prefs.js
while you're waiting, check the link in the /topic.
MapMan
i installed an addon about handling tabs
I dont remember its name
I think it fu*ked my settings up
i already removed it
but damn
auscompgeek
Tab Mix Plus?
MapMan
yup
thats the addon
auscompgeek
I thought so :D
Mohamed
hi, it seems that there's a security bug in firefox
auscompgeek
Mohamed: what would that be?
Mohamed
auscompgeek
please don't tell me that was the @font-face bug which was fixed ages ago
Mohamed
no
it's a serious problem
rjohnson19
Mohamed
ok , thank you :)
and thank you for the efforts :)
rjohnson19
no problem

calling window.open(), firefox 3.5.9 seems to always open a new window regardless of user tab preference - how can I force the use of a new tab instead ?
rjb
hi i cant see hotmail page with firefox do you know what happens?
kbrosnan
/quit
rjb
so anybody knows why it is not possible go to hotmail.com with firefox? i have ubuntu
EpicCyndaquil
where do I set up keyword commands in the URL bar? for example, if I type "goo" and hit enter, have it go to google.com
auscompgeek
Click on the Google logo in the search box.
EpicCyndaquil
no, that was a stupid example
I want to do something like that
which I have done before
ah wait, do I do it from the bookmark itself?
yep, got it, nevermind.
auscompgeek
no, you can use the search engine.
EpicCyndaquil
I know, but I wanted to go to a bookmark by typing in a short phrase
that was simply a stupid example
JeroenDeDauw
Is there a way to change all entries in your history belonging to a domain, or start with a certain url, to something else, as not to have issues with autocomplete when something is moved? If not, is there a way to delete the originals (without deleting your whole history!)?
kbrosnan
JeroenDeDauw: deleting is simple, ctrl h, near the top of the side bar choose group by site
jazzyy
hi
i seem to be having a slight problem with firefox
whenever i download a file
and the file finishes downloading, firefox freezes up for about twenty seconds
kbrosnan
JeroenDeDauw: renaming would be difficult unless you have experience with sqlite
jazzyy: try turning off the following pref http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone
jazzyy
i had that disabled already
i renabled it to see if it was causing the problem
yeah seems to no longer freeze now
but it just takes a long time to scan it
lol
kbrosnan
well firefox is passing it of to your av
jazzyy
oh
JeroenDeDauw
kbrosnan: Ah to bad, but pretty much expected. Thanks for the help though :)

well, as I was about to say ... anyone here actually awake know how to change the default font for text boxes in FF3.6.x? I can't figure out how to set it to anything but what looks like courier or maybe fixed.
more to the point, I can't seem to find what setting controls it.
