SeriousMatters
need to compile, I assume.
FishFace
SeriousMatters, see if this addon looks good to you - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/4390/
Although they only mention POP3. Can't hurt to try though.
SeriousMatters
FishFace: interesting addon. let me try it
FishFace
Yeah. They do talk about orphaned accounts. Seems to fit your scenerio :)
kbrosnan
you can also find a #thunderbird channel on irc.mozilla.org and http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging
FishFace
Still don't know how its possible old accounts are downloading from the server though
mikubuntu
is there a firefox dev channel to find out about testing nitely builds?
SeriousMatters
mikubuntu, are you looking to compile it? I don't think deb/apt package is available for nightly
mikubuntu
SeriousMatters: I don't think i know how to compile .. on another computer (moms) at one time i had installed a separate instance of firefox, which was codenamed Shiretoko, and its still on her computer as a separate instance. hmm. now that i think about it, maybe it was a beta, and not a nightly build. cause i don't know how to compile now, so i sure din't know then.

SeriousMatters
mikubuntu, I am not sure. I never bothered using a nightly
mikubuntu
the point is, i'd like to have a separate instance of ff to keep with no addons, etc, to keep it fast, cause i never met an addon i din't like, and my ff on this machine is so bogged down i never use it anymore, unless i'm wanting to do a project that requires use of the addons. is that goofy?
kbrosnan
mikubuntu: if you want the mozilla builds it is fairly simple, download from nightly.mozilla.org and extract
create a shortcut with the full path to the firefox script that was extracted
adorabelle
hmm... i wonder if anyone could give me a clue on deleting the vlc plugin from firefox on mac? I've removed ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox,Mozilla, and removed ~/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.* - also removed VLC app and removed/reinstalled Firefox... can't get rid of it.
mikubuntu
kbrosnan, thanks
kbrosnan
if you want the ubuntu ppa nightlys #ubuntu should have more info
mikubuntu
kbrosnan, is that for me, too? about the ubuntu ppa nightlies?
kbrosnan
yes
mikubuntu
@kbrosnan: is that for me too, about the ubuntu ppa nightlies? i looked in synaptic package manager, and couldn't find any beta or nightly versions of firefox listed
@kbrosnan: lemme ask in ubuntu channel
killown

Brian_S

Argafal
i have an old homedirectory with a firefox profile i didn't use in ages. there is a certificate in it which i'd like to have in my current profile. how could i go to get it in there?
can i start firefox with a command line option to use the old directory and save the certificates into a file to import them later?
kbrosnan
Argafal: check if it is listed if you start firefox -P
Argafal
kbrosnan: it isn't. it's in a different directory than usual.
kbrosnan
creating a second profile and copying the files might work best
Argafal
kbrosnan: i solved it right now with a symlink.
