For a lot of reasons I have stuck to seamonkey over firefox. One thing is, IMHO, Really stupid UI changes. (I don't want it to configure like IE, I always hated it). Anyway I was switching over to firefox for rendering issues on my amd64 Gentoo linux box and when I came accross a pdf it opens the dialog for "opening foo.pdf" and gives me an open with choice, but there is no entry box! just...
...a browse button. That seems silly to navigate directories, some quiet large just to enter /usr/bin/kpdf. Is this configureable? Or just gotta live with it :-(
It can take a minute for that directory if I havend navigated to it recently in the file manager.
M06w

M06w

hello, i am using firefox 3.6.3, but @font-face like described here https://developer.mozilla.org/en/CSS/@font-face - is there any option i have to enable when i compile firefox to activate that?
Cork
nope
kbrosnan
it should be present on all Firefox 3.5+ builds
neldoreth
ok, it seems something in my profile is blocking the functionality of that, because with a new, empty profile it works
ok, it does not work perfect anyway - it worked on a example page, but not on a other one, where it works with other browser without a problem
kbrosnan
Firefox has restrictions on where it will fetch fonts from
https://developer.mozilla.org/En/HTTP_access_control
neldoreth
kbrosnan: thanks, i will read that - right now the site is just running on my local webserver
DND
hi guys is it possible to remove username and password for specific website only?
kbrosnan
DND: yes
DND: options/preferences > Security > saved passwords button
neldoreth
kbrosnan: as far as i understand that i only need those headers when i use direct links to other sites and not relative ones?
rapha
Hi all!
When I have an <input type=text and fill it out and submit the form, firefox will offer me that value as a choice in a dropdown next time i fill out the same form. is there any way for me as a web developer to prevent that dropdown from opening?

Hi all. I'm on Mandriva Linux Cooker and lately I've been getting a-few-pixels-offsets in Firefox in the horizontal table of the game here - http://www.brainbashers.com/fillomino.asp - I can reproduce it in a new user account. Can anyone reproduce this?
FunkyDude

Hey People! When I type slkjfsd into the location bar, i end up at www.slkjfsd.com. Is there a way to prevent this redirection in case the domain cannot be resolved?
auska
hi!
I'm not sure if this question shout be done here... but I will try...
exists any add-on that let me modify the .php files I take with the fireFTP
{g}
auska: which operating system do you use?
auska
i mean.... like gedit or kwrite but on the firefox...
slackware
do you understand what i want?
{g}
auska: i think i understand. but why do you want to do that?
auska: how about mounting your ftp folders via sshfs? its a really nice solution.
auska: then you can edit them however you like.
auska
aha... and how can do it with fireFTP or i need a different program?
{g}
auska: in ubuntu you get sshfs with "apt-get install sshfs"
auska: and then you do "sshfs yourname@yourserver.com/some_folder/ /your/mountpoint/"
kbrosnan
yeah you can't do what you want in fireftp
auska
a ok... i thought he sshfs was a method to mout it...
thanks ;)
kbrosnan
rindolf: yes, though i can repro on linux as well
RaceCondition
what should I do when I type an address in the address bar, press enter and nothing happens?
{g}
RaceCondition: whats the address?
rindolf
kbrosnan: ah, regarding my Fillomino problem?
RaceCondition
my own IP
{g}: but it's the same for any address
rindolf
RaceCondition: does it think?
RaceCondition
rindolf: no, nothing happens
{g}
RaceCondition: then i dunno
rindolf
RaceCondition: there should be something in the status bar.
RaceCondition
rindolf: there isn't
I've had this happen a lot, usually it happens some time after a fresh install
so my only solution usually is to completely remove the app using AppCleaner.app and then reinstall
and I've had that issue with different FF versions
kbrosnan
gavin or mconnor if you are free /mode -M #firefox would be nice
poutine
lol
it's not +M

is firefox supposed to make a http request (and receive 304 response) for items that are not yet expired? (i.e. have Expires header in the distant future)
ed-209
all the fields on web pages that are tagged as passwords print out this dumb dots when I type in the password
is there anyway to deactivate this frustrating "feature" without hacking the source?
RaceCondition
just asked my friend about this FF problem who's also on OS X, and he says he's had it many times

when using -moz-transform scale on the body-element the background is not scaled like the rest - is there any way to achieve this?
Lurzino
hello everyone!!!! :))))))))
xangua
hi there
Lurzino
anyone could tell me how's called that plugin where I could start a test where I can check which messages or xmlhttprequests are passed?....
for example if I click a button which should call a CGI file and I would see if it runs or not...
no idea?
bogeyd6
I know this sounds hoakey but i have a 5 year old and that likes to come and sneak up on my computer and hit buttons. I dont use a mouse very often so I am looking for an addon that will minimize with a keyboard shortcut. Is anyone familiar with such an addon?
Knat
Is there anyway to run some javascript before each page loads? I wanted to use greasemonkey, but it only runs after a page loads. I am trying to stop javascript alerts from loading.
kbrosnan
bogeyd6: search addons.mozilla.org for boss key or similar
Lurzino: sounds like firebug
Lurzino
hmmmm kbrosnan, I have firebug installed but there isn't a start button neither a stop button...
bogeyd6
kbrosnan, only f9 and f12 options, and they get captured in my tn5250 window
kbrosnan
you would need to set a breakpoint
Lurzino
kbrosnan, what was that plugin that has a start and a stop button for debugging?....
how I can check if a .CGI file is executed?
MaxHeadroom
Hello, can anyone recommend best addon for saving a webpage as a pdf?
Lurzino
No one could tell me how I could check if a cgi is executed?...
kthomas_vh
google: pdf writer
I think I'm using cutePDF
MaxHeadroom
kthomas_vh: thx
I am on a very slow 28.8 dialup connection, any way to make webpages continue to load until done? I get many that are very image intensive, that will fail to load completely due to timeout or some such thing
kthomas_vh
I think that there's a timeout setting
MaxHeadroom
I think it may be on the server side
cause firefox still shows the page as trying to load
kthomas_vh
well, yeah, you're in trouble if you can't load by the server timeout
MaxHeadroom
but my network activity has stopped
so no way to override server timeout
kthomas_vh
not
MaxHeadroom
is there a way so that when I hit refresh, it will resume loading where I left off... from cache?
kthomas_vh
AFAIK
Lurzino
I need a little suggest because I don't understand a little behavior and maybe you could help me a bit... here at http://www.comune.binago.co.it I have a button on the sidebar called "Mettiamoci la faccia" which should call a .CGI file and show a float window for a voting but looks like it doesn't executes anything... indeed locally with XAMPP it shows that float window... what could be?
MaxHeadroom
the web is against dialup users!
I am already using adblock and flashblock to save bandwidth
maginot
how can I build my firefox-3.6.3 (xulrunner-1.9.2) with different localization them english ?? I'm really stuck trying to find some information about how to do this
kbrosnan
if you are building from your distros sources it would be best to talk to their localization team.
MaxHeadroom
what are some good settings and addons to make dialup browsing better? (besides adblock/flashblock) am googling for some now...
kbrosnan
maginot: looks like https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Create_a_new_localization goes through the build process, though there are some extra steps. though as i said above these instructions are for building drirectly from mozilla
(Action) has not used dialup in 6 to 8 years
maginot
so the localization are something individual for each distro? Well... I'm just finishing mine, and thought that could be possible to something already exists
kbrosnan
maginot: they might have modified how exactly they treat each localization
