Antibuddha
i just AAA TROLL SPAM
jk :p
i saved a webpage to my desktop because i am helping to fix chinese to english translation
is there an easy way, when viewing the downloaded webpage on my desktop, to alter the words?
i opened it, and it loosk just like online webpage, but i want to fix up the english
do i need special program?
jwm
is there a way to get images without src set to have width/height?
all other browsers(tm) let me set width/height and display the image before I set src
dolske
Antibuddha: not exactly. You could edit the HTML directly in a text editor, assuming you know HTML. If you don't, an HTML editor might be useful.
jwm
I have a background animated loading gif on each picture before I set src on them
Antibuddha
im using openoffice sweb right now
it is not doing a good job
dolske
jwm: afaik that should work, have a simple test case?
jwm
yeah
ind.dist.us/aff2
click on products
you'll see in firefox they have no dimensions (except a big 4pixel border)
before they load
but all other browsers, even sh*tty ie, they do
not a big deal just something that'd be nice to fix for firefox users
hehe
I know I could put each pic in a div
and float them
but I'd rather not have more code
dolske
that's not a simple test case, reduce what you have down to a trivial page (like with 1 div and an image, or whatever) and see if it's still broken. If not, add parts back until you see what's causing it to break.
(Action) has to gor
err, go
jwm
it's not broken
hehe

hi
I have a general (probably retarded) question
why does firefox normally end up using considerable amount of cpu after I am more or less done with browsing heavy pages, and have a couple of text-only windows left open?
auscompgeek
text only? only text/plain documents?
:P
Calaaros
Hi guys, a while back I started having this problem where I couldn't watch embedded YouTube videos, but I came across a forum posting that said enabling third-party cookies would work, and it has, but is there another way to fix it without having to have the bombardment of third-party cookies? Thanks.
auscompgeek
Use Adblock Plus to block access to some of those sites that serve third-party cookies?
shepherd
It's a long shot, but has anyone any idea what theme this is? :P http://imagebin.ca/view/iqwz8md.html it integrates well with the guys windeco and color scheme ( a feat under KDE... )
snorf
Hi. I'm trying to install firefox on gentoo, but it crashes on startup. Can anyone help?
db81
it starts to load the GUI but then the window closes suddenly, and it doesn't give any output to the console, error code is 1
snorf: no offense, but they would ask anyway :P
snorf
db81: :-)
Pnux
hey, does anybody know a proxy that uses other port than 80?
kbrosnan
socks proxies are often on port 1080, and if you configure your own proxy then it can be run on any port
Pnux
kbrosnan: how would a sock proxy work?
same as the normal ones?
kbrosnan
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SOCKS
Pnux
cant really get there, i have blocked outgoing connections from port 80, thats what im trying to bypass
new_
Pnux: if you're looking for a public open proxy, this is probably not the channel to ask on.
Pnux
new_: i know, i just couldnt think of anywhere else to ask
devhen
anyone know of a add-on that might add google's auto-complete functionality to my google quicksearch ?
the-dude
any hints on this issue https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/601615 ?
kbrosnan
http://www.google.com/search?q=gss_init_sec_context()+failed suggests it might be a ms kerberos issue
the-dude
kbrosnan: ms as in Microsoft?
kbrosnan
though knowing what the minor code erro isssue

hihihi100

My machine also detects the usual wireless nets
kbrosnan

kbrosnan
hihihi100: try from the command line firefox -safe-mode
the-dude
kbrosnan: http://pastebin.com/wS7dYryB
hihihi100
ok, im a total noob, what exactly do I have to do? step by step instructions would be the best for me
kbrosnan
gss_init_sec_context() failed: Unspecified GSS failure. Minor code may provide more information... what is the minor code?
hihihi100
do I have to open a terminal?
kbrosnan
alt + f2 might work
the-dude
kbrosnan: I dunno what it means, this is all the logging I can get I think
hihihi100
hey it worked!!
thx brosnan
kbrosnan
hihihi100: that is just a troubleshooting step
might not fully fix the issue
hihihi100
but I am missing all my addons
kbrosnan
that is what safe mode does
hihihi100
i see, what do I have to type in the terminal to restore it to the previous situation?
kbrosnan
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
hihihi100
km thx, ill dig into it
brosnan, will it make a difference (I mean, will it work) if I make a fresh reinstallation of this problematic addon -TACO-?
uleming
When developers of firefox will add new features to firefox
I mean that i try persona and it looks really nice except then the default background of webpage different from theme
its ugly
kbrosnan
huh?
the-dude
kbrosnan: any tips for troubleshooting the firefox/kerberos issue? I found this http://old.nabble.com/forum/ViewPost.jtp?post=27065502&framed=y , but thats notreally usefull
it still works with 3.0.19, but it doesn't work with 3.5.9 and 3.6.3 , firefox says I need to authenticate
kbrosnan
the-dude: that is intresting, sec
the-dude
kbrosnan: Im using debian squeeze, Ubuntu jaunty, and Ubuntu Karmic, the proxy is centos with squid
it looks like it doesn't authenticate according to squid logging
kbrosnan
the-dude: could you check against the following builds? http://pastebin.mozilla.org/736114
the-dude
kbrosnan: sure hold on
kbrosnan
starting at b2 might be sensible
the-dude
kbrosnan: hold on :)
kbrosnan: do prefer to test on a centain os first?
kbrosnan
the-dude: any os you had a failure with 3.6 or 3.5 on
the-dude
kbrosnan: no success
kbrosnan
would you chcek if the mozilla build of 3.0.19 works? ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/3.0.19-real-real/linux-i686/
the-dude
kbrosnan: working on it, im also going to test that version on the computer with the working ubuntu version
kbrosnan: sorry its not a mozilla issue
kbrosnan: 3.6.3 works fine on ubuntu jaunty
so it must be something else
kbrosnan
might be the kerberos version on the client?
the-dude
kbrosnan: could be, im going to test it tomorrow and let you know

I've written an web app for kiosks that runs full screen. When the computer boots/reboots we have windows auto launching firefox to the right domain. But there's some software that will ocasionally load after it and pop up front. Is there any way to force firefox to stay in the foreground? Even after a reboot?
antoine__
height="screen.heighto"/quit

I'm having an issue with firefox not recognizing the return key every now and then, in for example a textarea. All other keys work. The issue is the same for all tabs of the window, and doesn't go away until I close and open a new window
Firefox 3.6.3 on OS X 10.6.3 - anyone any idea?
wieshka
Hi everyone - i have annoying problem - after installing addons, my firefox wont start - using newest MAC OS X & Newest firefox version
anybody else has this problem ?
MAC OS X v10.6.3, FireFox newest install from getfirefox.com
forexample firebug works, but colorzilla crashes
also evernote plugin crashes firefox
edoceo
Anyone notice that this routine fires geoGood twice? navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(geoGood);
Why is FF double calling that? No other browsers doo
Preyy lame
wieshka
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; lv; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3
reinstalled now
trying to add addons
and it happens again
Nomikos
wieshka: can you pinpoint the plugin?
wieshka
what you mean with pinpoint ?
Nomikos
Can you find out which addon is causing it?
wieshka
my mozilla firefox crashes on firefox startup
Nomikos: for example
colorzilla
Nomikos
Try and find out if other colorzilla users are having the same issue, send the developer dude a crashlog
I've noticed several plugins causing iffy behaviour in firefox :-/
wieshka
fck - colorzilla is must have for me :)
maybe switch back to 3.5.9 ?
Nomikos
Can't hurt to try. I can't live without webdeveloper and firebug but one or both is causing frequent "pauses" where the interface just won't respond to user input
But it does queue, so after 3 second everything happens at once. bkoody annoying
bloody, too
wieshka
Found one more must have addons for me crashing firefox - evernote web clipper
is there way how tu run firefox on MAC in some kinf of safe mode (plugins/addons disabled)
Nomikos
yeah, start it with Alt/Option key down
wieshka
Nomikos: thx, helped
Nomikos
