since apache sends a Last-Modified for images by default, does that mean if i set an Expires header on an image it will override the last-modified header from being sent? i'm noticing both headers are being sent by the server when i turn on Expires
StoneCypher
How are decisions made regarding for which TLDs IDN domains are whitelisted by default?
For some reason the Tonga registrar, which is among the strictest registrars, isn't whitelisted
which sucks because I have an IDN there that as such appears to users to be broken in Firefox

I'm so sad for this :(
I supported Firefox for years and now I'm thinking to move to Google Chrome

gucko
I love Firefox and I want it to be the best

mezod
kbrosnan everyone: with firefox and chrome: http://p.iqs.me/0ppud ---- me with firefox: http://p.iqs.me/82avm
kbrosnan you can try the url yourself in firefox also
kbrosnan
Firefox should not be haginig like that on flash. flash up to date? https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
i would still suggest trying to launch Firefox in its safe mode to see if that helps
mezod
that wasnt to me was it?
kbrosnan
no
mezod: looks like the second picture when i load the site
mezod

kbrosnan

mezod

mezod

kbrosnan
i missremembered the order of the images
mezod

A few days ago I had an instance of my FF search field input box all of the sudden turning into a right to left input box, a restart fixed it, but I never figured out exactly what caused it...
Just now FF has done it again
Any ideas on what can cause such a thing?
Thell
pic of the input field as it => http://screencast.com/t/YjVlNmU1
.... So, is there something I can check (perhaps on an about: page) to see what a setting for direction of that field currently is set to?
oopps, too late now; just like the other day whatever caused it ended up creating a runtime termination of firefox
Mosselmaniac
hi all
i'm doing repetitive actions on a website every day. is there a way to automate this? the data that i insert at a form differ obviously, but i login to a system, then click some buttons, then enter some data (that is dynamic then....) then press some more buttons. there should be a way to use a macro for such a thing or not? any hints / ideas? i have no idea to google it.
<Zen_Clark> Mosselmaniac, What browser do you u
forget that last line ;-)
is iMacros able to help me with above?
dbaron
Mosselmaniac, You might look into an extension called CoScripter
Mosselmaniac, or perhaps even Greasemonkey
Mosselmaniac, http://coscripter.researchlabs.ibm.com/coscripter
Mosselmaniac, I've heard of people using Coscripter for things like that, but I haven't used it myself
Mosselmaniac
dbaron, imacros looks promising
coscripter is for cooperation, macro's stored online. this is for private use
Calaaros
Hi guys, I'm having a little trouble playing embedded YouTube videos, just says an error occurred, and it only started happening recently. Any idea what it could be? AdBlock? FlashBlock?
rjohnson19
Calaaros: it could just be YouTube acting up. But you could try Firefox safe mode, https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
Calaaros
rjohnson19: Thanks, I'll give it a go.
Tried safe mode, error still occurred. So does that mean it's a problem on YouTube's side? Do you know of anybody else having the same problem?
rjohnson19
All embedded videos aren't working? Or just a particular page? If you share the page, I can check it and see if its not just you.
Calaaros
rjohnson19: Well, seems to me that no embedded videos are working. Doesn't work on Google Reader Play, nor on Google News, or on blog sites etc. that have embedded videos.
YouTube works just fine, I can always just right-click and play directly on there, but for some reason it doesn't want to play them embedded.
rjohnson19
This happens just on Firefox? You could try clearing cookies/cache, or, a new profile: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles#Starting_the_Profile_Manager
Calaaros
Hmm, seems to work on IE. I'll see if I can work out what the problem is with Firefox.
teadict
err, isn't /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.20/jre/lib/amd64/libjavaplugin_jni.so what once is supposed to link to get Java?
(am on the nightly, btw)
Cork[home]
hmm
(Action) checkes
teadict
is the only thing I found logical, from "locate java | grep plugin"
Cork[home]
:s ouch
i don't have java installed (i reinstalled the systems a few days back)
teadict
same here, that's why
Cork[home]
teadict: what distro
teadict
lucid
Cork[home]
did you install it from the repo?
java that is
teadict
yes, sun-java6-jre/jdk
and got the nightly from mozilla's pub ftp
Cork[home]
if so check in the /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
the simplest you can do is to link that folder into your nightly folders plugins folder
java and all other plugins should just work with that
teadict
but there's no java plugin there
Cork[home]
hmm, do you still have 3.6.3 installed?
teadict
that's the thing, I always remove default firefox, and then get the nightly
:3
Cork[home]
thats a bad idea
teadict
so there's no mozilla java thing anywhere
Cork[home]
leave the default
teadict
well, that's no longer an option heh
Cork[home]
well you can always install it again
teadict
but it doesn't have Java by default, does it?
Cork[home]
no but it might very well be that you don't get the plugin as you don't have ff installed
it just installs th system for java, not the nsp plugin
teadict
I thought the idea of the linking is to be installation agnostic
I'll reinstall firefox anyway
Cork[home]
well the ns plugin isn't needed if you don't have firefox installed
teadict
right
Cork[home]
but they changed alot of the packaging in 10.04 so this rule might have changed
i'm looking if they still have a mozilla-* package
teadict
Firefox *was* installed...
looks like I didn't remove it before the nightly..
which means..
the sun-java6-* installation didn't make the link
Cork[home]
that the mozilla link pack prob isn't installed
rjohnson19
you'll want libnpjp2.so if it is there, see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#On_Linux
teadict
pjp? what's that mean?
rjohnson19
np is the prefix for mozilla plugins, then jp2 means java plugin 2.
teadict
let's reset: Lucid's default Firefox was never touched, Firefox's Nightly was then unpacked in /home/inst/, then sun-java6-jre was then installed from the repos: neither of the firefoxes has Java.
mm, sun-java6-plugin!
there, default Firefox has Java
and so does the Nightly..
