When using execCommand('forecolor', false, 'blue') in IE when the curser is in the middle of a word it changes the color of the whole word to blue.. In FF it only changes the color of the letter i inputed in.. Is there a way to get IE to behave like FF?
infid
is there a way to temporarily disable ALL firefox plugins, so i can test if an issue is caused by one of them or not
i have like 20 so doing it one by one takes to long
for some reason flash works in every site (funnyordie.com, vimeo, google video, etc) but not in youtube
all i hear is sound but can't see the video when it's a youtube video
and only in firefox, it works fine in google chrome
kollektiv
uh do a binary search
infid
?
Peng_
infid: Disable half of them. If it works, re-enable half of what you disabled. If it doesn't, disable half of them. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Still takes some work, but it's a heck of a lot quicker than one at a time.
infid
yeah that could work
Peng_
It does work.
Err, uh.
infid: To temporarily disable everything, start Firefox in safe mode. (Firefox safe mode, not Windows safe mode. Pass -safe-mode.)
infid
ok i disabled all of them and now flash movies work in youtube
now to narrow it down to which one it is, here comes the one at a time part. i already disabled the ones i thought might conflict so this wont be easy
Peng_: thanks
enablin 3 at time
found the problem, it's greasemonkey because i had a script that changed the look of youtube
and youtube recently changed its format so now it's broked

hi, I downloaded a certificate where I had to click "i know the risk". can such behavior make it possible to read out the stored passwords?

Peng_
No...?
Wait what?
lotiksapu
i was on a shady website and it asked to accept a certificate first
Peng_
The website with the certificate problem is potentially an attacker impersonating the real site, in which case giving it your password could be a problem.
Accepting a wacky cert doesn't magically do anything dangerous. It just enables you to do dangerous things. :D
lotiksapu
no, it wasn'T it was a underground hacking website
ah ok
infid
that's just zero cool
lotiksapu
I worried a bit
infid
next time try an above ground hacking site. they tend to be less shady and will give you tips instead of exploiting you :p
Peng_
Yeah, the graboids might get you if you're underground.
lotiksapu
so the stored passwords are somewhat save yeah? If I always update security stuff and run linux?
Peng_
Depending on your definition of "somewhat safe", I guess?
lotiksapu
ah my english, safe yes. I know nothing is 100% safe
but I read about programs that grab these passwords and because I know nothing about the topic I was worried that's all
I made a master password for the stored passwords is this helpful in case of password stealing attemps?
My question is answered, sry for spam

So Whats the best way to get lightning to ignore incorrect ssl certificates when reading from exchange, as our exchange server presents different hostnames internally and externally, with the same cert.
Lightning/1.0b1 Thunderbird/3.0.4
kbrosnan
#thunerbird or #calander on irc.mozilla.org
ben`d
it seems the one website I didn't click on in google explained how to fix it
dr_benway
hi all - does anyone know of a way to close the browser from within privileged (i.e. extension) javascript code?
kbrosnan
dr_benway: head over to #extdev
dr_benway
kbrosnan: oh, my apologies - cheers
M06w
is there some extension I can get that will be like the process explorer in windows, but looking at the stuff running inside firefox?

Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) web browser, now accounts for less than 60% of the market, down from 95% at its peak in 2003, according to new figures.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/10095730.stm
unsure
yes this is since april 1st this year, I know, dios_mio.
since april 1st, latest firefox version superpsses latest ie version in popularity.

M06w
are these accurate polls?
kollektiv
now how many people who know FF exists still use IE?
M06w
in my experience most people don't switch browsers until they have a problem, in my case that was dancing penises, in my dad's case IE started crashing every ten minutes, but the point is knowledge of firefox usually won't make people switch
dios_mio
unsure, it is today's news article smartass
unsure
its what mozilla network's #firefox channel learned on april 1st!

How can I configure firefox to retain cached pages regardless of the page's security or cache preference
and how can i configure firefox so i never see a "would you like to resend data" when i hit back history
prefereably, the two are mutually inclusive

helo?
nand`
Call me stupid but where do I actually download the Firefox source code?
I can't find it on the firefox homepage
Oh never mind, H&S effect just kicked in - found it
drale2k
Holla!
nand`
I'm confused. Where does the firefox source live, if you pull it using MozillaBuild and hg?
It's nowhere inside the Visual STudio directory or the MozillaBuild directory
Or does it live in virtual/temp space ie. is vim the only way to edit the source
That would be awful, nano is so much better
Oh wait, I just realized that /users/name/src refers to my home directly on the system partition

I have a .mozilla-tunderbird folder from another Thunderbird installation, and I need to extract the contacts from there into my new TB3 installation. How to do?
kbrosnan
you can find #thunderbird on irc.mozilla.org , http://kb.mozillazine.org should have a document on the files in the profile folder
tdn
kbrosnan, ok.
kbrosnan, http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird does not mention the string "contacts"
kbrosnan
tdn: Personal Address Book

Peng_
If it's a new enough version, yes.

can firefox's useragent really have all this:
13:00 <Guest18172> My resolution is 1024 x 768. I am using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox 797819657703 system:3.00290 877911301803 879914569603 87891826603 696915903 99961803 877910101703 987716320703 797817903 87991037603 699913862803
Peng_
The resolution is a JavaScript thing, not the user-agent.
erry
Peng_, i know
Peng_, its a script i use
to determine people useragents
Peng_, but can it really report that long a useragent?
that's not what my firefox reports
Peng_
I have no idea what the heck all of those numbers are.
erry
Peng_, could it be a virus?
Peng_
It could be many things.
erry
Peng_, could it be why he can't accept cookies? Btw his IE has it too
Peng_, do you think he's just kidding me? :p
Peng_
What was that?
