How to get Form elements to AutoFill when I insert them via AJAX AFTER the page has loaded?
Cork[home]
you don't
as far as i know there isn't a single browser that does that to day
BenBE2
Why not and which feasable workaround exists (required for a Greasemonkey Userscript)
Cork[home]
(i've had to hack around it with hidden divs by self)
there is a bug about adding it to firefox, let me see if i can find it
BenBE2
I heard as much ... but even this isn't guaranteed to work ...
k. Would be nice.
Cork[home]
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442524
hmm
i could have sworn there was another one
BenBE2
hmmm, that's quite the other end ... AFAIK this should already work ...
Cork[home]
no, its the same bug
but as i said, i think there is another bug
but i just can't find it right now
BenBE2
It's more like: I've a GM userscript, when the user clicks some Icon a form is generated and the Form should auto-fill with the login information ...

Cork[home]
BenBE2: i know what the problem is, and as i sad there is a bug for it; i think the one i found was the wrong one
still looking
BenBE2
ahhh, k.
Cork[home]
the problem is that its souch a huge load of bugs in bugzilla, so it takes some time to search through it
this is another bug that might be the cause (not sure) https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=539546
BenBE2
I know this. I'm maintainer of GeSHi and given the time Mozilla still takes to get some buggy behaviour fixed (affecting my web application) is enormous ;-)
Cork[home]
BenBE2: so supplay patches ;p
BenBE2
The Firefox source is kinda messy. I prefer coding on GeSHi instead ...
Cork[home]
found it https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355063
i was looking for xmlhttprequest, and ajax, not script generated...
and that was my mistace ajax/xmlhttprequest has nothing to do with it :)
BenBE2
Zeah. That|s the problem if people use too few tags ...
Cork[home]
not really, the bug is correct
now to dup some bugs i found in the process :D
BenBE2
Yes. That's right. But if enough tags/keywords are present it greatly enhances your chance to hit one of the alternatives you looked for.
Cork[home]
BenBE2: normally its done by duping bugs in bugzilla
that way you find a dup and it directs you to the correct bug
the problem is that in this case they wheren't duped
BenBE2
Which part of the FF source are you familiar with?
Cork[home]
i've fiddled a little here and there, but never done any serius work in the c++ parts, so for now i'm in build config and js/xul
BenBE2
The issue that affects my app (GeSHi) is that one: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=365805 --- I at some point stopped caring about the issue and just asked people to complain upstream at Mozilla instead ...
The effect of this one basically is: If source is highlighted and for line numbering people use ol/li you can't copy&paste the source easily ...
But since it's within the core part ... it' not something I'd start on coding as a first project ^^
Cork[home]
i'm not sure i see the problem actually, sure its a big annoying somethimes
but in other its a life saver
big==bit
and a farly quick search/replace can remove the extra ยค
*#
man i hate this laptops keyboard...
BenBE2
Zeah. I know it|s just an inconvenience, bt I got lots of reports from people complaining about this.
At some point I implemented an alternative waz to handle line numbers, but at that point ran into the next problem where different siyes of fonts make it nearlz impossible to to pixel/exact siying of text ...
*Using italic text produces lines that are one pixel lower than given bz line/height, using bold fonts gives lines with one pixel more than given bz line/height(.
And everz browser introduces another side/effect to this behaviour, thus rendering it unfit for practical use.
Danic
erm, is border-radius not working on firefox current version?
Cork[home]
it works, but it has vendor prefix
its been in firefox for ages
-moz-border-radius
BenBE2
Anyway: Thanks for your time and looking for that bug report.
Cork[home]
same as -webkit-border-radius for chrome and safari
np

Danic
oh, that sux
Cork[home]
Danic: why?
the standard isn't complete yet
so they use vendoer prefixes
Danic
oh
k
when will it be complete then? is there any vague date?
Cork[home]
they will be removed when the standard go out of dev mode
Danic: not that i know
its w3c css3
http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-roadmap/
Danic
because -moz-border-radius has been working for at least 3 years now ^^
Cork[home]
ya
Danic
*sigh*
Cork[home]
i think it came back in 1.5
Danic
lol, ok
Cork[home]
css3 has been going for along time now
Danic
that is a little more than 3 years :D
Cork[home]
(Action) checks in d.m.o
well to be honest, firefox doesn't completly support border radius
the long hands has the wrong names
border-radius-topleft instead of border-top-left-radius
Firefox (Gecko) 1.0 (1.0)
':D
its OLD XD
that way back in 2005-2006
wow 2004 even
Danic
I am waiting for border-radius SO LONG
Cork[home]
9 nov, time flys
Danic
since i can think about :D
hehe
Cork[home]
well i've been using it for so long i don't really think much of it :)
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/releases/1.0.html
:)
the good old times ^^
i started using firebird just when they changed name
Danic
Me too :D
Cork[home]
fenix > firebird > firefox, it was so confusing when they changed name so many times
Danic
I read about teh change of names in online news, and decided to try it
ah, ok. i only knew about firebird -> firefox
Cork[home]
they first called it firebird, i tried it once or twice, didn't like it
Danic
then they called it firefox and it was awesopme? :P
Cork[home]
it had some naming issue (copyright)

Cork[home]

I'm with a little problem with GMail IMAP config. I want to download automatically all my email from Gmail accounts, like I used to do when POP3 was okay with me on Gmail (for some reason, Gmail POP3 had gone amok in TB3). Any suggestions?
PS: Ubuntu Koala, Linux, TB 3.0 from mozilla.org
Northwoods
Is there any plugin available for DOWNLOAD MANAGEMENT ?
like which can work as download manager
Cork[home]
is download management an external app?
Northwoods
Cork[home]: yes , like Internet Download Manager for windows
or DAP
Cork[home]
try flashgot
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/220
its an extension though, not a plugin
Northwoods
Cork[home]: Actually i want to download ubuntu iso image file which is 699 MB and my connection tends to drop inbetween , and its not resumable so i sort of need a download manager
Cork[home]: Or a plugin that can allow me to download .torrent file for this iso
Cork[home]
well, torrent files should be falrly easy, just grab one of the torrent files and load it in your fav torrent program
or use flashgot
flashgot let you send download links to external applications
Northwoods
Cork[home]: ok thanks
I'm not sure if security is compromised with firefox addons ?

hey, I'd like to make a plugin to refresh a page on timeout... but no idea where to start. Can I do it without completely replacing neterror.xhtml? Or must I replace that? And in that case, how would I handle varying versions of firefox?..
any pointers to where to start?
