hi, 3.6.3 on xp, for some reason when i visit status.twitter.com the day-of-week text is all wrong
i see "t ba" instead of "wed", and if i C+P from firefox, it appears in text editors normally
region settings are okay, encoding settings are okay, i tried reinstalling, i tried a fresh profile, i can't get it to display right
that's not the only page i've had the problem on, but it's the easiest trigger
http://imagebin.ca/view/4R27lar.html example i capped last week or so

hi guys
is there a possibilty to merge to .json bookmark backup files?
Zambz
hey guys, I've got a PHP script which send the appropriate headers for a file download. However, on my new webhosting server, the Content-Length parameter doesn't seem to be getting read by Firefox or IE, after comparing to a working server, I noticed the difference was that the new server added "Vary: Accept-Encoding" in the header
any idea why this would make a difference?
I'm using the Firefox extension "Live HTTP Headers" to confirm this
turns out this was related to the server sending "Transfer-Encoding: chunked"
just trying to figure out how to disable it now

Is there a way to delete a certain cookie at the command line or programmatically? Attempts to open the cookies.sqlite db while ff3 is running fail because of locks.

What are my options for playing H.264 in Firefox?
Btw: Conversion to Ogg/Theora is simply not an option

hi *, I wonder were to find the source for firefox with experimental webm support. I see build on http://nightly.mozilla.org/webm/ but I haven't found any hints on which hg branch/repository holds the source... :(
searching in central didn't find anything for webm or vp8...
voed
what's the hardlink for firefox 3.6 (linux) ? i'm using CUI interface, so can't get it from the website.
thomasg
hi. any chance to get firefox sources with webm/vp8 support - the nightly builds are not enough. can't find anything about it in the mercurial repos
Carraway
hi! i thought it would be easy as usual - but how do i add yahoo search to my search box? i can't do it by going on the yahoo site and then add it by clicking on the search box drop down and i haven't found it on the addons page either.
thomasg
rightclick on the search box, customize. could it be any easier?
uhm, no, leftclick and manage it was. point stays :)
Carraway
thomasg: yupp, that opens a little window. what do i do next<ß
?
thomasg
"get more search engines" and search for yahoo e.g.
dfjoerg
is it possible with JavaScript to open the print dialog and pre-select a specific printer?
Carraway
thomasg: that's exactly what i did. but where's yahoo search?
thomasg
Carraway: suppose it isn't listed there because it's default. "restore defaults" in the search engine manager should bring it back
Daiz
hello, everyone.
http://blog.mozilla.com/blog/2010/05/19/open-web-open-video-and-webm/
"Now we can add another, in the form of VP8: providing better bandwidth efficiency than H.264" << can someone go edit the bolded part out seeing as it's total bollocks
or at least gives a notably wrong impression to the general public
Carraway
thomasg: thanks!

are there versions of the firefox nightly webm versions that don't require installation

When typing something in the adress field, Googles "I'm feeling lucky" feature is used. Does anyone know how to make changes to this? I want it to use https, so I looked in about:config and filtered "Google" but changing all adresses there to https didn't do it.
rjohnson19
The pref is keyword.URL, I can change it to use https but have no easy way to tell if it actually uses https or redirects to http...
Waste
I tried that earlier today - it just redirected to the google homepage for me
rjohnson19
Yeah, same here in 3.6.4. Guess its not supported? :(

Waste
changing keyword.URL to https://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en#hl=en&source=hp&q=

rjohnson19: ot dpesm
oops
Waste
wat
qwd have you tried changing keyword.URL to https://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en#hl=en&source=hp&q=
qwd
rjohnson19: seems like you're right, it's not supported
Waste: yes
rjohnson19
that webhp search works, I'm not sure its the same behavior as the default value for keyword.URL though
Waste
I wonder...
what's the default keyword.URL setting again/
qwd
it just redirects me to regular http google, doesn't even work as "feeling lucky"
mine was http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q= but I don't know if it's default or if I've made changes to it
Waste
changing it to https works for me, so I wonder if I've done something odd to it
kbrosnan
that is dthe default
Waste
hmmf
qwd
Waste: what do you mean it works for you? when typing "something" into the adress field are you taken to https google results for "something"?
Waste
qwd: yes
qwd
hm, that's odd. it doesn't work for me
kbrosnan
works for me, though you need to choose something non-specific. as google will use intelegent 'i'm feeling lucky'
Waste
yep
hey, are there versions of the firefox nightly webm versions that don't require installation
rjohnson19
Waste: don't think there are nighlies for it, and the webm devpreview is a release, and releases don't have archives anymore (for windows anyways)
kbrosnan
rjohnson19: http://nightly.mozilla.org/webm/ has the windows build
rjohnson19
kbrosnan: I'm aware of that. I didn't know if they have nightly updates, and I don't see anything but an installer for Windows there.
kbrosnan
rjohnson19: it is a release, if you really don't want to use the installer you can use 7zip to extract the files from the exe.

Firefox doesn't support the loop attribute of the video element in html5?
kbrosnan
Darxus: not yet
possible to hack around it via javascript
Darxus
:/
How about embed controller=false?
kbrosnan
Darxus: controller is an ie'ism, for video/audio in html5 it is controls=true. http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/current-work/multipage/video.html#video
Darxus
Thanks.
controls="false" doesn't seem to do anything. And they default to on.
And looping works in an html file loaded from my hard drive, but not my server (which reports the files as xml).
http://www.eternalmachinery.com/ecar/video.html
kbrosnan
you need <video not emebed
Darxus
kbrosnan: embed loops from my hard drive and video doesn't.

I am trying to access a HTTPS server which requires users to use client certificates generated and signed by the server. It seems Firefox doesn't like OpenSSL CRT/KEY files, it only takes PK12 files? How can I use my OpenSSL client certificates with FF?
hacked`
firefox crashes all the time
and im tired of it
either you fix your sh*t, or im switching to chrome, your call guys
qfr
Ah, openssl can export to pkcs12, nevermind
Darxus
hacked`: Nobody here is responsible to you. Use what you like.
hacked`: Better yet, submit a useful bug report.
hacked`
i would be spending my entire days doing that since it crashed every 2 minutes, and i disabled all extensions/add-ons
kbrosnan
any crash ids?
https://developer.mozilla.org/En/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_for_a_bug_report#How_to_get_a_crash_ID_with_the_Mozilla_Crash_Reporter
qwd
hacked`: I don't think anyone besides you care what browser you use, but did you also disable plugins? Adobe Flash is making it crash for me every once in a while.
kbrosnan
really getting a crash report would be better
but i'm heading out the door
JodaZ
can i somehow have firefox warn me if i am about to close down its last window and there are still downloads going ? because nowadays there are often pages that don't allow you to resume downloads, so the download will fail if you restart
hacked`, firefox never crashed for me
hacked`, like never ever
hacked`, often people who complain about crashes are the people who saved just a bit too much when buying their hardware or who made some very bad choices with the software they let on their machines
