i've been having this problem forever, when typing a single word into ff's location bar firefox will try to lookup the address before sending the string to google's i'm feeling lucky option, the lookup takes 4-5 seconds before timing out which is extremely annoying, is there any way to tell ff that entering "asingleword" should go straight to search? like it does for stuff like "three separate words"
or maybe speed up the lookup? doing the dns lookup manually for a fresh nonexistant host returns not-found straight away, not sure why firefox's lookup takes so long

hey all I could really use some help with a greasemonkey script that is broken as of FF 3.6.3
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/1878
ive also mentioned this in #greasemonkey, but I was wondering if anyone had any insight to why 3.6.3 would break things
ananth123

I know I can hide the menu bar in Firefox with the 'Hide Menubar' add-on, but is there no way of doing it manually in about:config or such?

kbrosnan
ch3mtail: if you are on Windows you can right click the nav toolbar and hide it
ch3mtail: else you could do it via userChrome.css
ch3mtail
I should've added that I'm in Linux/Kubuntu. All I can hide is the status bar at the bottom and the navigation toolbar up top, but not the menu bar.

Hi, I'm having a problem with a webpage that stops loading sometimes in firefox, F5 does not fix it but selecting the URL and pressing enter does, is there any way to find out what causes this?
http://skorstenen.info/ is the page
when it stops loading I only get the text "den 20 maj 2010" on a white background
tested with firefox 3.0.8 and 3.0.19 though, maybe it doesn't occur in newer versions? (I don't have any to test with here right now)

I'm using ubuntu 10.04 and firefox crashed...how can I open about:crashes? or how could I see why had it crashed?
No one here?
Cork
alktors: you can't start it?
alktors
Cork, Thank you for replying. I can start it, but it crashes when I visit random websites.
Cork
alktors: so just go to about:crashes
alktors
Cork, The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded. I typed about:crashes in the adress bar.
Cork
hmm, is it the firefox from the repo?
alktors
Cork, Yes!:)
Cork, It has a problem or something?
Cork
i don't think the crash reporter is part of those builds
alktors
Cork, Ohh so that's why I can't open it.
Cork, Maybe I should purge this 3.6.3 build and get the one from firefox website?
Cork
give it a try
alktors
Cork, Ok, I'm purging it right now, thanks for helping me.
Cork, I installed it, it starts, doesn't crash but I can't seem to get flashplayer working.
Cork, I did copy the flashplayer to the plugin folder
Cork, In google chrome, flash is working fine.

i have a question on tracemonkey
i have a htmlli element, i use it's $.html (jquery) as template to append more list elements
but when replacing the href or the src with my placeholders "{{ foo }}" and "{{ bar }}"
those "{" and " " are escaped to %20 and %7B
is there a way to prevent this?
edoceo
imgrey: load page then take screen shot
imgrey
edoceo, thanks a lot. how I missed this option
edoceo
if you had some clever extension you could automate too, only capture "page area" of view
imgrey
