oh, wait, no

only the last-closed window will re-appear
use file->exit to close and save both windows at once
(or cmd/ctrl+q on mac/linux)

serious fault on my behalf. but at least I have "History' to go through...

ow do I get firefox GUI in my desired language (croatian). I put hr.jar and hr.manifest in /usr/lib/firefox-3.6/chrome/ but I'm buzzed what should I do next... Any tip?

I use Firefox in Danish, and I experience the issue that the HTTP Accept-Language header sends 'da', and not 'da-dk', does anyone know if this is a Firefox related thing, or an Ubuntu/Linux related thing?
LugarSivi
jarlen: how did you switch it into Danish?
jarlen
It was like that when I got here
Um, it's a part of the standard Ubuntu install
I guess it takes some system default or something

LugarSivi
oh I see... my system default is English.
jarlen
I'm actually not quire sure how it's determined, I think I've installed Ubuntu with English language and Danish settings, keyboard settings and stuff
hm, actually it is pretty weird. The standard language setting for Firefox is [dk], but the language drop-down only contains 'Danish [da]'
that's pointing at a Ubuntu issue?
kbrosnan
LugarSivi: normally your distro provides the localization packages for their version of Firefox
LugarSivi
kbrosnan: thats right, these are (among others) packages which I installed by my distro's package manager. But I still need somewhere to apply new language seems so
kbrosnan
maybe the localswitcher extensnion
LugarSivi
nah I think one option about locale in about:config will do the trick but I can't try now, thanks for help anyway.

is there an URL convention similar to #anchor name, but for jumping to the first matching text Find matches?
eg, link.html#?find=String
[reed]
Raccoon`: no

someone contact the W3C please

That makes me imagine some sort of web standards bat-phone. "Hixie, the city is in danger! HTML 5 is incomplete!"
alex87
hey everyone, is there a way to block pop-ups that occur after clicking on something? this is a really common way around the blocker
kbrosnan
noscript, adblock
Raccoon`
modify Firefox and upload the changes
so we can all enjoy it
alex87
Raccoon`: i might have a look at it, it seems like pretty basic functionality, it's just being more strict with pop-up blocking after all
kbrosnan: guess i'll have to give noscript another try
Raccoon`
not sure why Firefox hasn't added a Javascript Control Panel with every function listed with permissions/disabling
alex87
yeah, or why theres no add-on for it
Raccoon`
javascript.func.Window() = FuckYou
in about:config
alex87
haha
i guess noscript aint so bad, a lot of you guys use it?
kbrosnan
i don't

On a specific website, whenever i click on a link and open it in a new tab, the link gets redirected to the homepage. I would like to be able to open several tabs in this website. How can I get around this problem?

weird...
I am recently notified of new version, 3.6.4, to download
Is this a newer version of beta or...?
Peng_
towardme: http://blog.mozilla.com/blog/2010/04/20/firefox-3-6-4-beta-available-for-download-and-testing/ <-- I would guess so, and that you're on the beta update channel.

ok

Javascript extremely slow with Gentoo firefox and firefox-bin 3.6.3 (clean installs). Works fine in Windows firefox 3.6.3 through virtualbox. Any ideas to the solution?
For example a picture fade-in effect happens as a slideshow with those common gallary javascripts

Hi guys, I hope you wont mind me asking here about thunderbird since its channel is inactive. Can someone tell me is it possible (reasonably complicated) to make customized thunderbird installation setup which could for example create email accounts?

Anyone have directions on how to run firefox from within a chroot? I'm some kind of problem with pango fonts?

hi all if i have an intel atom chip. What optimized build of FF should I use? (on linux)
Peng_
Who cares? Use whatever your distro packages or the mozilla.com binaries use.

Hi, I have one problem with enter key, it submits form. tried noenter function. it is working in chrome, but not in ff. http://jsbin.com/izeso3/edit
ikaruga20991
Peng_ actually it does matter. There is a noticable speed difference when u use an optimized build. If u don't know, don't try to "help"
JeroenDeDauw
Is there a way (in 3.6) to auto submit forms for which login data is stored when accesing them via a bookmark?
kbrosnan
JeroenDeDauw: depends on how the site does auth
JeroenDeDauw
kbrosnan: Bookmark points always to a page with login form.

hi
my Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3 is chaning the characters while i type them, does somebody ever seen it?
it's changing to greek and arabic chars
TuomasT
Firefox for some reason seems to have extremely poor javascript performance on linux. For example I get super-slow fade-in and fade-out on picture javascript on linux (not on windows) and I have verified this on couple of linux systems
whereas opera linux works fine
andy_t_roo
firefox is currently using 100% of a cpu, with no obvious cause -- can anyone help me diagnose the cause? (3.6.3 in win xp)
Cork[home]
andy_t_roo: what page are you on?
andy_t_roo
Cork[home]: i've quite a few tabs open, i'm working through closing them one by one to see if i can nail a culperate, but i've seen this before, and it seems to be completly random
i suspect there might be a per page poll, or something like that, and it triggers before it completes; it only shows up when fx has been open with a bunch of tabs for a while
Cork[home]
andy_t_roo: one thing that might be the cause is flash objects in the page
or badly written js
andy_t_roo
Cork[home]: i believe that quitting and opening fx, with the saved pages still the same, will fix the problem
Cork[home]
andy_t_roo: that doesn't really mean much
it might be caused by one of your extensions too
how easy is it for your to reproduce the effect after a restart of firefox?
*for you

andy_t_roo
Cork[home]: quite hard, as it isn't related to specific pages, more to having fx time open for a while, with lots of tabs. quit and re-open for a while might be able to reporduce it -- is there a debug mode i could enable to produce a more usefull report next time this hapens?
mzz
I hilight on that url. It took me a few seconds to realise none of the bots had caught it yet.
Peng_
mzz: You highlight on it? How? Some script?
Cork[home]
andy_t_roo: not really
mzz
Peng_: no, just /hilight stupidurl.com

hi
my firefox always complains totem player is not installed for playing videos
i want to use mplayer in firefox, how do i change from totem to mplayer in firefox
TuomasT
kbrosnan: Also on x86 I tested (Ubuntu in virtualbox and it was dead slow wheras windowsxp in virtualbox was fast)
But native platform here is x64
kbrosnan
x64 does not have tracemonkey javascript, it uses the older spidermonkey javascript engine
andy_t_roo
Cork[home]: after closing the tabs one by one, cpu usage dropped from 25% to 3% when i closed a gmail tab (i had 2 open)
i only had 4 other tabs open, they were wikipedia pages
re-opening that gmail tab further reduced usage to ~1%
TuomasT
kbrosnan: I have the same issue in the 32-bit firefox I downloaded from firefox homepage in tar.gz
(and also on the Ubunty system I mentioned)
eg. newest one from here: http://virtualboxes.org/images/ubuntu/
Maybe I should a distro or two more to be sure

Oops, sorry.
For some reason, my flash* player settings won't appear (http://macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html). The little box to configure everythign simply doesn't show up.
I've reinstalled both Firefox and Flash in attempt to get it to show up.
