Does Firefox 3.6 support fallback content in a <video> tag? I can't get anything in my <video> tag to show up.
oralo
is this the mozilla mdc room?
pereba

oralo

oralo: if you're looking for developers, use #developers. if you actually want mdc use #devmo (both on irc.mozilla.org)

hey what's the video problem here?is it?
Safe Mode (in supported Mozilla applications) is a good way to see if an add-on, theme or something else is causing issues. See: http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode (Firefox)
Did someone have <video> tag problem here before I joined?
PFA
firefox crashed on ubuntu; won't restart because process is still running, but it's "uninterruptible" -- what should i do
Gryllida
reboot

Is there a command/way to make firefox stop all pages that are downloading? (like when restoring a session and they all get reloaded at once)
to just keep the tabs open but not loaded and I can reload them one by one when I want to?
kbrosnan
bartab extension does most of that, short of the command line
jesperj
thank you
Zeek
Hi, I know I am a bad searcher unable to find this, is there a plugin to play an audio link as a toolbar as opposed to a separate page/tab?
kbrosnan
not that i am aware of, mixing webpages into the browser ui can be tricky security wise
Zeek
mmm nuts.
I am trying to do a language course which provides pronunciation in audio but is a pain to have it pop in a separate window
jesperj
Zeek: maybe you want some plugin that controls/forces the link to pop up in the same window?
or, to open the audio in an external player
bobo_b
hi
Zeek
jesperj, yeah I actually found one which adds a player in the toolbar, though you need to popup menu 'play' to play it
jesperj
ok

how do new tags/css make it through w3c?
i'd like to see self adjusting columns at some point in my lifetime
Request: about:config something.allow-modal-window = True/False (default True)
Setting to False will prevent any child window from denying access to its parent via disabling the parent window.
this includes save dialogs, option dialogs, etc

what string in html document will make firefox brower to call js engine
<script> is ok? but i find this is also valid:<IMG SRC=jAvascript:alert('test2')>
anybody can give me a url about this?
Peng_
There are lots of ways to get JavaScript called. For example, onclick attributes (if you click them).
I don't have an URL, though... Why do you care?
manze
jAjavascirpt in `<IMG SRC=jAvascript:alert('test2')>' will make broser to call js engine? <script>. and are there other way
i get nothing by view html syntax in w3c

hello all
is there a way to write a HTML5 application that works solely offline? like how flash works when loaded from the local filesystem and not over a network connection
i'll need to store session data as well

deadroot

hi all - my gftp appears to have got corrupted - the connect drop down isnt working and hence i think its easiest to delete firefox and reinstall - how can i clear all of the config files on a mac so that its a first install rather than detecting existing tools
Peng_
...What does gFTP have to do with Firefox?
steveccc
sorry my apologies i meant fireftp
Peng_
Ooh.
steveccc
ideally i just want to reinstall the plugin and not loose my connection list but i am presuming that this isnt feasible and hence was going to wipe firefox completely and start again
Peng_
steveccc: It's highly unlikely you would lose any of your settings by uninstalling and reinstalling an extension.
steveccc
peng_: no they dont get removed but nor does the problem unfortunately
Peng_
steveccc: Personally, I'd recommend reinstalling it, and then nuking localstore.rdf in your profile (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles#How_to_find_your_profile) before doing anything really drastic.
steveccc: localstore.rdf stores your toolbar layouts and whatnot, and has a tendency to go pear-shaped.
steveccc
peng_: thanks - just binned the localstore - just in chatzilla in firefox so have to reopen firefox to see if it has worked - thanks and possibly see you in a min
Peng_
steveccc: You should do it with Firefox closed.
(If you're still here...)
steveccc
yes still here but even doing it with it open seems to have resolved part of the issue
anyway will close and reopen - thanks
Peng_
Ya know, I always used to say "with Firefox closed", but I stopped because I figured it was unnecessary...

Lefantomedurezo: updating Flash Player to the latest beta, does that work?
Lefantomedurezo
I have albredy the last version
Eghie
what version do you have?
Lefantomedurezo
10 R45
Eghie
and what OS?
including archticture
wow, my spelling is horrible now :)
Lefantomedurezo
mint gloria
architecture X86
Eghie
ah, you are using the distribution it's flash release, right?
Lefantomedurezo: you can try the new flash beta
Lefantomedurezo: because it's seems that flash is crashing
Lefantomedurezo: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/flashplayer10_1_rc4_linux_050510.tar.gz
qweberic2010
since there a alot web browers for ipod touch could you please add firefox

Eghie
qweberic2010: check this, for why not on the ipod/iphone: http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.platforms.mobile/browse_thread/thread/ca8a7fe623451635/04b770306a55326b

k.
Lefantomedurezo
but if I delet ./home/lefantomedurezo/.mozilla it will work again
with the same release
and beta is less stable than final version
Eghie
Lefantomedurezo: yeah I know, but I think it's because Flash is crashed
Lefantomedurezo: you can check if in menu tools -> addons -> plugins if the flash plugin is disabled when that happens
Lefantomedurezo
flash plugin is enable when the profil is broken
chicko
Eghie: thanks a lot :D
Eghie
Lefantomedurezo: could it be that you have installed flashblock?
Lefantomedurezo: it could be that there are some opensource alternatives installed, like swfdec or gnash
Lefantomedurezo: you could try this as well, than you'll have the stable version of flash: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8141007&postcount=11
Lefantomedurezo
the problem continue with new flash beta
how can I repair my profile?
I don't want to reinstall ansd reconfigure every extention I installed
Eghie
Lefantomedurezo: can you start firefox from the commandline?
Lefantomedurezo: then you'll get the messages in the commandlne
Lefantomedurezo
http://pastebin.com/3T6372V2
however firefox 3.6 is on media/disk/software
Eghie
ah, nspluginviewer
in the terminal as root: updatedb; locate libflashplayer.so
Lefantomedurezo
okay I place the new flash player
Eghie
and apt-get remove nspluginwrapper
Lefantomedurezo
I will restart when every download is removed
Eghie
nspluginwrapper can be incompatible with flash
Lefantomedurezo
to be removed: mint meta main
I don't want to lost mint's packages
Eghie
no, I understand that
Lefantomedurezo
I don't know if everything will be removed
it happened onetime I wont retry this experience
Eghie
yeah, I've experienced that with ubuntu once as well
does it say nsplugin in firefox -> addons -> plugins somewhere?
maybe you can disable it there
Lefantomedurezo
and when I seen that it delet pidgin, totem, vlc, gnome synaptic... I said oh, oh
no it doesn't
Eghie
what does locate nsplugin give?
maybe you can temporary rename the nsplugin plugin
obiwan_
hi guys, i have one question. if youtube / other sites videos are downloaded in the temporal cache, why are they reloaded when you revisit the same video?
Lefantomedurezo
http://pastebin.com/jdeM0S8U
there are a lot!
are they for totem?
Eghie
nspluginwrapper is a plugin wrapper, which enables you to use plugins on platforms they were not built for.
mostly used on 64bit systems
with 32bit plugins
Lefantomedurezo
okay, but why did they includ on x86 os?
Eghie
don't know
I am using 32bit Ubuntu Lucid in here and they didn't include it here
Lefantomedurezo
and is it inclued on 64bit karmic?
I tried once to install flash on 64 bit karmic but without succes
Eghie
yeah it's included with 64bit karmic
Lefantomedurezo
so I don't understand and I give to this guy the 32bit of lucid instead of 64
Eghie
run these commands as root and try to start firefox from the commandline again: http://pastebin.com/3jutWVYj
ah sorry, there are some extra commands
Lefantomedurezo
it don't work
Eghie
this: http://pastebin.com/7iXaaupw
yeah, there are some extra plugin files
Lefantomedurezo
Eghie
which have another name
Lefantomedurezo
cannot stat `/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/npwrapper.*.so': No such file or directory
Eghie
you can ignore those messages
that means the folder does not exists
Lefantomedurezo
okay
but i think it come from the profil
because when I rename /home/ Lefantomedurezo/.mozilla and restart firefox: youtube work
and when I restor the old profile
it don't work
Eghie
Lefantomedurezo: yeah, but nspluginwrapper can be unstable with flash, and give the same behaviour
I guess this problem will happen also with a new profile
Lefantomedurezo
but it didn't happen before I had 3.6.3
Eghie
firefox 3.6.4 runs flash in another process
and also other plugins
Lefantomedurezo
3.6.4 is albready released?
kbrosnan
no
Eghie
ah, I didn't read your message correctly
3.6.3 doesn't have that yet
Lefantomedurezo
okay
I have to go
Eghie
ok
Lefantomedurezo
thanks
Eghie
no problem
if you want, you can run aptitude reinstall nspluginwrapper, and everything should be back to normal
Skered
Can I pipe html to firefix?
Yeah, firefox.
kbrosnan
what exactly do you mean by pipe
AnnaZ
pipe is a pipe. it's self-explanatory.
Skered
curl "$url" | firefox3
AnnaZ
i think ff will not accept a pipe
Skered
For one example.
AnnaZ
but there should be a way
just i'm being too dense to remember how.
Skered
But what I'm really trying to do is use mutt's pipe feature to pipe html emails that elinks/.mailcap chew up to firefox without having to save to a file then open
kbrosnan
would need to save it to a file then load the local file into firefox
or you could mess around with data:uri
AnnaZ
kbrosnan: i'm sure this is not necessary. i'm thinking along the lines of piping into a tcp socket.
